When I did my research about what to eat in Klang, I came across this Fried Porridge Place which reminded me of our Yishun's Old World BKT version of the Dish that I really enjoyed, so I thought I'd visit this to give it a try. 🍲👍
Located in a somewhat Quieter Neighbourhood, this was a Very Large Eatery that looks more like a Place to eat Tze Char. 🤔 From the looks of it, it looks like it has been around for many years already.

Staffs were Friendly, Polite and mostly kept to themselves. There weren't much Customers as at 4.30pm on a Weekday. 🤔
Before I ordered this, I was told they only have 1 Size and it would probably be too much for 1 Person. 😅 I appreciated their Heads-Up on this and I told them to go ahead. It took 3 Mins for the Dish to be served up.

🍲 Fried Porridge = RM19.00

The Bowl does indeed look Huge at First Glance, 🍲😳 but it actually has a Shallow Base so the Amount of Porridge is not as Much as you'd imagine. 🤔 Using the Metal Ladle provided, I counted 3 Metal Ladles for 1 Small Bowl. 🥣 Total Amount of Porridge is about 6 Small Bowls worth.

As I dissected the Dish, it consists of:
5 Cuts of Youtiao (About Half a Youtiao Worth)
Lots of Pork Lard Crisps 🐷

And ... that's it. Nothing Else. 😅

Hahaha Opps. 😅 Just like the KL Hokkien Mee I had the other time at 新青山福建麵 San Ching San Hokkien Mee, this Fried Porridge is more like a Blank Carb Canvas meant to eat with other Dishes. 🍲🤔

That said, the Porridge itself tasted really Nice though. 🍲😋 Within it are what looks like Small Yam Cubes 🍠 and Anchovies. 🐟 It had a Noticeable Base of Cuttlefish 🦑 and Haebee 🍤 together with a Robust Presence of Wok Hei 🔥 that is also Not Too Overwhelming.

Texture of the Porridge is not Soft until like Ber type but its still Soft to Swallow. 😋 Not Overly Salty, this leans more towards Seafoody. I love the Lovely Release of 猪油香 🐷😋 when you add a Piece of Pork Lard Crisp.

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts

At the Price of RM19.00 (S$5.90) for this Huge Bowl of Porridge I feel its worth it because it can comfortably feed 2-3 People. 🍲👍 The Taste Quality of this is actually Very Decent, Robust Wok Hei Gao Gao Seafoody type of Porridge. 🔥🍲

That said though, just like the KL Hokkien Mee I reviewed previously, unfortunately there are No Other Ingredients within. 😅 This is meant to act more like a Blank Carb Canvas to eat with other Tze Char Dishes that they sell in this place. 🍲😅 Having said that, pairing Porridge to eat with Tze Char itself is quite a Novel Idea. 🤔

Do note that they do not offer Smaller Solo Size of this, so this place is not really meant for Solo Diners. 😅 Such a Pity, this is a Solid Porridge Base that would work so well if they added more ingredients and made it an Actual Dish instead of a Blank Carb Canvas like this. 🍲🤔

Don't let my Average Score deter you from this place. 😅 If you are coming in a Group and looking for Tze Char, I can recommend this to give it a try because this Porridge is actually worth to try. 🍲👍 Its also quite interesting to eat Tze Char Dishes with Porridge so there's that. 👍
