🍜 Hokkien Mee (1 Pax) = RM12.00

SST 6% = RM0.68

📋 Here is the Full Menu of the Eatery/Restaurant.

Prices are Accurate as of the Date of the Post.

When people come to KL, of course one of the Classic Signature Dish is KL's Very Own Hokkien Mee. 🇲🇾🍜 Unlike Singapore's Version of Hokkien Mee which is basically a Prawn Broth Based Lighter Coloured Dish, KL's version is the Black Orh Lu Lu type. ◼️🍜
During my Research, this Particular Eatery has been mentioned as one of the more Famous ones for this Signature Dish so I thought I'd give it a try. 🤔

The Actual Place is located in an Area that seems to be Focused on F&B. 🍽️🤔  It is a Big Kopitiam that takes up 2 Shoplots. Although not Super Crowded until Full House type of Situation at 6.30pm on a Saturday, there are still a Steady Stream of Customers as I observed. 🤔
The Restaurant itself is actually a Tze Char Place. Not Air-conditioned but still relatively Airy and Comfortable. 🌬️ Most of the Staffs here are Myanmar Folks who are Friendly, Polite and mostly keep to themselves. 👍

Interestingly, unlike the Regular "Noodle-Type" of KL Hokkien Mee that we see, they seem to have many Different Variations of Carbs used instead of the Classic Thick Thick Noodles that you'd expect. 🍜🤔 It was interesting to see that they offered a Beehoon Variation here. 🤔 I ordered the Classic Standard Thick Thick Noodles type though which was served up in 6 Mins.

🍜 Hokkien Mee 1 Pax = RM12.00
When the Dish arrived though, I knew I messed up. 😅 Hahaha I almost want to 哭笑不得. 😅

Unlike the Versions of KL Hokkien Mee that we have in Singapore or even JB, Actual KL Hokkien Mee in KL itself doesn't have any other Ingredients! 😳 Its literally just Plain Hokkien Mee and nothing else. 😅 Its sold like a Blank Carb Canvas that is really meant to eat with other Dishes and not just by itself. 😅

As I closely dissected the Dish, there were only Some Slices of 🥬 Shredded Cabbages, 🦐 1 Small Prawn, 🐷 1 Very Pathetically Small Piece of Lean Pork with alot of 🐷 Pork Lard Pieces. That's it. They taste exactly like how you'd imagine them to taste. This is as Basic as it gets, right down to the Bare Minimum. 😅

The Noodles are as Thick as Udon and as you'd expect has a Soft Tender Bite. 🍜 If you have eaten KL-Styled Hokkien Mee before, you will know that the Soul of this Dish is really that Dark Black Sauce that coats the Entire Noodles. 🍯

The Taste for the Version here is Rich, Creamy, Thick and Very Oily. 🍯😋 There is a Familiar Earthy Sweetness that is also not Overly Sweet that I like. 👍 Something about this Sauce makes you keep on wanting to eat more and more of it. 😋 And if you bite a Piece of that Crispy Pork Lard, BOOM the tastes elevates with another level of 猪油香味. 🐷😋

But...that is it. 😅 Other than 1 Small Prawn and 1 Very Small Piece of Pork Slice with a few slices of Veggies, there is nothing else I can describe further for this Dish here. 😅 Oh and they do sell the Sauce separately if you are interested at RM70.00 (S$22.50) per bottle.

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts

Hahaha, so apparently KL Hokkien Mee in KL, at least from this Eatery is sold Kosong, Plain and Empty without Ingredients 😅 unlike the KL Hokkien Mee that we see in JB or Singapore which is a More Fully-Featured Dish.
I'm not sure if this is the case for other Eateries in KL but this is at least the Situation here for this Eatery. 🤔

As such, the Price of RM12.00 (S$3.70) I don't feel is worth the money because what you're essentially getting is just Noodle Carbs and Nothing Else. 🍜😅 To be fair though, the Amount of Noodles you get is quite alot and is meant for 2 People despite the "Small" that I ordered. 👍
As for Taste Quality, I'll admit, KL Hokkien Mee is not something I eat regularly because obviously its not the Healthiest Thing in the World to eat often. 👨‍⚕️😅 So I can't really judge the Quality for this one. For me, this taste Decent but it also taste like any other Decent Quality KL Hokkien Mee out there. 🍜🤔

Now as I mentioned, I really don't know if KL Hokkien Mee are all sold like this Kosong as a Blank Carb Canvas in KL or if it is only this specific Eatery, so you might want to take note of this before you land in an Amusing 搞笑 SItuation like me. 😅 As for this Place, I really have no further comments since I did not try their other Dishes. 😅 From what I can see though, it is Relatively Popular for the Local Folks from what I observed and Business is Brisk. I have no issues with their Customer Service tbh. 👍

Don't let my Average Score deter you from this Place. 😅 There is nothing wrong with it. If you are ok that the KL Hokkien Mee here is sold Kosong and is Basically a Blank Carb Canvas, and you are ok to order more Dishes to pair with it, this is still an Eatery that you can consider to visit if you're nearby the Area. 👍
Other than this Eatery, this Surrounding Area itself is also Full of Food Eateries that I feel is worth to explore too. 🍽️👍 Hahahaha Super 搞笑 man. 😅 This was an Interesting Experience indeed. I wonder if all KL Hokkien Mee in KL itself sold like a Blank Carb Canvas like this? 🍜😅 Or is it just this Specific Eatery that does it this way? 🤔
