Well Reviewed by many Food Blogs, apparently this is supposedly KL's Best Rated WTM. 🇲🇾🤔 Its even located in Taman Cheras relatively near to the Michelin Rated 海脚人 Hai Kah Lang (KL Taman Cheras) that I reviewed previously so of course I knew I had to visit this! 😄 Just like Hai Kah Lang, it is a Classic Kopitiam-Like Eatery located in a Row of Shophouses. Unlike Hai Kah Lang however, it is Non-Airconditioned. It is Warm but Not Humid. 👍 The Place was Relatively Cleanly Maintained.
What is Very Impressive is even on a Friday Morning at 9.30am, the Place was Packed! 🌞😳 I consider myself lucky that I was still able to find a Solo Seat. 😅 As I observed further, all the Customers even appears to be Locals, so despite its High Rating, its not just a Touristy Place. 👍 This is a Restoran that even the Locals visit.
How to Order your Food:
1) When you enter the Place, before you even look for a Seat, you will need to place your order at the Front Cashier Counter.
2) After you've ordered, you need to Pay First and only then you will walk in to look for your Seat. Your Food will be served up to you. 🤔 Because you need to Order First before you even find a Seat, I find this to be abit of a Rush for First Timers to this Place. 😅
I would recommend to refer to their Menu that I have in the Photo Collection 📷 to prepare yourself before you come here so you will know exactly what you want. 👍
I do appreciate that the Front Counter Staff still remained Relatively Polite and Friendly even when I took my time to look thru the Menu and even take Photos of it for this Review. 👍 I was even more impressed with them for doing Something Nice during my Meal which I will describe later. 😄 Anyway it took about 5 Mins for the Dish to be served up. Quite Impressive Timing considering the Elevated Level of Customers. 👍

I was Immediately Impressed when this was served up. 👍 Even for a "Small" that I ordered, the Whole Dish looked Very Big and Filling and doesn't feel like there are any Attempts to Scrimp. 👍 Doesn't Feel Stingy. Very Nice. There is also a Small Baby Bowl of Soup with Wantons. 🍲
🍲 Quality of the Soup
Its a Clear Soup and I could taste some MSG used, although not really alot. 🤔 Very Classic WTM Type of Soup Taste. Not Alkaliney, Not Peppery and Slightly Saltish. I have not much issues with this Soup Quality. Decent Tasting. 👍
There are 3 Wantons and they're Slightly Larger than a Typical Baby Small type of South East Asian Wantons with a Nice Juicy Bite. 🥟😋 The Minced Pork Filling has a Delicious Slightly Intense Salty Juicy Hit when you bite into them. Not Overly Porky. 🐷😋 Wanton Skin was Soft and Smooth. This is a Very Decent Quality Wanton. 👍
A Minor Incident that made me Very Impressed with the Staffs here. ♥️
So while I was slowly savouring and taking Photos of this Wanton, 📷 I accidentally spilled abit of my Soup. 😅 Since I already tasted the Soup for the Review, I thought nothing of it. What impressed me was that one of the Staffs actually without me asking automatically came over my Table. 🤔 She wiped up the spill promptly and even came back with an EVEN BIGGER Bowl of Soup 🍲 (without Extra Wantons of course) for me at No Extra Charge! 👍
Why I'm so impressed with this is because I was seated in a Relatively Obscure Corner. 😅 And because the Staffs were very Busy running around all over the Place, 🏃🏃♀️ I thought they would have no time for me. 😅 So for this Staff to spring into Action and even offer me a Bigger Bowl of Soup at No Extra Charge Exceeded my Expectations. 👍 This is Very Commendable Service. ♥️
As for the Main Dish itself, of course I Closely Dissected Every Piece of Component to Check. 🤔 The Dish Consists of:

🐷 8 Pieces of Sio Bak
🐷 8 Pieces of Char Siew
🥬 Some Stalks of Chye Sim.
Amount of Noodles is Acceptable and Filling. 👍 I would even describe the Amount as Generous. 😅 It certainly felt like alot more Noodles were given compared to Most WTM Eateries I've visited in JB. 👍
Glistening Shiny in Appearance, they look Oily but doesn't taste Oily. 油而不腻. 🍯😋 Bite Texture is Not Springy Bouncy QQ, but have a Soft Tender Bite. Not at all Mushy. 😋 The Black Sauce for this is Not Overly Robust or Earthy Type but More Light and Gentle. 👍 Lightly Sweetish, I thought this worked Very Well as a Carb Canvas for the Dish.

I am so Happy that they didn't use those Faux Red Colouring type of Paper Thin Char Siew! 😅 Oh No No No. This is a Legit HK-Styled 真材实料 Roasted Version. 🔥🍖 OMG the Fatty Part just MELTED in my Mouth. 🐷♥️ Meat Part Tender and Soft. I especially love that the Cuts I got were More Fatty Ones. 🍖 I believe this is the 不见天 Cut. 🤔 Add to it that Delicious Caramelized Sweet Zhup, 🍯 this was Shiok to the Max! ♥️
I have long searched for a Char Siew that can match up to KSL City Mall's You Kee XO Restaurant "Meat Candy" Level of Char Siew 🍖 and I'm very happy to announce that I have finally found it here in this Restoran. YES!! ♥️
🐷 Quality of the Sio Bak
Sio Bak is not a Common Protein that you'd find for a WTM and I ordered this because it is Very Highly Raved in the Many Reviews for this Place. 🍖🤔 When I bite into it, I immediately understand why. 😋
The Skin was Beautifully Crispy and "Biscuity", this Sio Bak is Freshly Roasted. 🔥🍖 I really LOVE the Roasted Smokey Presence that it has. 🔥 Meat is not Super Firm with a Delightful Tender Meaty Chew with a Sublime Pork Sweetness that is Never Overly Porky. 🐷😋 What brings this Sio Bak Over the Top for me was that Decadent Fatty Layer. Oh that Beautiful Fat! 🤤 When I bite into it, it DISINTEGRATES into the Lovely Pool of Oil that swam in my Mouth. OMG BLISS!! ♥️ Yes, my Brain stopped Working again. 🤯 Hahaha!
Eating Everything together, you fully appreciate WHY I say the Noodles was an Excellent Carb Canvas. 🍜👍 It really acts like that. A Canvas, and Main Stage to let both the Char Siew and Sio Bak perform at their Best. 🐷🍖 Had this Noodle been drenched with an Overly Robust Earthy Sauce, the Dish would have been Too Rich if it makes any sense. 😅 I applaud the Decision to gracefully let this Noodle take a Backseat but yet support the Dish like this. 👍
This is really what I look forward in a Good Dish. 👍 Everything in Harmony. Even the 2 Meats Compliment each other, combining the Softness Meat Candy of the Char Siew 🐷 with the Crunchier Hardness of the Sio Bak Skin. 🐷 Everything all combined and all encapsulated with that Soft Tender Noodles 🍜 just hits the Spot for me. 一口脆皮肥烧肉，一口好叉烧，一口软绵绵的面，吃的几爽一下 😋

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts
At the Price of RM14.90 (S$4.60), this doesn't look like a Super Affordable Dish at Face Value but believe me, you are getting your Money's Worth. 💵👍 The Amount of Noodles and 16 Pieces of Decent Sized Protein Cuts given even for their "Small Size" feels Very Acceptable, Fair and Filling for the Price. 👍 Actually I'm more curious how much Liao they give for their Larger Sizes tbh. 😅
Quality of the Roasted Meats exceeded my Expectations. 🐷😋 They're Really Very Good. 👍This is not your Typical Paper Thin Dry Dry Red Colouring Type of Char Siew. 😅 In fact, the Char Siew here is the Type of "Meat Candy" Level that I love from You Kee in KSL City Mall I reviewed the other time. 🍖♥️ Sio Bak likewise is Roasted In-House with a Lovely Biscuity Skin. 一分钱一分货, 真材实料, 真功夫. 👍
If there is anything that may discourage you, iti'll probably be the Noodle Texture. 🍜🤔 If you are the type that Die Die ONLY go for Super QQ Bouncy type of Noodles, this is not it. 🙅♂️ The Noodles here are more towards 软绵绵 Soft Tender Type of Texture. I am personally ok with this because I feel this Soft Texture harmonizes well with the Overall Design of the Dish. 👍
I am Culinarily Very Impressed with whoever designed this Dish. 👍 Every Component here works. The Soft Tender "Yin" of the Noodles 🍜 was a Good Counter-Balance to the more Crunchy Crispy "Yang" of the Meat Proteins. 🍖 Everything was in Harmony. ♥️ From a Culinary Perspective, I understand why this Noodle is made the way its made. I totally respect what this Chef is trying to express in this Dish. Bravo. 👍
What really pushed this Place to get my Highest Top Score was the Customer Service. ♥️
I was seated in an Obscure Corner of the Eatery and even when I accidentally spilt my Soup, not only was Corrective Action taken immediately without me asking, 🤔 I was even given an Extra Bigger Bowl of Soup at No Extra Charge. 👍 I don't know about you, but this tells me that the Staffs here are Alert and has been Well-Trained with a Service-Oriented Focus. Excellent. ♥️
Many Restorans can cook a Brilliant Dish, but not many of them can actually provide a Good Customer Service that actually holistically elevates a Customer's Dining Experience. 🤔 As I mentioned before, Customer Service is the Main Reason why People bother to spend time and money to Dine Out. 🍽️ Otherwise, why bother when we can just comfortably stay in the Hotel Room and order GrabFood Delivery tio boh? 🛍️😅
I fully understand why this Eatery is considered a Top Rated WTM in KL. 🇲🇾👍 My Entire Experience from the Affordable and No Stingy Feel of Liao in the Dish, to the Culinary Quality, right down to the Customer Service Level that I personally experienced impressed me. 😄
I can even recommend this because the Michelin Rated 海脚人 Hai Kah Lang (KL Taman Cheras) is also nearby. 😄 So you can actually come to Taman Cheras to shunbian enjoy both Places in 1 Trip provided your Tummy can also tahan it lah. 😅 Hahaha! 不简单 this KL Taman Cheras Area. 😄 I'm sure there must be other Top Quality Restorans in this Area just waiting to be Explored and Discovered! ♥️ Highly Recommended!
