✈️ AirAsia Inflight Meal (2025 - Trip to Kuala Lumpur)

These are In-Flight Meal Packages offered by AirAsia (As of August 2024).
You can order them ala-carte while on Flight, or get them as a Bundle Flight Package. Depending on your order, it may come with a very small 250ml Bottle of Plain Water.

I'm not sure how often AirAsia changes their Menu but I've seen some reviews as far back as 2018 so I guess they have mostly kept to the same? Being In-Flight Meals, they are not cheap by any means, but when you're hungry 30,000ft in the air, these are the only options available if you adhere to their No Outside Food Policy.

Prawn & Chicken Wonton Noodles = S$4.00 (Economy Class)

Review Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (Average)

Unlike past Inflight-Meals I ordered with AirAsia, this one doesn't come with a Bottled Water.

That said though I got a pack of Free Snacks with a Bottled Water as a Goodwill Gift due to a 1 Hour Delay.

The Meal was served Very Hot in a Small Pack with a Decent Saltish Braised Aroma of WTM.
The Dish itself looks quite Bare Minimum that only consists of Noodles, 2 Small Slices of Cabbage and 4 Wantons at the Side.

The Amount of Noodles were Acceptable for what it is, about a Small Bowl worth. They are certainly on the Soft Side luckily not Mushy Nua Nua. They're also Noticeably Oily but that's because of the ่”ฅๆฒน Sauce they lum all over which I thought added alot to the taste. Slightly Salty but not Overly So. This Noodles taste like a Slightly Lower Quality Kopitiam Level of WTM but still Acceptable. Cabbage Slices were pretty much Tasteless. They were Softened but not Nua Nua. I personally feel they added nothing to the Dish.

The Wantons were slightly Larger Sized than the Standard Baby Small Wantons you'd expect from a Typical South East Asian style of Wantons. The Meat Filling within is Chicken instead of Pork. Taste isn't Overly Chickeny and the Bite Texture is like a Cross between a Fishball and Minced Bak Chor. Slightly Squishy, Slightly Mushy, Slightly Salty. I don't taste any Prawn in this or if there are any, very little must have been used. This is More Chicken than Prawn tbh.

Eating this is basically like eating a ่”ฅๆฒน้ข with Wantons. Overall a Slightly Below Average Level compared to a Kopitiam Level. What I feel this lacks most is some Sambal and Green Chilli which I'm surprised wasn't added. I'm quite surprised that Sambal was omitted since AirAsia Sambal for their Pak Nasser Nasi Lemak is actually Quite Decent and would pair well with this. Had they removed the Cabbage and replaced them with Green Chilli this would taste more like WTM.

Don't let my Average Score deter you from ordering this though. Although I would consider this as a "B-Tier" compared to their other In-Flight Meals, I can still recommend this if you're already bored of their other offerings and don't mind having some Noodles and have the expectation that this is a Non-Pork Non-Spicy WTM.

Grilled Peri Chicken with Jollof Rice = S$4.00 (Economy Class)
Review Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (Average)

This Particular Food Item is not found in their Physical AirAsia In-Flight Catalog so I'm guessing it's a quite a New Offering? Again, served Very Hot with a Nice Appetizing Grilled Chilli Tomatoey sort of Aroma.

The Dish comes with:
1 Very Small Broccoli
1 Small Slice of Carrot
Lots of Corn (About 3 Tbsps worth)
2 Pieces of what looks like Eggplant?
5 pieces of Chicken
Rice (Jollof Rice?)

The (Jollof) Rice were slathered with a Tomatoey, Slightly Spicy Sauce that doesn't taste bad. It has a somewhat Indian inspired Western Food Sauce sort of Taste. I'm guessing this is Peri Sauce. Saltish but not overly so. This Sauce does make the Rice abit Mushy. The Spiciness can linger abit on the Throat but it doesn't last long.

The Chicken Pieces were all Breast Cuts but they were Tender Soft to the Bite and doesn't taste Overly Chickeny. Actually the Peri Sauce slathered on them takes over most of the Taste Profile. Not Bad Tasting.

As for the 2 Mysterious Pieces of what I think is Eggplant? They are Soft and Mushy and slightly Sweetish Tasting. Maybe they're some sort of Fruit? I really couldn't tellCorn was Noticeably Sweet and tasted like some Canned Product. What I didn't like were the Carrot and Broccoli because they were Very Mushy and tastes like some Re-Thawed Product.

Other than the Overly Mushy Re-Thawed taste of both the Broccoli and Carrot, I thought the other ingredients tasted acceptable.
This Whole Dish is Highly Dependent on that Peri Sauce. Whether you like this Dish depends on whether you are ok with this Indian/Western Style of Sauce. I reckon most people would be ok with this. It does taste quite ๅผ€ๅ‘ณ at first, but because it is quite oily, I eventually got abit Jelak by the End of the Meal.

Again, I feel this Dish is ranked as their B-Tier. If you have never eaten AirAsia's Inflight Meals, I would still recommend their Pak Nasser's Nasi Lemak over this. Only choose this if you have already tried their other offerings I guess.
