This Place is Supposedly the Very First BKT Eatery in Klang, 🇲🇾 and apparently the Original Eatery that actually lay claim to have Invented BKT itself. 🐷🤔 So if anything, this is actually a Very Historically Important Eatery. 😳
Unfortunately, despite its Illustrious Legacy, this Place also gets my Lowest Score during this KL/Klang Holiday Trip. 😕👎 The Only Lowest Score actually. Let me Explain. 🤔

The Eatery is located in a Very Non-Descript Quiet Street. Relatively near Klang KTMB Train Station actually. 🚉 Nothing Grand, No Fanfare, it is a Very Old Looking Kopitiam that has such a Blackend Faded Signboard that the Name is actually hard to see. 😅

This Place is so Non-Descript that if you didn't actually do any research about it, you might not even give it a 2nd Glance if you pass by. 😅
Despite how Low-Key 低调 it was though, even at 8.30am on a Wednesday Morning when I was there just after they opened, there are actually quite a Few Customers, 🤔 all Somewhat Elder 大哥 Types. Very Likely Old Customers 老顾客 that has been patronizing this place for many years already. The Whole Place just has a very 世外桃源 feel. 😌♥️

The Eatery itself is owned by an Elder Man that looks like in his 60s or 70s. 🤔 The 1st Red Flag 🚩I noticed is his Constant Grumpy Face with Not a Single Smile. 😕 Not a Friendly Type of Owner. He even has this Uncomfortable Glare 🙄 when he looked at me that gave me an Unwelcoming and Unpleasant Feel. 😕 As Unwelcoming and Awkward as this First Impression felt, it wasn't even the Worst Thing as you will read on. 😕

This is the 1st BKT Eatery I visited in Klang and where I also learnt about the Unique "Chinese Tea Drinking Culture" of Klang. 🫖🍵 As I looked around, all the Other Patrons were practicing some sort of "Tea Ceremony" 🫖🍵 before their BKT was served up. Being a Complete Newbie to this and my 1st Visit to a Klang Eatery myself, of course I'm at a Situation where I felt Completely Lost. 😅

You ever get that feeling when you enter a Restoran where EVERYONE ELSE knows the "Correct Procedure" and you are the Only One that don't know? 😅 Same Awkward Social Anxiety Feeling here. 😅
I thought of approaching the Owner to ask but yea his Already Grumpy Uncomfortable Stare really turned me off. 😕 Even asking for a Packet of Tea Leaves from him felt like such an Awkward Chore. 🙄

So instead I looked to the Other Patrons for help and sought a More Friendly Looking Person to Politely ask how to Order, 🙏 and how to do this Unique "Tea Ceremony Thing" that they were all doing. 🫖🍵 I'm so relieved that the 大哥 I spoke to was Friendly Enough and Patiently Willing to Teach. 😄♥️

Hahaha! So if you are like me, Completely Clueless on what to do, Too Introverted to ask, 😅 I'll spare you the Social Anxiety that I experienced and you can just refer to my Klang Tea Ceremony Step by Step Guide 📝 that I provided previously. 👍
Really Fortunate to meet this Really Friendly 大哥 whom I conversed with throughout my Entire Stay at this Eatery. ♥️ Really Friendly Lad, he made my visit to this Unfriendly Eatery so much more Bearable. 😅

🍵 Quality of the Chinese Tea

Because its given in a Piece of Paper and not some Tea Sachet, I have No Idea what Tea Leaves are given. 🌱🤔 According to the Friendly 大哥 he reckoned its probably Pu-Er. 🫖🤔
I'm no Tea Connoisseur, so I have no idea if this is a Good Quality Tea. 🤔 To me it just tastes like a Regular Chinese Tea tbh. 🍵😅 I'm more interested in its purpose because drinking Tea for BKT is supposed to help make your BKT less Jelak especially if you eat a Fattier Cut. 🐷🍵

How to Order your BKT

Protip: DO NOT approach this Grumpy Boss to order anything before he announces that the BKT is ready. 🙅‍♂️ If you do, you will just be met with a Silent Uncomfortable Glare from him. 😒

Once he actually announces the BKT is ready, you can then approach him to order whatever you want. 👍 You will STILL get a Silent Uncomfortable Glare from him, 😒 but this time he will add a Slight Nod in Acknowledgement. 😅

🐷 BKT 大碗 = RM21.50

Before coming here, I had read Reviews about this Place and is prepared for it, 🤔 but I was still surprised to see how Little Amount of Soup Broth is given. 🍲🤔
The Whole Thing is really just a Small Bowl, 🥣 Very Little Soup Broth as you can see with a Hunk of Pork Cut. 🍖 No Idea what Cut this is, and I didn't bother to ask lest I get another Uncomfortable Awkward Glare from the Grumpy Owner. 😒

I also noticed that Optional DLC Ingredients like Beancurd Skins, Taupok, 🍄 Mushrooms, 🥬 Lettuce etc are usually not an Emphasis. In fact this Place doesn't even have them. 🤔According to the Friendly 大哥 who taught me the Tea Ceremony Procedures, Klangites tend to mostly focus more on the Quality of the Pork 🐷🤔 rather than Soup Broth 🍲🤔 when eating BKT. Hahaha this is actually almost similar to my Own Philosophy of ordering BKT at its Most Basic Fundamental Level without any Extra Ingredients. 😅

🍲 Quality of the Soup Broth

So, how does the 1st Original BKT Soup Broth actually taste like? Surprisingly Very Average Tasting. 🤔
There is Nothing Herbal about this, 🌿🙅‍♂️  its actually more like a Watery Braised 卤水. 🍲🤔 It doesn't taste any Different from a Typical Standard Braised and it's not even a Very High Level of Braised 卤水 even. 🤔

On my 2nd Taste, I did notice a Slight Sweetness that is probably powered by Goji Berries. 🍒🤔 I also noticed a Slight Pepperiness to it. Slightly Sweet, Slightly Salty but its still Overall a Very Normal and Average Braised 卤水 that you can find anywhere else. Really Nothing Special at all. 🤔
This is Completely Different from how you would typically expect from a Klang BKT. 🍲🤔 Apparently, THIS is how True Original Klang BKT is supposed to taste like. Completely Not Herbal at all. 🌿🙅‍♂️

🐷 Quality of the Pork Cut.

No Idea what Cut this is from but its a Big Hunk of Meat. 🍖 The Fat on this is not those Soft until Melt in Mouth, but is more Tender Firmish. 🤔 The Meat is Tender and Not Overly Porky.
Again, this Whole Pork Cut tastes Very Average and Normal. 🤔 It tastes just like any Regular Braised Pork you can find elsewhere. There is really Nothing Particularly Special about this. 🐷🤔

Why did this Place get my Lowest Score? 🤔

Not Surprisingly, it was the Grumpy Owner himself. 😒 As I mentioned, his Grumpy Unwelcoming Demeanour was already Bad enough to get my Lowest Score. 😕
What really took it over the top for me was when I actually overheard him TALKING BAD ABOUT ME with the other Patrons in the Eatery in Hokkien! 🗣️😳 Because I used Regular Mandarin to converse when I was here, he probably assumed that I do not understand Hokkien? 🤔 (Hahaha maybe I don't have a Typical Hokkien-Lang Look?) 😅

I'm not going to describe what he actually said, but suffice to say, it was Unpleasant and 难听. 😕 Not something you should ever be talking behind a Customer's Back, 🙅‍♂️ especially not when said Customer is literally sitting right in the Eatery within Earshot! 😅

Having heard enough, I suddenly switched and spoke in Hokkien to that Friendly 大哥 whom I've been conversing with. 😅 I'll never forget that Moment of Shock displayed on the Grumpy Owner's Face 😱😱😱 when he realized I could actually understand Hokkien and EVERYTHING he has said! 😒 Immediately he Completely Went Silent 🤐 and avoided looking at me. Sheesh! 😒

This is the Absolute WORST Thing you can do as an Eatery Owner towards your Customers. 👎 It is Not Only Poor Customer Service, It is Extremely Rude on a Fundamental Personal Level. 😕 真的是没有最基本的礼貌. I am Extremely Disappointed especially for an Elder Person like him to exhibit such an Unacceptable Behaviour and Poor Etiquette. 生为一个长者如此行为真的是很失礼. 😕

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts

At the Price of RM6.00 (S$1.90) for a Packet of Tea Leaves with Unlimited Servings of Hot Water is a Reasonable Price. 🤔 I'm no Tea Connoisseur so I cannot tell you if the Tea here is High Quality or not. 😅 To me, it tasted like an Average Tasting Chinese Tea.

What I'm more fascinated is this Unique Tea Culture that Klang has for eating BKT. 🍵🤔  If this is the First Time you are here in Klang and is a Complete Newbie, you will certainly be Completely Lost at what to do. 😅 Hahaha, I've done the Hard Work and braved the Social Anxiety for you so you can just refer to my Guide I've written previously for you to be prepared. 📝😅 Completely Optional of course, but I feel drinking Chinese Tea like this does Enhance the Overall Dining Experience. 🫖🍵

At the Price of RM21.50 (S$6.60) for this BKT, supposedly made from the Original Historical Creator of BKTs, I feel you should temper your Expectations. 🤔 Do not come here expecting this to taste like some Ultimate Life-Changing BKT. 🤔

What this really tasted like I feel is just a Regular Non-Herbal Braised BKT, 🤔 and its not even that Amazing a Quality. 🤔 Personally from a Culinary Viewpoint, this is a Very Basic Braised 卤水 utilizing very Standard Ingredients such as Cinnamon, Star Anise, etc that you can find a Recipe for online. 🤔
The Pork itself while a Huge Hunk, 🍖 isn't also that Amazing. 🤔 While it is Tender, the Fats isn't Melt in Mouth Quality, and Meat is Very Standard Tasting. This is Really a Very Average Tasting Level of Pork Cut tbh. 🐷🤔
Unfortunately though, as Historically Significant this Eatery was, my Experience here is Completely Marred by the Disappointing Behaviour of this Owner. 😕 The fact he actually dared to talk bad publicly about me in Hokkien with the Other Patrons assuming that I don't understand Hokkien really made me Extremely Disappointed with him. 😕

I'm actually slightly amused why he would think a Singaporean Chinese wouldn't understand Hokkien? 😅 Hahaha or was it just me he specifically targeted and our 八字相沖 that day? 🔥🔥🔥 I really don't know. 🤷‍♂️
I'm So Sorry to say that this was the Worst Experience I have experienced in Klang. 🇲🇾🤔 This Guy actually gave me an Extremely Bad 1st Impression of Klang especially when this was the First BKT Eatery I visited. 😕

If it was not for the Friendly Klangite 大哥 who was Patient and willing to teach me about the Klang Tea Ceremony Procedures, 🫖🍵 my Opinion of Klang might actually have been lowered even more. 👎 If this is your First Time in Klang, I Highly DO NOT recommend to visit this place lest your impression of Klang is Severely Tainted due to this Very Rude Owner. 🙅‍♂️ If I'm already being treated so poorly like this even as a Singaporean Chinese, 🤔 I cannot even imagine how much Worse it will be for Foreign Tourists who don't even speak the Language. 😕

I apologize that the Review of this Historical Klang Eatery that supposedly first invented BKT turned out to be such a Major Downer. 😕 I promise you that this will be the Only Lowest Score that I will give during this KL/Klang Trip. The Rest of the Reviews will not be as Downer as this. 🙏 Moving on,
I will showcase a Much More Courteous and also Famous 盛发桥底肉骨茶 Seng Huat Bak Kut Teh (perhaps Even More Famous) 😅 that Amusingly is actually somewhat related to this Particular BKT Eatery! 😅
