If you are researching on Famous Must-Eat Places in Kulai, you will most likely come across 2 Famous Beef Noodle Places. Restoran Hainan Hojiak Corner and this Mok Jiu.

They seem to have undergone some sort of Location Change and Re-Branding? It used to be called "Mok Gao 莫九" but now it is known as "Mok Jiu 莫搞". Hahaha can be abit Confusing because both the Chinese and English Name now Tombalek.

Protip:
If you are coming here by Grab, choose "Mok Jiu Restaurant" at Jalan Kenanga, not "Mok Gao Beef Noodle" at Taman Kulai where it used to be for about 60 Years.

Anyway, the Actual Eatery is a Very Big Place, Sparsely Renovated and Decorated and Air-Conditioned although not Very Cold when I arrived early in the Morning. It was still Comfortably Airy though.

While the Place understandably wasn't Crowded with Customers when I arrived at 5.35am on a Weekday Morning, I noticed Customers kept streaming in. By 6.35am there were alot more customers. Very impressive. 天还没有亮就吃牛肉麵了.

Even more interesting, most of the Customers are actually Parents bringing their Children in their School Uniforms here to eat for Breakfast before going to School.

As soon as I stepped in, I was greeted by a Friendly 大姐 with the Sweetest Smile.
This was an Impressive First Customer Impression for me. Service 满分.

That said though, I feel their Myanmar Staffs may need more Training. I had a Confused Chap deliver an Extra Cup of Beverage to me, and he still seems very Confused even when I showed him that I already have my Cup of Kopi-O on my Table. He eventually realized his Mistake and delivered the Beverage to another Table.

Not sure if its a System Issue or a Human Issue.
Anyway it took 1 Min for my Kopi-O and 4 Mins for the Rest of the Dishes. Do note, that they accept Cash Payment Only, no Debit or Credit Cards.

Quality of the Chilli

The Chilli here looks Spicy, but is only Very Mildly Spicy. Gritty in Texture, there are many small pieces of Chilli Cuts within.

Its also Saltish with an Aftertaste that tastes Similar to the Type of Chilli you'd get with Chicken Rice actually. Quite an Unusual Chilli served in a Beef Noodles Place.

Kopi O Kosong (Hot) = RM2.80

Robust and Full Body and Not at all Bitter Tasting, this Coffee had a Unique Slight "Sweetness" to it? Not at all Siap Siap. Relatively Strong Brew that will wake you up slowly. It certainly woke me up nicely at 5.30am.

Beef Kuih Tiew Dry = RM10.00
This comes with a Small Bowl and looks Unique with a layer of what looks like Garlic Oil and a Few Pieces of Pork Lard.

Quality of the Soup

The Soup has a Really Good Beefy Essence that is also Not Overly Beefy with a Unique Mix of Pork Lard and Shallot Oil. Saltish but also Not Overly So with maybe a Slight Hint of MSG Added. First time tasted such a Unique Soup for Beef Noodles. I haven't even eaten the Dish itself and I'm already impressed by this Soup Quality.

The Main Beef Noodles Dish comes with:
Kway Tiew Noodles
9 Cuts of Beef
2 Pieces of Stomach
Some Pickled Veggies
Coriander for Garnishing

The Lor Zhup tastes Saltish Sweetish and Thickened with Cornstarch.
Interestingly Not Beefy Tasting at all, this taste More like a Standard Braised Lor Zhup.

The Kway Tiew has an Aroma that smells like Chee Cheong Fun. I reckon its made using the Same Type of Flour. Slightly Broader in Width than a Regular Thin Kway Teow you'd normally find, the 口感 had a Slightly Thicker Bite. Not Doughy at all, this was a Tender Satisfying Bite of Carb especially when mixed with the Lor Zhup. Very Satisfying to 大口大口吃.

Quality of the Beef Pieces

Oh these were Good. Not the Smooth Velvetted Type, I liked that they had a Slightly Firmer Chew with a Very Natural 原味 Original Beefy Taste that also isn't Overly Beefy. Not Overly Salty too, this was a Very Decent Cut of Fresh Beef Slice. I remember my Friend Francyn from my Former FB Group saying that I would enjoy the Firmer Meaty Beef here. She is absolutely right on the Money. This is a Good Meaty Beef Texture that I like. Delish.

Quality of the Beef Stomach

Tender to the Bite, I'd describe these feeling like a Soft Carpet brushing the Roof of my Mouth due to the Soft Tender Bristles they have. Clean Tasting and Slightly Beefy, these were Decent Tasting.

Eating Everything together was Satisfying. Abit of Meat and Abit of Kway Teow, the Whole Dish was Braised and Beefy with the Beef Slices being the Main Actor supported by the Rest of the Other Ingredients. Adding some Chilli to this adds an Exciting of "Almost Spiciness" that enhances the Taste.

Beef Soup (All Mix) = RM12.00

This Dish comes with:
11 Pieces of Beef
4 Stomach Cuts
4 Tendon Cuts

Quality of the Soup

Tastes exactly the Same as the Small Bowl that was given in their Dry Version, but I thought this tasted a Tad Less Saltier? This is not an Unheard of Practice. During my Travels in Malaysia, I noticed that Many Eateries actually tend to put More Salt in a Dish if you order Carbs.

Quality of the Beef Cuts

Basically the Same Cuts as the ones in their Dry Version and because its not coated with the Lor Zhup, you can appreciate the Even More 原味 Natural Beefy Taste and Texture. Solid Clean and Juicy.

Quality of the Beef
Stomach

More of these to Enjoy, More of that "Soft Carpet Feeling" in the Roof of my Mouth. Shiok.

Quality of the Beef
Tendon

Compared to others I've had, these weren't 100% Smooth until Melt in Mouth Quality.

They still had a Slight Chew to them but still Decently Tender Enough.

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts

At the Price of RM2.80 (S$1.00) was a Decent Price for this Coffee.

Not the Type that will Smack you Awake, but its still a Decent Strong Brew that will Gentlly Wake you up Fresh.

At the Price of RM10,00 (S$3.20) for the Beef Kuih Tiew Dry is definitely worth the Money.

Amount of Meat Pieces were Not Stingy and it was Satisfying to 大口大口吃 both Meat, Kway Tiew and Zhup together. If you enjoy something that is Zhup Zhup type, you won't go wrong with this one.

At the Price of RM12.00 (S$3.80) for this Beef Soup (All Mix) was slightly More Expensive than their Dry, but you do get significantly more Meat. I personally like this because their Soup Base itself is Very Decently Made.

Culinarily Unique Beef Soup that isn't Only One-Dimensionally just Beefy but cleverly mixes in both Shallot Oil and Pork Lard together. This is the First Time I see Pork Lard being used for a Beef Soup like this. Never knew it paired so well together.

Other than the Slight Goof Up by the Confused Myanmar Staffs, I have No Issues with this Place. I especially appreciate the Warm and Friendly 大姐 with a Very Welcoming Demeanor that instantly gave me a Very Good 1st Customer Impression.

What I am even more impressed is that this is a Place that the Locals actually bring their Children to eat before going to School so you can imagine how important this place is for the People of Kulai. With a 60 Years of History, this is an Eatery that is a Part of Most Kulai Folks Childhood I'd reckon.

Culinarily Impressive Dishes, Decent and Welcoming Customer Service, I now understand why this Place is Famous. This Place deserves its Reputation. If you enjoy Beef Noodles, definitely don't miss out this Place when you're in Kulai!
