Once again, Apologies for the Late Post! ๐
Today's JB Exploration brings me to Taman Setia Indah.
Launched in 2001, this is a relatively young 25 years old town according to Wikipedia. ๐ค Again another Relatively Unknown Suburb for most Singaporeans, I don't see much Singapore Cars around. Even Local Grab Drivers were surprised to fetch me here. ๐
Even they themselves say it's very rare to see Singaporeans come to this Suburb. ๐
Hahaha this may be true for me 20 years ago when the Infamous JB Red Taxis were the Only Convenient Transport of Choice. ๐๐ But now in 2026 with how Safe and Convenient Ride-Hailing like Grab has been and with GPS Technology, no place in Malaysia JB is truly ever Ulu anymore. ❤️
Compared to Yesterday's More Rural and Rustic Kampung Pandan, this Taman Setia Indah is noticeably more Upmarket and Posh. ๐ค More Gated Residences especially as you travel northwards towards Eco Palladium. ๐ค "Rich People Zone" so to speak as mentioned by a Local Driver hahaha. ๐
The Whole Place is designed to look like some Stereotypical Faux European Town or something.
Walking around here kindda gives the feeling like you're no longer in Malaysia anymore. ๐
Here are some Highlights of Today's Trip:
ๆฐๅไบฌ็ฒฟๆกไป New Pekin (Eco Palladium) is a Place I especially aimed for simply due to this TikTok Video: https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSuXGhRv9/ ๐ค Basically there is a Regular 70 Years Old Singaporean "Uncle Lee" ๐ด who will without fail visit this Every Saturday no matter how Jam the Custom is. ๐ณ So apparently he's a Former Malaysian and the Reason he keeps coming here to eat was "ๆๆ็ธ็ธๅฝๅนด็ ฎ็ๅณ้". ❤️
Heartwarming no? ❤️ But of course, we see such Promo Videos all the time lah. Sometimes also dunno Real or Not. ๐ So I wanted to check it out myself. ๐ค And I must say, this "Uncle Lee" really has taste. ❤️ This Kway Teow Kia ACTUALLY has a Noticeable Herbliness in its Broth. ๐ Not just a Simple Braised ๅคๆฐด. Whether this Uncle Lee Story is real or not doesn't matter. I personally enjoy this Kway Teow Kia myself. ๐
Next up is Morihana. Located in Santai Square, which is nearby Eco Palladium area, their Signature Cake is called "Rose Watermelon" which was quite Viral? ๐ Basically a Slice of Watermelon in a Cake. ๐ Culinarily this originally baffled me. Watermelon is such a Wet Fruit, won't it make the Cake Nua Nua? ๐๐ค
When I bite into it all thoughts of Nua Nua flew out of the window and I TOTALLY GET IT. ❤️ Every Component used in this has an Actual Function to elevate the Whole Cake on a Whole. ❤️ Whoever designed this has a Good Baking Sense and Creativity. Brilliant. ๐
Ok so you might be thinking: "Oei Oei Oei, both your Highlights are Eco Palladium, nothing to do with Taman Setia Indah leh." ๐ Hahaha I hear you! ๐ This is where the First Preview Video in this Blog Post comes in! ๐ Malaysia JB has ALOT of Gigantic Kopitiams that turn into Mini Food Streets during Evening Time. One of them I featured previously Restoran Triple Seven Three 7773 ็พ้ฃๅ (Kopitiam) in Bukit Indah. So what do you get when you have TWO of such Gigantic Kopitiams combined together? ๐ค
Well, you get this Amazing Evening Food Street in Taman Setia Indah! ๐ Its a Combination of both Restoran Hong Yun and Restoran New Era Hahaha I don't know if this Food Street even has a Name so I just call it "Hong Yun New Era Evening Food Street ็พ้ฃ่ก"! ๐ Fuiyoh Really Popular and Crowded with the Locals as you can see! ๐
And of course a Couple of More Places I visited and a Sneak Peak of the Other Dishes I ate! ๐

Hi Ryan, from Setia Indah then Eco Cascadia, Eco Palladium and Eco Spring..1 stone kill 4 birds.....Hahaha. Anyway nothing much except makan, can visit at 1 go. Sometime I do my morning walk at Setia Indah park infront of Hong Yun kopitiam or Eco Spring. Opposite Morihana there is a park for excercise. Behind the park is oil palm plantation also open for hiking. Once I went in to hike alone, hahahaha....Got other people hiking too, so I just follow. Hahaha...lucky no snakes.
ReplyDeleteYa I love this area. ❤️ Taman Setia Indah the area onwards many places to explore and makan. ๐ The Santai Square where this Morihana is located is quite interesting although quiet. I will certainly re-visit in the future. ๐ Oh didn't know got Oil Palm Plantation. hahah didn't even know such places can hike one hahaha. ๐ I always thought such Plantations are Private Property. ๐ Good tip though for Hiking Fans. ๐ถ
DeleteThis Lian Bin was originally Lucky Star at Taman Daya, business was really good so boss also lansi lan yong type. Then few years down the road he sold Lucky Star and open Lian Bin. But the new owner of Lucky Star, their pork noodle soup and pan mee no where near the original. Still got people eat lah but picky eater like me must make sure value for money. Hahaha....
DeleteBeside Morihana the woodfire burger also very nice but open at 12pm. On top the hill, Soil JB cakes, bread & pastry also nice. I prefer the old Soil JB, the building was covered with creppy plants look like haunted house. Go there makan like sitting in haunted house. Then they closed for a while, when reopen they took of the creepy plants. Aisey......no more haunted look.
Good call on Lian Bin. ๐ Thanks for the very interesting history indeed. ๐ This was a Very Decent Place. Popular too with the Locals as I observed Customers keep coming in Non-Stop. ๐ The Kway Teow Tng Soup was very Decent, ๆธ ็ and good to drink. I also like their Mee Hun Kueh too. ๐ Nicely done and Never Doughy. It was a pity they are going to discontinue this MHK by 28-April so do give this a try while you still go the chance.
DeleteWoodfire, I've tried before in Taman Suria a few years back. ๐ค Its decent yes, but its like those Overly Zhup Gao Gao type of Burger where I feel is like too overkill and don't really taste the Actual Patty. ๐ค Next time got chance I'll retry again. Ya I also saw Soil when i was there. Next time got chance will visit. ๐ I'm concerned about Santai Square itself though. ๐ค Even on a Saturday it was relatively Quiet. hopefully they have enough customer footfall to sustain their business.
The oil palm plantation is private property but owner allow hikers to enter, if hike further it will link to somewhere around Puteri Wangsa hill. I walk few miles only then u turn, dare not go too deep. Santai square a bit quiet, when got event then sibeh crowded. Once a year the developer will held food fair like atas pasar malam. Last year I went, the chai tau kueh was good. Will info you when they have food fair.
ReplyDeleteEco Palladium restaurant/cafe, many didn't survive. But alot of office so the makan shop customera mainly are those working there. Brew Master is my regular place, most of their nenu also very nice. Shang bar & restaurant, its like a hidden place. Downstairs is flower shop, go in need to push their special door to enter the cafe.

DeleteHi Ryan, Aisey Lian Bin want to discontinue MHK. Hopefully got the time to drop by before 28th. So far their MHK is one of the best, love the texture. Maybe MHK chef retire? Their bitter gourd soup also nice.
ReplyDeleteThere is a kwey tiaw tng stall at Restaurant Wang Min Jalan Sagu 15, Taman Daya. The pork noodle soup also very nice, this guy who cook the KTT is previously from Lian Bin. Not sure if they are related. But this Wang Min boss lansi lan yong type, his wife economy noodles cannot eat, taste really lousy.
Setia Indah Chicken delight not bad, beside fried chicken, they have other menu too alot of selection. Also alot kopi tiam around the wet market area, easily more than 10 kopi tiam. Weekend morning Setia Indah quite jam and most of the kopi tiam very pack.
Yo hello ๐ ya drop by before 28th ba. I do like their MHK too. Interestingly, when I tried to ask who made the MHK, the staffs say is their ่ๆฟ but boss also not around. I reckon these were premade and not made on the spot? ๐ค But this also doesn't explain why the MHK takes 20mins min to cook as per their menu ๐ค
DeleteYa I did saw Chicken Delight and I wanted to try because mainly this is a Nostalgic Brand. ❤️ I can't remember if it was also called Chicken Delight but the Logo is very familiar. I remember eating this in Singapore once upon a time. Abit too full tho hahaha perhaps next time. ๐ I'm glad to find it in Malaysia.
Hi Ryan, the chicken delight & logo is the same original chicken delight, but this Setia Indah outlet is 2 in 1, Chicken Delight & The Coffee that's why they have cafe menu. They have hokkien mee also.
ReplyDeleteBy the way Santai Square got event on the 23rd & 24th May from 4pm to 11pm, this year camping theme. So will have food stalls, children games, live band.

ReplyDeleteLast Sat went to eat king size roti jala with mutton curry at Raden Cafe. Their laksa johor also very nice. After chiak pah pah went cats shelter to do spring cleaning trimmed the trees, cut grass and swept dried leaves. Burn calories at the same time.hahahaha....
oh ya u mention Raden Cafe before. next time go try. ๐so cute can play with meows and burn calories too. hahaha ๐๐ฑ
