Hey Everyone,
Apologies for the Late Post! ๐
Today's JB Trip brings me to a Brand New Location: Kampung Pandan ็ญๅ
ฐ
Probably not a Familiar Suburb for Most Singaporeans. Indeed I didn't see any Singapore Cars around. ๐ค According to Wikipedia, this is a Chinese New Village ๆฐๆ comprising of Pandan Town, ๐️ the first "Kangchu" ๆธฏไธป Settlement in Johor which was established in 1844 and several large housing estates in the vicinity. (Source: Wikipedia)

Untouched Rustic Vibes compared to the rest of Johor Bahru, this Suburb really feels like a Kampung. ❤️ In fact, it gave me very Fond Memories Similar to Kulai or Kelapa Sawit that I visited the other time actually. ❤️ A Simple and Humble Suburb where you can still find a RM6.50 Wanton Mee and a Decent Cup of RM2.00 Kopi-O. Lovely. ๐
Here are some Highlights of Today's Trip:
First up is ็ญ่ญ็พ่้ข Pandan Mutton Soup. ๐ This is a Famous Eatery that has been here for Many Years, Famous for their Roasted Lambs (Only on Weekends) and Herbal Mutton Soups. ๐๐ Really Friendly Boss and Staffs, indeed this is Really Good. Clean, Not Overly Gamey, this was Very Well Done. ๐ Definitely worth a Visit.

Next is Osman Goat Farm. ๐ Obviously this is not an Eatery, but I'm featuring this because they are the ones that supply the Mutton to Pandan Mutton Soup. ๐ Its Open to Public to visit and you can even go into the Goat Pens to take a look at the Goats, Lambs or Sheeps up close! ๐๐ณ
Relatively Cleanly Maintained, it was a Surreal Feeling to be eating Mutton Soup, and also visit the Farm where the Meat actually came from. ๐ This is Literal "Farm to Table" Concept. ❤️ They are a Butcher that sells to the Public too and I've bought some Goat Milk to try. Really Interesting Place that I will feature in the Future. ๐

Finally is Restoran Racci ไนฑ็. Hahaha Adorable Name aside, Racci is the name of a Super Adorable Live Racoon Mascot they have here! ❤️ Hahaha for some reason, today's trip seems like a Nature Excursion, see alot of Animals. ๐ Got Lambs, Goats and even a Racoon.
Racoons are of course very rare to see in South-East Asia and this Little Fella was so Super Adorable and Friendly! ❤️ The Eatery itself actually is quite Decent in terms of Culinary but ... ๐ค well I'll elaborate more when we come to its review in the Future! ๐

And a Couple of More Places I visited and a Sneak Peak of the Other Dishes I ate Today! ๐

This is a Coffee Shop that is Very Highly Recommended by Amelia for its Late Night Eats here in Kampung Pandan, but unfortunately it is currently closed from 10-April-2026 to 16-April-2026. ๐
Hahaha ๆฒกๆ็ผๅ no chance to try this out. Perhaps Next Time I guess. ๐

And so this ends Day 1 of my April 2026 JB Trip Exploration of Kampung Pandan. ๐
What will I find Tomorrow Day 2?
As always: Queue? What Queue? ๐
Hi Ryan, with grab sure no problem to go kampong Pandan. I used to stay at Kampong Pandan with my in law. Our house is further up, after the playground. So far this the best mutton soup, Hard to find good herbal mutton soup. During the 80's at Taman Pelangi got 1 hailamese guy sell mutton soup, it was really good. After that coffee shop close, no chance to find out where he relocate.
ReplyDeletePandan also got kuih tiaw kia, I don't eat but my family said Pandan kuih tiaw kia is the best.
Wah, interesting, you even went to the farm. Hihihi...
Ya indeed it was convenient to go Pandan using Grab. ๐ Oh interesting, didn't know your ่ๅฎถ is there. ๐ก I LOVE the vibe of this place, Kampung Pandan may be the Most Rustic and Slower Paced Suburb I've visited so far in JB. Really love the Kampung Vibe. ❤️ This suburb really reminds me fondly of Kulai and Kelapa Sawit.❤️
DeleteYes I enjoy the Mutton Soup, ่ฏๆไธ็ๅค gao gao. ๐๐ Owner was a Very Friendly Jolly ๅคงๅฅ also. ๐ Yay i saw the Kueh Teow Kia place, I think its called ่ๅ็ฒฟๆกไป Liang Fatt. Abit too Full tho hahaha, so didn't manage to try. ๐ Perhaps next time visit together with that Sin Chop Evening Kopitiam you mentioned. ๐
Ya hahaha love that Osman Goat Farm. ๐ Obviously not something we can find easily in Singapore and the fact the Owner allow Customers to actually enter the Goat Pens was a Treat. ๐ Boss Amin himself was a Very Friendly Young Lad that speaks Decent English too. ๐ This is my first time seeing Live Goats/Sheeps up close. ๐ They're such Jittery Animals tho, very scare of Humans. ๐ Lee Nah was saying "Oei, they can sense you eat them of course they scare lah" Well she's not wrong ๐
Also, I realize Goats don't only say "Baaaa". ๐ค Hahaha for some reason, they also sound like "Drunk Old Men" the way that some of them make noise, almost sounds like some Language too. ๐ค๐ Really interesting experience. I also have not drank Goat Milk before, especially not bought Fresh from a Farm like this. Apparently need to Boil too before drinking. I can't wait to give it a try. ๐
ReplyDeleteHi Ryan, my in law house is at the end, after playground last lane on the left. Kampong Pandan land are 99 years type. Our house used to have alot of fruits trees including durian tree. We later sold our house share to my BIL since he is staying there. Then last 2 years my BIL spent RM2K plus asked people chopped of the fruit trees avocado, longan, rambutan, durian, mango, soursop, dukong, star fruits. All these are planted by my FIL during the 70's, so now no chance climb tree to pluck rambutan. Those days when fruits season so shiok can climb tree to harvest fresh fruits. And maid will planted vegetables, tapioca for everyone to enjoy.
Now my BIL retired don't know what "wing" he start planting again... but some fruits take years to bear fruits.
During the 80's the playground area at night got several Chinese stalls, the best is ikan bakar and laksa. Those days si ham so cheap, so our laska always got 2 big table spoon of laksa. hahaha... These 2 stalls retired already. Then the Sin chop hawker stalls I think started some where late 80's or early 90's. The ikan bakar couple, they both was working in gold smith workshop, after married they resigned and started the ikan bakar stall. Her husband during his younger days really very handsome, now still look good. The wife very aunty look even during her younger days wear spec, big size and short. Earning good money from ikan bakar but no children. The sister CKT also good, the fried chicken stall also nice. This place is consider legend including the mutton soup, beef balls noodle, wantan mee and KTK.
Thanks for sharing. ๐ I'm glad this evoked a Fond Past memory for you. ❤️ When I was exploring the Playground area, I could tell the place does have some age too. That little "Hawker Centre" especially. Can tell it has seen better times. Next time got chance visit Sin Chop again ba. ๐
