Whenever there are any Food Blogs discussing about Kulai, this Cafe will surely be featured so I thought I'd check it out. Its located in a Row of Shophouses and interestingly there are No Signboards or anything other than a Small Menu. There is a Flight of Staircase you will need to climb, so you might want to take note of this if you have Mobility Issues.

Interestingly, Shoes are Not Allowed within. The Actual Cafe is renovated to look like Someone's Home with a Very Wooden Aesthetic. Non-Airconditioned with an Emphasis on Retro Nostalgia as you can see. Every Classic Memorabilia you can think of is here, from Old 老夫子 Comics, VIntage Star Wars Toys to even Classic Nokia Mobile Phones!
The Music they play in the Background was Amusingly "Backstreet Boys: I Want It That Way" which was both Delightful and also a little bit sad because apparently this song is already considered as Retro.
NOOoooo when did this Song become Retro!?!?
Hahahaha! What the heck man Aiyoh I feel so OLD!! ^_^;

I find this location the Most Airy and Cooling and apparently it overlooks Old Kulai Town Market if you're into History.

There is only 1 Guy Manning the Place and he is Quiet and Reserved. It took 11 Mins for the Kopi and Cheesecake, and 19 Mins for the Garlic Bread.
And that is already considered fast because that Family that ordered after me got theirs at a even later time. Because there is only 1 Staff around, do take note of the Longer than Usual Wait Time even on a Non-Crowded Weekday.

Coffee Black (House Brand) = RM10.00
So they have 2 Types of Coffee Beans, "House Brand and "Single Origin".
No Idea what to choose, I chose the Former which is supposed to be Chocolatey.
Served in an Adorable Dainty Looking Cup, its brewed from a Coffee Maker. The Coffee does have a Slight Hint of Dark Chocolate Aroma but the actual Coffee itself doesn't taste Chocolatey. While its Smooth to Drink with No Siap SIap, its not a Very Strong Coffee actually.
What I do notice is this Smooth 滑滑 effect on my Tongue with a Very Slight Hint of Bitterness. No Idea if this is considered a Good Coffee. Perhaps slightly better than Kopitiam Level of Coffee? But perhaps only slightly.

Garlic Bread = RM8.00
This took the Longest to serve up at 19 Mins but that is because they took time to heat it up?
Impressively Presented, there is a Delicious 浓浓 Garlic Bread Aroma wafting from it.
Not sure if they actually baked this Bread themselves or supplied from a Bakery, but it has a Nice Toasted Crust. The Garlic Spread itself tastes Homemade. Taste of Garlic is there but its also Not Overly Garlicky. What I liked was the inclusion of some Herbs, probably Oregano that elevated this with a Decent Herbly 香气.
The Sesame Seeds on top aren't for show either as I thought they also added a Sesame Seed Flavour to the Bread. Definitely higher quality then a Typical Garlic Bread you'd normally get from a Pizza Parlour or a Typical Bakery.

Cheesecake of the Day = RM12.00
I've read somewhere that this is apparently made in-house. I appreciate the drizzle of some Honey Caramel on the Plate. That said, this is still a Pretty Standard Cheesecake made with Cream Cheese.
The Bottom Base isn't a Simple Digestive Biscuit + Butter Mix however and I think its a Cake Base?
The Cheese are tastes pretty standard, Not Overly Cheesy, but also Nothing Particularly Special if you have eaten a No-Bake Cheesecake of this type.

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts
At the Price of RM10.00 (S$3.20) isn't cheap for a Coffee obviously, but for a Cafe, I suppose this is considered Affordable?
But I'll be honest, I think it just tastes so so for me. Not Super Amazing, Not Diluted, it is what it is.
At the Price of RM8.00 (S$2.60) for the Garlic Bread actually felt like the Most Affordable and Worthwhile Item to order.
While not a Die Die Must Eat, this thing looked, smelt and tasted Very Decent.
At the Price of RM12.00 (S$3.80) for this Cheesecake didn't feel cheap for me.
Its a Decent Cheesecake, but again, also tasted like any Similar Type of Cheesecake out there.

At the End of the Day, this place feels like its Main Selling Point is its Very Instagrammable Nostalgic Retro Aesthetic rather than its Foods. I reckon people come here to take photos 打卡 rather than actually eat. Nothing wrong with that, as this is what Cafes do. That said, I quite enjoy the Garlic Bread myself and I can recommend it. I have no issues with this place personally, although its not a Place that I would re-visit again.
If you are looking for a Retro Nostalgic Cafe in Kulai to 打卡 post on Social Media, don't mind the Prices in their Menu, don't mind that the Place is Non-Airconditioned and can feel a Tad Warm, I can still recommend to give it a try.
Aiyoh but Jin Gek Sim man. 😅
When did "Backstreet Boys: I Want It That Way" become a "Retro Song" all of a Sudden? 😅
Hahaha Time Really Does Flies! Aiyoh 老了, 真的老了. 😅
