JB Trip Preview - Permas Jaya

Hey Everyone,
Once Again, Apologies for the Late Post! ๐Ÿ˜…

Hahaha, Agar Tarik from Yesterday's Extreme Eastern Exploration of Pasir Gudang. ๐Ÿ˜…
Today's JB Trip brings me to a nearer but also Brand New Location:
 Permas Jaya (็™พไธ‡้•‡)

WARNING: This Preview contain Photos of (Cute) Exotic Animals like
้ฃž้ผ  Flying Squirrel and ๆžœๅญ็‹ธ Civet Cat being consumed. If you are the Squeamish type, DO NOT view this post. ๐Ÿ™…‍♂️ If you are Uncomfortable at any Point about this Preview Post, just Stop Reading and Walk Away. ๐Ÿšถ Do not come Screaming, Shouting, Condemning or Protesting in the Comments Section. Thank You.

Compared to the More Rural Countryside Feel of Pasir Gudang yesterday, Permas Jaya leans More Towards Modern City-Life Feel. ๐Ÿ™️ Nearer to the Causeway, but still not a Place that Most Singaporeans would go. ๐Ÿค” At least I didn't see any Singapore Cars around. ๐Ÿš— Perfect for a JB Weekend Exploration! ๐Ÿ˜…

A Very Self-Contained Town, it has its own Aeon Mall (albeit a Smaller One), and very much a Popular Location for the Locals. ๐ŸŽ‰ Some Places even have a Taman Mount Austin Vibe. Plenty of Eateries and Entertainment all around. ๐Ÿ˜„

Here are some Highlights of the Trip:

Longtime Readers of this Food Blog will know that I am a Keen Explorer for Exotic Foods ้‡Žๅ‘ณ and will never pass the Chance to give it a try. ๐Ÿ๐ŸฆŽ๐Ÿ— Such Foods seems especially quite Rare in JB from my Travels ... Until Today. ๐Ÿ˜ณ
Introducing Restoran Makanan Laut Honbin ๅฎ้‹ๆตท้ฎฎ้ค้คจ. I really must credit Johorkaki who introduced this place that I got to know from his 2024 Blog Entry. ๐Ÿ“ As this is a Tze Char Place, he was there to eat their Normal Tze Char Dishes... but this particular line he wrote intrigued me: ๐Ÿค”

"Honbin is also famous for their frog, wild boar, terrapin, deer, etc dishes."

To be fair, I've eaten all these before, but something tells me that this place is so much more. ๐Ÿค” Relying on merely just a Hunch, I thought I'd give this place a try. ๐Ÿ˜… I would soon find out what a Deep Rabbit Hole this visit was! ๐Ÿ˜ณ
Not only do they sell the above Standard Stuffs, they got even more Exotic Animals! ❤️ (Subject to Availability of course)
Turtle Soup and Wild Boar Meat I've eaten before. Its the Next 2 Rare Animals that some people might find to be Very Controversial: ้ฃž้ผ  Flying Squirrel ๐Ÿฟ️ and ๆžœๅญ็‹ธ Civet Cat. ๐Ÿ†

ESPECIALLY CIVET CAT because isn't this the Animal that caused the SARS Epidemic back in 2003? ๐Ÿ’‰๐Ÿค” Ohhhh boy!!! So ... if Singapore ever have a SARS 2.0 in the Coming Weeks or Months, I guess I'm Patient Zero. ๐Ÿ˜…

If you are interested to visit, do note they ONLY ACCEPT CASH. ๐Ÿ’ต No Debit/Credit Cards. Being Exotic Dishes, it also goes without saying that the Prices are not Cheap. Exotic Meats are also of course subject to Availability.

๐Ÿ— F05 Ginger Wild Boar Meat (Small) =
RM26.00
๐Ÿข R12 Herbal Turtle Soup = RM46.00
๐Ÿฟ️ ้ฃž้ผ  Flying Squirrel = RM120.00
๐Ÿ† ๆžœๅญ็‹ธ Civet Cat = RM68.00
๐Ÿฅค Chinese Tea (Cold) = RM0.80

No Service Charges
Final Total Cost = RM280.80 (S$90.40)
(Hahaha, I like how the Receipt just says: "Meat, Meat, Meat, Meat") ๐Ÿ–๐Ÿ˜…

This Place is Very Popular among the Locals as you can see. ๐Ÿ‘
Reservations are recommended if you want to come during Peak Hours.

It is possible to Walk-In though, 4.00pm on a Sunday is fine.
By 5.30pm, I noticed Crowds started to stream in.
๐Ÿค”

Is it worth the Money? ๐Ÿค” For me, paying Sub-S$100 to be able to eat things that I can NEVER EVER hope to ever eat in Singapore is worth it. ๐Ÿ‘ Are they even Legal to Eat? ๐Ÿค” I'll be honest, I'm not sure. ๐Ÿ˜… Johorkaki did mention that "Honbin has the proper license to serve certain wild game like terrapins, wild boar and squirrels."

As for how they actually taste, I guess you'll have to wait for my Future Review of this Place to find out! ๐Ÿ˜„
(Spoiler: They get my Highest Top Score, and its not just about the Taste and Quality.) ๐Ÿ‘

----------------------------------------------------------
Moving on, the Final Highlight is really the Main Reason why I visited this Suburb. This is the
Permas Jaya Sunday Pasar Malam! ๐Ÿ˜„ Stretching about 130 metres in length, it is Very Popular as you can see! ❤️ I love the Super ไบบๆฐ”็ƒญ้—น Vibe of Malaysia's Pasar Malams. ❤️ Definitely worth a Visit if you're here in Permas Jaya on a Sunday!

And of course a Couple of More Places I visited and a Sneak Peak of the Other Dishes I ate! ๐Ÿ˜„
