Tea Garden is a Modern Kopitiam Franchise that I see quite often whenever I'm exploring around JB. This particular one is one of their Sub-Brand I'm guessing? 🤔

It was quite crowded at 6.50pm on a Friday Evening and I was lucky to be able to get a Seat as a Solo Diner. 👍 If its already this crowded even during a Weekday, I'd imagine the Weekend Crowd to be much worse. 🤔 Staffs are Friendly and Polite and keep to themselves. Ordering of Food is thru QR Code Menu System.

The Milk Tea was the 1st to be served up in 2 Mins, followed by the Char Kway in 5 Mins and finally the Porridge in 8 Mins. Everything was up in 8 Mins which was quite impressive considering the amount of customers during that time. 👍

102 Hainanese Milk Tea (Iced, No Sugar) = RM5.90

Never heard of a Hainanese Version of Milk Tea tbh so I gave this a try and I did crave a Cold Beverage that time. 😋 It was served in a Big Cup and was Icey Cold. ❄️ There is a Nice Rich Tea Taste and even without Sugar, I still found it to be Delicious and Creamy tasting. 😋 I guess I've pretty much gotten used to Zero Sugar Beverages by now. 😅

That said though, I can't help but feel this may be brewed from a Lipton Tea Bag. 🤔 Dunno why, just got this feeling about it. Again, not sure whats so Hainanese about this, it tastes pretty much like a Ice-Cold Regular Milk Tea. 🫖

719 Char Kway = RM9.90

Ordered this because this was one of the Items that was quite raved by Google Reviewers for this Eatery. 😋 It's also listed as a "Must Try" on their Menu.
The Chilli condiment served with this has a Noticeable Presence of Garlic with a Slightly Gritty Mouth Texture. 🌶️ It almost feels like it would be spicy but its actually not spicy. 🤔 Its so not spicy that I feel even children will have no issues with it. 👦👧 Quite Unusual Chilli for a Char Kway.

The Dish itself is presented on a Beautiful Classic Chinese Looking Plate and the Amount of Kway looks quite Generous. 👍 There is a Very Nice Fried Savoury 蛋香味 Eggy Aroma. 🍳 Bite Texture of the Kway is Soft but not Super Soft type and was abit Dryish. What I really liked are the Sprinkling of Fried Onion Pieces and Chai Poh which gives it an Occasional Crunch and Saltish Hit. 😋

The Overall Taste is Sweetish Salty, and leaning more towards Sweet but its also Not Overly Sweet. 👍 Understandably there is No Wok Hei in this, but this was still a Very Decent and Acceptable Tasting Char Kway. Totally understand why this is Popular among Google Reviewers. 👍 That said though, I thought the Chilli/Sambal Condiment should have a Spicier Kick because it did feel abit out of place and didn't really pair with this Char Kway. 🤔

836p Baked Herbal Chicken Porridge RM19.90 (Kuu Specialty)

This is one of the Specialty of this place and I'm surprised there aren't any Google Reviewers who mentioned about this Dish because it looked so Unique! 😄
The Presentation looks very Beautiful and Atas and it looks exactly like how its shown in their Menu. 👍 I love the way they drizzle the Braised Herbal Sauce at the Side in a Conscious Artistic Effort. 👍 The way this is presented, it would not look out of place in a Higher End 酒楼. Whoever designed this Dish knew what they were doing because it is challenging to make what is basically a Chicken Porridge look Artistic. 😄

The White Porridge itself is not just Plain Porridge as it is Slightly Salted with a Subtle Undertone of what tastes like Peanut and Cuttlefish. 🥜🦑 I appreciate the effort here.

The Braised Sauce they lum in this is Definitely Herbal with has a Noticeably Delightful Sweetish Herbal Taste. 😋 No idea what Herbs are actually used, but I reckon Dang Gui probably plays an Important Role. Not Overly Salty or Oily, this Braised Sauce tastes good. 😋

The Centerpiece Chicken Drummy is Huge! 😳 Its a Whole Drummy with a Thigh placed right in the Middle of the Dish. The Meat has a Nice Tender Bite. 😋 It does have a Slightly Elevated Chickeny Taste but luckily Not Too Overpowering. I thought the Meat was also Slightly Dry but still Acceptable.
The Chicken Meat itself doesn't taste Herbal at all, but more Slightly Sweetish. In fact, this Chicken has a Soya Chicken 酱油鸡 sort of taste. 🤔 Not Overly Oily at all. The Herbal Element really only comes from the Braised Zhup that they lum.

Shredding up the Chicken and Eating it with the Porridge and Herbal Zhup together was Satisfying. 😋 The Whole Combo has a Lighly Braised, Lightly Salted Taste and it was the Herbal Braised Zhup that held it all together.
Soul of the Dish is definitely the Herbal Zhup which is doing most of the Heavy Lifting, but the rest of the Components also pulled their weight. 👍 Even the 2 Red Dates they added in this are not just for Presentation. They're Fat and Juicy and occasionally biting into one injected the Dish with a Quick Shot of Fruity Sweetness to help break up any Taste Fatigue. 👍

As I was eating this, I also felt that this Dish had a Very Soft Texture about it. 🤔 I thought this would particularly be suitable for Elderly Folks 👴👵 or people who can only eat Softer Foods. The fact that its Herbal would especially appeal to Elderly more. Whoever designed this Dish certainly knew what they were doing and knew who their Intended Audience is. 👍

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts

At RM5.90 (S$1.90) for this Hainanese Milk Tea, I thought it was a Decent Price for a Decent Quality to pay although I feel there is nothing really particularly special about it. 🤔

Still have no idea what is so Hainanese about this one. 🤔
It is basically just a Standard Ice-Cold Milk Tea. 🥤

At RM9.90 (S$3.10) for the Char Kway, this was more Affordable compared to Uncle Five Coffee that I recently had in KSL which was RM11.90 (S$3.70)
That said, I feel Uncle Five Coffee's Version has a Noticeably Stronger 蛋香味 and much More Eggs used compared to this. 🍳

As long as you don't expect any Wok Hei, both are Decent Tasting in their own way and are worth a Try. 👍 This one slightly loses out because I felt their Sambal was too Weak and didn't contribute anything to the Dish. 🤔

At RM19.90 (S$6.10) for this Herbal Chicken Porridge it may be the Most Expensive Dish I ordered but I definitely liked this the best. 😋
The way this was Presented had alot of Thought that gone behind it and the Dish itself was Tasty. Amount of Chicken given was Acceptable for the Price. 👍

Although the Chicken itself isn't 入味 with Herbal, the Braised Herbal Sauce helped alot.
👍 As I mentioned, this Dish feels like it would particularly appeal to Elderly because of its General Soft Texture and the fact that the Dish itself is Herbal and Nutritious. Definitely worth a Try. 👍

Overall, not a Bad Modern Kopitiam Eatery and the Foods were Decent Tasting. I enjoyed my Dining Experience here and I can definitely recommend this. 😋
Have you eaten from this Eatery here in Aeon Mall Tebrau City? I'd love to know to know how you think of them! 😄
