Whenever I pass by this Restaurant in KSL City Mall, I feel this place is mostly empty all the time. 🤔 Interestingly, on Google Maps, despite having 4.0 Stars out of over 216 Reviews, alot of the Actual Reviews (at least the Recent Ones) completely thrashed and demolished this place to pieces. 😳 But is it really as Bad as Most of the Reviewers claim it to be? 🤔 Read on to find out.
The Restaurant itself is quite a Large Place, Airconditioned and renovated to look like a Higher End Atas Chinese Restaurant 酒楼 Style. This was especially the vibe I got due to the Overall Quietness and the Occasional Cling-Clang Sound of Dishes from the Other Patrons which really contributed to the Chinese 酒楼 Vibe that I felt. 🤔 When I was there at 3.40pm on a Friday Afternoon, there were only 4 Tables Filled.

The Main Entrance Staff is a Young Chinese Chap who is Very Friendly and Welcoming. 😄 There is another Lady however who looked like she's from Myanmmar? The way she acted to the other Staffs here gave me the impression she is the Supervisor of this place, and she always had a Permanent Angry Scowl 臭脸 on her Face. 🫤
She was the one who handled the Cashier Duty when it was time for me to pay, and while she was never Rude to me, she just had a Permanent 臭脸 on her face and I never saw a Single Smile from her. Not a Comfortable Vibe as a Customer for sure. 🫤 One thing to note is that I also feel the Table feels a Tad Higher when I was seated down. 🤔 Not a lot, but Noticeably Higher than Usual. As I browsed thru the Menu, I feel that the Food Prices all seem to be on the Higher Side. 🤔 It took 5 Mins for the Green Tea Cake to be served up, and 7 Mins for the Soup. Everything was up in 7 Mins.
T807 江南绿茶饼 Jiangnan Green Tea Cake = RM12.90
Ordered this because this was one of the More Affordable Item in the Menu and also one of the More Unique Sounding One. When it was served up, there was a Very Nice Baked Sesame Aroma. 😋 There are 4 Pieces and each of them are about the Size of a Standard Marie Biscuit but Thicker. Its a Thin Layer of Yam Paste that is flanked by 2 Layers of Green Flour Pastry which I"m assuming are made out of Green Tea Extract although I don't taste any Green Tea at all. 🤔 Because its Green in Colour, I had also expected there to have a Pandan Taste but No, it doesn't have any Pandan Taste.

The Bite Texture is Very Soft, not Mochi Level of Soft but more like a Very Soft CNY Biscuit Kueh Texture. 😋 The Main Taste Profile is Roasted Sesame which is Very Prominent. This is followed closely by the Yam Paste which while not Very Yammy, contributes more towards the Gritty Yam Mouth Texture. 😋 You only really taste the Yam Taste when it occasionally shoots thru when you are eating it.

The Whole Thing tastes like a Kueh that you'd eat for CNY. 👲 Sweetness is Very Delicate and Not Overly Sweet. I have never been to China myself so I'm not sure if the version here tastes Authentic. 🤔 But it certainly does taste and feel like it though. 😅
D701 小仙女养颜益气汤 Angel Beauty Soup = RM38.00
I ordered this simply because of its Rediculous Adorable Name! ♥️ 小仙女 translates to "Little Fairy". 🧚 This is supposedly a Type of Collagen Soup meant more for Ladies although of course anyone can drink this too. It came in a Huge Bowl and yes I actually measured the Actual Amount of Soup Given. 😅
If we make use of the Small Bowl and Metal Ladle that was provided, that means:
1 Small Bowl = 7 Metal Ladle of Soup
Entire Big Bowl = 3.5 Small Bowls of Soup
Although a Big Bowl of Soup, I am quite disappointed that there doesn't seem to be much Liao or Meat within. 🫤 Brownish in Colour, the Soup is not just a Simple Chicken Soup. It is 清甜 Savoury with a Noticeable Herbal Undertone. I also feel that Lotus Roots played a Very Big Part in the Soup Base although I didn't see any in the Soup. 🤔

Not Oily, Not Overly Salty, but also Not Very Atas Restoran Quality, type of Taste, I'd say this is like a Slightly Elevated Level of Chicken Soup. 🤔 At least its not something that seems to be easily replicated at Home although I wouldn't say this is a Very Complex Level of Soup either. The Amount of Chicken Meat felt Extremely Stingy though as you can see from my Photo. 🫤 Compared to their Advertised Photo on the Menu which looked like at least Half a Chicken, I don't think there's even enough here for even 1 Chicken Drummy. 我看连小仙女都吃不饱. 😅

Luckily the Meat was Not Dry and are actually Soaked Quite Well in the Soup. 👍 Acceptably Tender and doesn't taste Overly Chickeny. I only wished there were more Chicken Pieces instead of the Amount that was Given. 🫤 If it was a Whole Drummy with a Attached Thigh, this would have been alot better. Other than Chicken, there are a Couple of Herbs, including a Cut Head of a Ginseng but not a Full One.

Despite that, this Ginseng tasted Slightly Better Quality than the Cheaper sort of China 长白山 sort of Ginseng. 👍 Quite a Chonky Piece too, biting into it was Soft and Not Overly Ginsengy. There were other Herbs as you can see, no idea what they're called but they're alright. What I did like is that they are quite Generous with Goji Berries as there are noticeably quite alot of them. 👍

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts
At RM12.90 (S$3.90) for the Jiangnan Green Tea Biscuits, that makes them about S$1.00 per Biscuit which although not Very Cheap, was still a Reasonable Price for the Quality. 👍 They do have a Atas Look and Presentation and a Delicate Light Taste. 😋
Not Overly Sweet, I reckon they would work perfectly with a Brew of Chinese Tea. 🫖 They taste exactly how I'd imagine a China Styled 茶点 Pastry would taste like. 😅 Now I don't know how this compares to the Original Version from China, but I find this an Acceptable Taste for a Tea Snack.
At RM38.00 (S$11.60) for this Angel Beauty Soup is not worth the Money. 👎 Now I have no issues with the Soup Quality as while its not Super Complex, still has some Quality because of its Noticeable Herbal Undertone.
What I feel isn't worth is the Distinct Lack of Meat and Ingredients within. 🫤 The Amount of Meat given frankly just felt Stingy for the Price. 🫤 I feel this lack of meat at this Price Point hurt the Dish for me. Its also False Advertising as the Amount of Meat in the Actual Dish is nowhere even close to the Amount of Meat shown in their Menu. 👎
Overall, this place is not as Trash as some Google Reviewers claim it to be, but I do agree with those that say the prices in this Restaurant feel like on the Higher Side and the Quality and Amount of the Food don't really match the Price they're asking. 🤔 Personally, I cannot recommend this one to anyone due to the Stinginess of Meat given. If you are ok with the prices I posted of their Menu, I would recommend that you come to this place yourself to give them a try and decide for yourself.
What I do hope for that Myanmmar Lady Staff to at least Smile a little. 🤔 As a Customer Facing Staff, whole day give a 死人臭脸 isn't a Good Look you want to portray to Customers. 🫤 I wished she behaved more like that Young Chinese Chap at the Entrance who was so much more Friendlier and Welcoming. Have you eaten from this Eatery here in KSL City Mall? I would love to know how you think of them!
