Got to know of this Restaurant thru JohorKaki. Apparently, this is one of JB's Oldest Indian Restaurant 🇮🇳 serving Traditional Kerela Dishes on Banana Leaves since 1949.
For a Restaurant with such a Old Legacy, it sure was unusual to see it located in this Somewhat Relatively Unknown and Ulu Wadi Hana Area which isn't really a Famous F&B Location that most Singaporeans will visit. 🤔

When I was there on a Monday Afternoon, this place was Still Quite Packed with Customers! 😳 From what I see, they looked like Local JB Office Folks having their Lunch. 🍽️
The Place is Air-Conditioned although it still felt abit Warmish. There is an Ever Present Delicious Fried Aroma in the Air. 😋

As soon as I stepped in, I was warmly greeted by the Staffs. 😄 They are really Friendly and Welcoming which automatically gave me a Very Good Impression. 👍 Very Nice 1st Customer Entry Experience for sure.
That said, they aren't Very Conversant in English and can only speak in Malay. So Conversation is definitely going to be Challenging. 🤔 And because I don't usually regularly eat Indian-Styled Banana Leaf Rice, I'm not familiar with what are the Ingredients to order and it actually was quite challenging to order. 😅 I eventually managed to do it thru actually using a Combination of using Google Translate and also pointing to the Photos on JohorKaki's Food Blog itself! 📷

WIFI is available, though you do have to ask for it.
It took 2 Mins for the Teh Halia Kosong to be served up, 4 Mins for the Rice and Gravy, 5 Mins for the Curry Chicken and Curry Fish, and 10 Mins for the Fried Fish Cutlet. Everything was up in 10 Mins which was not a Bad Timing considering the Amount of Customers at that time. 👍

How the Dishes are Served:

If you have never eaten an Indian Banana Leaf Styled Meal, you will first have a Large Banana Leaf Set Up on your Table.
Now depending on the Set that you ordered, a Staff will bring over a Bowl of Rice 🍚 and scoop an amount for you right on the Rice together with 3 Different Veggies Scoop (I will describe each of them later in the Review)

Next up, another Staff will bring over 3 Different Pots of Curry (🐔 Chicken, 🐑 Mutton, 🐟 Fish) and will ask if you would like any of the Curries to be lum all over your Rice just like Penang Nasi Kandar Style.

Go ahead and lum if you want, this is Free of Charge. If you want them to Lum Everything, just tell them "Kuah Campur Banjir" 😋
Once done, again depending on what you ordered, the Staff will bring over the Dishes you ordered. For my case, it was a Curry Chicken + Curry Fish + Fried Fish Cutlet. I will of course describe each of them in detail.

☕ Tea-C-Halia Kosong = RM5.00

I thought this tasted Nice and Creamy although I feel the Ginger Heat Taste is Considerably Mild compared to others I've drank in the Past. 🤔

🍛 Nasi Ikan Curry 3 Vege Set Meal = RM22.00

This Set consists of a Scoop of White Rice + 3 Assorted Veggies + 1 Curry Fish

🍚 Nasi Putih + the 3 Curries

Nothing really special about the Rice, its just standard Jasmine White Rice. Standard Look, Standard Texture, Standard Taste.
Mixing the 3 Curries into this tasted So Good! 😋 The Curries themselves taste like how you'd expect them to taste and are  Very Decent. 🍛 I thought Mutton Curry dominated more with its Delicious Meaty Taste more. If you enjoy eating Curries, then you will most likely find these to be Acceptable Tasting too. They were Delicious. 👍

I even thought the Papadam Cracker they used here is of a Higher Quality.
It has a Slightly Thicker Texture compared to others I've eaten. 😋

That translates to an Amazing Crunch.
The Whole Papadam has a Nice Delicious 油香味 to it.

The 3 Assorted Veggies Scoops

(Sorry I have no idea what they are actually called so I'll describe them as I see them)

White Cabbage Veggie Scoop

This was Nicely Salted with a Prominent Noticeable Taste of Bellpepper. 🫑 Served at Room Temp it had a Decent Savoury Taste with a Slightly Soft but still abit Firmish Veggie Crunch. Not Bad Tasting.

Long Bean Veggie Scoop

Cut into Small Pieces, this also tasted Decent. I thought that the Taste of the Long Bean tasted a Tad Strong. 🫛 Nicely Salted and Savoury with a Mild Spiciness. Again, Not Bad Tasting.

Yellow Mashed Pumpkin Veggie Scoop

I think this is made out of Mashed Pumpkins. 🎃 It has a Very Familiar Indian-Styled Taste to it using both Fennel Seeds. This was served abit Warm and the Pumpkin had a Slight Stringy Fibrous Bite Texture. Not Bad Tasting.

🐟 The Curry Fish

This is the Main Protein when you order the Nasi Ikan Curry 3 Vege Set Meal.
No Idea what sort of Fish is this. But it had a Very Very Soft Bite Texture that yields Very Easily to your Bite. Not at all Fishy, this was Very Melt in the Mouth. 😋 The Fish Curry that is Lum over this tasted Very Creamy and Not 重口味. Spiciness is Mild and won't Bite your Tongue. Very Delicious when eaten with Rice like this. 😋

🐔 Ayam Curry Sepiring = RM8.00

This was a Piece of Thigh, not a Very Big Piece. 🍗 Meat was Soft and Tender and has a Strong Indian-Styled Taste of Fennel and Mustard Seeds. Curry has a Nice Creamy Texture and Spiciness is Mild. Delcious.

🐟 Fish / Ikan Cutlet = RM5.00

This was one of the Side Dish that was Highly Recommended by JohorKaki. The other is a Fried Mackeral Fish which was unfortunately not available that day.
The Appearance looks like a Big Fat Bergedil. Freshly Fried, the Outer Skin has a Soft Crispy 脆脆 Bite Texture. 👍  The Inner Filling is Very Hot and Soft and seems to be a Mix of what tasted like Fish, Potatos and a Couple of Veggies. 😋

Despite Potato being used, the Potato Taste is not Prominent, Neither does this taste Fishy. Imagine a Potatoey Texture but doesn't taste Potatoey. 🤔 I thought the Ratio of Fish and Potato were mixed just right with neither trying to fight for attention. Taste is Savoury and Salty but not Overly Salty. 😋
Do take note when eating this because I found some Small Fish Bones within. 🦴  But the Presence of these Bones tells me that this is Definitely Handmade and is not some Pre-Made Factory Product. 👍 This taste pretty good.

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts

RM5.00 (S$1.60) for the Teh-Halia Kosong, this wasn't the Best I've drank and I thought the Ginger Taste is a Tad too Mild. 🫚🤔 I wouldn't recommend this if you prefer a More Gao Gao Gingery Taste for your Teh Halia.

RM22.00 (S$6.70) for the Nasi Ikan Curry Set I feel is worth it because you're getting a Piece of Curry Fish here. 🐟 And Curry Fish itself is No Slouch as I simply loved its Super Soft Texture that didn't have any 鱼腥味 Fishiness. Banjiring the 3 Curry Sauces to eat together with Rice was Delicious! 😋

RM8.00 (S$2.50) for this Chicken Curry Thigh I feel not really worth because I thought it was a Tad Small. 🤔 It does taste Decent though. If you don't mind the price, sure go ahead and add it. If not, I feel its also ok to skip this if you want to make your meal cheaper. 🤔

RM5.00 (S$1.60) for that Fried Fish Cutlet is definitely worth the Money. 👍 The Amount of Fish used in this seems quite Substantial and it does taste very good especially eaten with Rice. 😋🍚 This one is worth to add as a Side Dish. Its Affordable and adds alot to the Dish.

At a Total Combined Price of RM40.00 (S$12.00) may look expensive at first glance, but if you were to shave off both the Teh Halia and Curry Chicken, this will bring the Meal down to RM27.00 (S$8.20) which I feel is definitely worth the Money to pay to get 2 Fish Items with your Meal. 👍
Why did this Place get my Highest Score?

It was how Friendly and Patient the Staffs were and how Welcome they made me feel here. 👍
Remember I mentioned earlier that Language was a Barrier here? 🤔 Despite how Awkward and Challenging it was for me to try use Google Translate to convey what I was trying to say, when trying to order my Food, I am most appreciative that at No Point did they acted Annoyed or Frustrated with me. 😄

In fact the Serving Lady was so Patient and Accomodating and I felt she really went out of her way to make me feel at ease here. ❤️ Hahaha, I was the one who felt abit panicky because it was a Lunch Hour, and I was worried I was wasting their time trying to help me when they could have helped others. 😅

They could have easily gotten frustrated with me for how long I took during the Ordering Process but there was not a Single Shred of Frustration I felt from them. ❤️ All I could feel from them was that they were Really Genuine in assisting as best as they could and they valued me as a Customer. ❤️
My Entire Dining Experience here felt Completely Elevated and I actually felt Happy Eating here. 😄

JohorKaki was Completely On The Mark for this Place. The Food indeed was Really Delicious and the Patient and Friendly Staffs took it over the top for me. 👍 This Place Easily Earns my Top Score. Highly Recommended! 👍
