This was a Small Kopitiam I discovered as I was walking around and Exploring Taman Perling. 🚶 Its located Very Near within Walking Distance to Perling Mall in Taman Perling. Really Quiet Little Place hidden in a Side Street run by a Very Friendly Young Chinese Couple. 😄
Other than Chicken Rice, 🐔 they also sell Wanton Mee and Economy Rice other than Chicken Rice as you can see in the Photos. 📷 There were a few Customers within on a Thursday Afternoon at around 1.30pm.

Of course the thing that intrigued me most was its RM5.00 Chicken Rice I saw on its banner. 🐔 I am impressed that the Amount of Rice and Meat given is Actually Very Reasonable and Not Stingy and even comes with a Bowl of Soup. 👍 Amount given is so reasonable, that it is actually 吃得饱 type. 🍚 You can take a look at the Photos i've taken to get an idea of what I mean. 📷
This doesnt taste like Conventional Chicken Rice Chilli that we're used to in Singapore. 🤔 It tastes more like Squeezed Lemon/Lime Juice with bits of Chilli Pieces. 🌶️
Not Spicy and is more Intensely Sourish due to the Lemon/Lime. 🍋 This is the First Time I've encountered such a Chilli for Chicken Rice. 🤔 I neither hate it nor love it. Its just Very Different. But I thought you should know this if Chilli is Very Important Component in a Chicken Rice for you. 🌶️
The Soup
Despite its RM5.00 price, the Soup surprisingly does not taste plain or watered down at all. 👍 It has a Noticeably Chickeny Taste with a Slight Bit of MSG/Chicken Flavouring but not much. Not Amazing but a Very Acceptable Chicken Soup for RM5.00 tbh.
The Rice
Has a Golden Yellow Hue with a Noticeable Taste of Pandan Leaves with a Nice 油香味 Fragrance. 😋 Texture of the Rice is towards Niam Niam but not in a Bad Way. Amount of Rice provided is Very Acceptable and Filling for RM5.00. There are even 3 Thick-Cut Pieces of Cucumbers given. 👍
Chicken Breast Meat
With roughly 8 Small Pieces of Chicken Breast Meat, they are actually Tender, Tasty and Flavourful 🍗 with a Very Acceptable Slight Saltiness and Savoury Flavor. 👍 I would even go so far to say this is on par with SG Kopitiam level. Again Very Acceptable Portions and Quality for RM5.00.

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts
Times are Hard. 🥲 Nowadays, it can be challenging to find a RM8.00 Plate of Chicken Rice in Johor Bahru, let alone a RM5.00 one. 🤔 For the price of RM5.00, I had originally thought that they would use all sorts of methods to save and scrimp to cut cost, but this is absolutely not the case here. 👍
At RM5.00 (S$1.60) for this level of Chicken Rice is More than Acceptable for the price. 👍 Portion given is Very Generous and like I mentioned, is actually Filling and 吃得饱 type. I'm even surprised they even bothered to give a Bowl of Soup. 🥣 That said, this is Not Some Michelin-Star High End Dedicated Chicken Rice Restoran, but is a Very Small and Humble Kopitiam. 🤔 So do not come here and expect a Super High End Atas Chicken Rice Restoran Experience. 😅
I would compare this probably to MRT Kiosk type of Chicken Rice Quality. 🤔 Not Super Amazing, but Acceptable, Decent Tasting and Filling. The only thing I disagree with is their Very Bold Choice of using a Lemon Juice Based Chilli Sauce instead of Conventional type used for Chicken Rice. 🌶️🤔
I don't know if this RM5.00 Chicken Rice is a Limited Time Promo, but based on the only 1 Review on Google Maps for this place, this RM5.00 price has been around for at least 4 Months already. 🤔 It is Extremely Rare to find such an Affordable Chicken Rice at such a Decent Quality in JB. Especially for people staying or working near Taman Perling, why not give this place a try and support this Hardworking Friendly Young Couple? ♥️
