I previously featured the Very Famous and Very Storied History of JB 木清肉骨茶 Bak Cheng Bak Kut Teh which was crowned  "Malaysia's King of BKT" back in 2006. 👑🇲🇾 Today's Review is one of their Branch in Taman Sentosa called "Restoran Crystal". According to Johorkaki's Article about this Place, this Particular Branch is managed by Bak Cheng's Daughter-In-Law Crystal. 🤔 Interestingly, the Eatery itself is No Longer called "Crystal" on their Main Signboard. Hmm. 🤔

This Place is a Large Non-Airconditioned Old Kopitiam and again despite how Famous this Franchise is, there aren't many Customers at around 9.30am on a Weekday Morning. 🌞🤔 Just like their Taman Mount Austin Branch, this place felt kinda 冷清清. 🤔 Staffed by an Elder Lady with a Couple of Myanmar Staffs, they're Polite and mostly keep to themselves. 👍 They do try to upsell more DLC Ingredients when you order, 🤔 but at least I didn't see any 死人脸 when I did not order any.

I'm quite surprised that even though this Eatery is supposedly under the Same Bak Cheng Franchise as the one in Taman Mount Austin, they have a Completely Different Menu. 📜🤔Anyway, it took about 2 Mins for the Dish to be served up.

🐷🍲 Bak Kut = RM18.00

The Dish is a Very Small Bowl with just 4 Cuts of Pork Ribs compared to the Basic Mixed BKT that I had in their Taman Mount Austin Branch. 🐷🤔

🍲 Quality of the Soup Broth

Braised 卤水 type, its Slightly Salty with a Very Subtle and Light Herbal Presence that only came as a Herbly Sweetness in its Aftertaste. 🌿🤔 It was interesting because I thought the Herbly Presence slowly intensified the more I drank the Soup. 🍲🤔

Pork Ribs were Meaty and Fatty, Noticeably Soft and Tender and slide easily off the Bone. 🐷🍖 Overall nothing really special about this Ribs although I do like that its more Fatty comparted to others I've eaten. 😋 And that's it. I have nothing more to say about this BKT. 🐷😅

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts

At the Price of RM18.00 (S$5.60) for this isn't Cheap for a 4 Rib Pieces BKT, and I'm surprised actually cost slightly more than the Mixed Version 😳 I had for their Taman Mount Austin Branch which had more varieties of items that cost lesser at RM16.00 (S$4.90) 💵🤔

Despite how Highly Proclaimed and Famous it was, "Malaysia King of BKT" 👑🇲🇾 in 2006 no less, again I thought this tasted just like any other Regular Braised, Slightly Herbal BKT out there. 🤔 I don't feel it is worth to specifically come to JB just to eat this. What is abit Strange is how its Main Signboard no longer shows "Restoran Crystal". 🤔 I wonder if they have already sold off this Branch and its no longer managed by the Daughter-In-Law hence the Change in Name? 🤔

The Noticeably Different Menu also strongly points to this being the case. 📜🤔 I couldn't get any information from the Staffs here though, they didn't seem to want to say much when I asked. 🤔
