It was Very Rainy when I explored KL that day 🌧️ so naturally I wanted something Hot and Soupy in my Belly. 😅 So you can imagine my Delight when I randomly came across this during my KL Exploration. 😄 The Whole Place looks so Very Old-School! ♥️ Really Old Place, its not even located in a Building and the Roofs here were just pieces of Zinc Tile Plates. 🤔
Once upon a Time, Singapore also used to have such Very Old School 古色古香 type of Makeshift Eating Places but of course they have all since been Eradicated. 😔 It was a Real Treat to be able to still see such Places here in KL. ♥️
Even though it was Raining, 🌧️ there were alot of Local Customers on a Sunday Evening. 👍 Really feels like a Classic 老字号 Place that has been around for Many Years already. And I was correct because as I checked with the Friendly Staffs, this Place has been around for 40 Years at least. 🤔 Impressive.
As I checked further, apparently this Place used to sell Exotic Meats too in the Past such as 🐿️ Squirrel, 🦎 Monitor Lizard but these are sadly no longer available. 😅 The Most Exotic Item here is Pigeon Soup. 🐦⬛ The Staffs are Very Friendly, Polite and mostly kept to themselves. 👍 Very Easy Ordering System, just grab a Seat, ask for a Menu and order directly from them. Both Dishes were served up together in 2 Mins.

🥥🐔 Coconut Chicken Chinese Herbal Soup = RM15.00
This is their Main Signature Dish that I observed many other Customers ordered. 🤔 It is adorably presented in a Coconut Shell 🥥 which is actually not that unusual tbh, but it still looks Very Adorable Presentation wise. 😄 Although served in a Coconut Shell, the Coconut Flesh is not Scrappable as I've tried. 🥥🤔 This Coconut is not those Sweet Type. I reckon its used more for its Coconut Juice to boil into Soup and of course for a More Unique Presentation. 🤔
Wow... this Soup.... OMG. 🤯 Its so Heavily Infused with Herbs Gao Gao! 🌿 Hahaha my knowledge of Chinese Herbs is poor so I can only describe this as a "Super Powered Version of a Angelica Dang Gui Chicken Soup" 🌿🍲🤯 Hahaha you can see in the Dissected Picture how much Herbs they give. 🌿 Heck there are More Herbs in this compared to Actual Chicken! 😳This Soup is so Herbly, its not even like Light Light type of Herbal but actually tastes Slightly Bitter. 😜 Actually I can't even call this Herbal already. Perhaps "Medicinal" is a better word to describe this. 🌿😅 This is like another Higher Level of Herbal already. Solid.

No Idea what the White Herb within is called but its a Familiar Chinese Herb used in Soups like this. 🌿🤔 Texture is like Very Fibrous Tapioca, it has a 苦甜苦甜 sort of Herbliness to it. 🌿🤔 There are also a Bunch of other Herbs within, some tasting what I would describe as a "Tongue Tingling sort of Bitterness" to them. 😜
The Amount of Chicken looks like 1 Small Breast Piece and because it is so Deeply Infused in that Herbal (Medicinal) Broth, the Entire Taste Profile is Completely Herbal. 🌿🐔 Tender to the Bite, it breaks apart quite easily. There is still abit of Dryness you'd expect from a Chicken Breast but it doesn't detract too much. 👍

🐦⬛ Pigeon Chinese Herbal Soup = RM10.00
Served in a Small, Slightly Cracked Porcelain Bowl that has obviously seen alot of use, 😅 there is a Full Pigeon in this although it is a Very Baby Small One. 🐦⬛ The Soup in this tasted like it has a Similar Base as their Signature Coconut one, 🤔 but because there are Lesser Herbs used, it is a Tad Lighter and actually Not as Medicinally "Bitter". 🌿🤔 I would even describe this Soup here as a More Dainty Version of their Coconut Signature. 👍

I've eaten Roasted Pigeon in Hong Kong and I can confirm that Pigeon actually taste like Duck Meat. 🐦⬛🦆 This one though interestingly doesn't taste like Duck Meat at all. 🤔 Actually I wonder if this is actually Quail and Not Pigeon because I've also cooked Quail before and this really tasted more like a Quail. 🤔 It has a Very Neutral Poultry Taste that's almost similar to Chicken. Try to imagine eating a Very Very Small Stewed Herbal Micro Chicken and this is what it tastes like. 🤔

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts
At the Price of RM15.00 (S$4.60) for their Signature Coconut Chicken Soup 🥥🐔 is absolutely worth the money because of how Gao Gao Herbal this tasted. 🌿👍 Actually like I mentioned, Medicinal is probably a Better Word to describe this than Herbal. 🌿😅
This is not like those Herbly Sweet type of Soup, but actually has a Complex Herbly Bitterness to it. 🌿😜 If you are someone who is more used to Lighter Tasting Type of Herbal Soups, you might find this one a Tad Strong. 😅 The Amount of Herbs and the Amount of Time to infuse this is No Joke. 😳 This is so Gao Gao Medicinal that the Chicken within almost feels like a Secondary Afterthought. 🐔😅 Drinking this actually feels like it will be Beneficial to your Health. 👍
At the Price of RM10.00 (S$3.10) for the 🐦⬛ Pigeon Soup is also worth the Money because they do give you a Whole Bird in this albeit a Very Small Baby One. 🐦⬛😅 The Soup is Not as Gao Gao Herbly and falls more in line to the Classic Type of Herbliness that most people can accept. 🌿👍
Having said that, I'm not sure if this is really a Pigeon because I've tasted Pigeon before and this tasted more like a Quail than a Pigeon. 🐦⬛🤔 Maybe its a Different Type of Pigeon? The Price of RM10.00 they are asking for was also a factor in me suspecting that this is a Quail rather than Pigeon 🤔 because Pigeon is considered more of an Exotic Meat in Malaysia 🇲🇾 which by right should command a Higher Price. 🤔 Not that I'm complaining though, whether its Pigeon or Quail, this is still a Very Reasonable Price for what it is. 👍
Overall I have no issues with this Place. 👍 The Location itself is so Rustic, it reminds me Very Fondly of Makeshift Eateries we used to have in Singapore in the Past. 🇸🇬 Prices of the Dishes are Reasonable, especially their Signature Dish which is so Unbelievably Herbal, its More Medicinal than Herbal already. 🌿😅 Really 真材实料. The Staffs are Very Friendly and Welcoming and add to it I even came here just nice on a Cold Rainy Day 🌧️ so hahaha it almost seems like I was fated to come here even. 😄If you are looking for a Good Tasting and Affordable Herbal Soups, 🌿🍲 and want to see how Very Old-School Eateries used to look like in Singapore in the Past, I can definitely recommend this place to give it a try. 👍
