A Quick History of this Restaurant:

This Particular Restaurant had a Very Rich History. So according to some research i've done, this was built in 1938. Before 1982, it served as a Hotel and provided Accomodation to many Famous HK Movie Stars. 🇭🇰📽️ Apparently even Bruce Lee himself danced Cha-Cha here! 🕺😳 The Land that it stood on was a Huge Stretch consisting of a Villa, 🏠 a Restaurant and Hotel.

Here is a Nice Little Documentary about the Place from South China Morning Post.

As the Hong Kong Government needed to develop Sha Tin, and also due to some Regulatory Issues, part of this Land was forced to be dismantled and sold back to the Government until only the Restaurant is Left. 🤔 They no longer run the Hotel Business but still retain its old name "Lung Wah Hotel". For many Hong Kongers, this place is considered a Nostalgic Part of History for them. 🇭🇰😌

Lung Wah Hotel Today:

The Place is not that easy to access and can be a little bit off the Beaten Path, 🛣️🤔 but if you navigate using Google Maps, you should not have any issues. 🌏👍 The Most Prominent Feature is a Very Long Ancient Chinese Decorated Pathway up to the Actual Restaurant. 😳 Almost like going towards an Ancient Chinese Palace. 😅

The Actual Restaurant itself is a Very Big Place as you can see in my Attached Video. 🎥 It looks so Lavish and Grandiose that I can't imagine how Grand it was during its Golden Age in the 1960s-1970s. 🎉

Its so Lavish that it even has a Mini Zoo with Parrots, 🦜 Peacocks 🦚 and even the Entrance to their Restroom looks like some Palace Garden in some Chinese Period Drama! 😳

Inside the Main Dining Hall, you can see Photos of Many HK Celebrities visiting the Place 🇭🇰📽️ and the Whole Place has a Very Classic 1960s type of Feel to it. Dining in here felt like I travelled back in time! ⏳😅

The Staffs are very Friendly and Welcoming 😄 and because I spoke Cantonese with them, they felt even more Warm and Friendly, almost like chit chatting with an Elder Aunt like that. 💁😄 I loved talking to them and finding out more about the History of this Place. 🇭🇰❤️

There are 3 Dishes here which are apparently so famous, they're collectively known as:
"The Three Treasures of Sha Tin" 沙田三寶
🏆🏆🏆

🐦 龍華脆皮燒乳鴿 Deep Fried Crisp and Juicy Pigeon "Lung Wah" Style = HKD98.00

So apparently from some Sources, THIS was supposedly the 1st Restaurant that first invented Roasted Pigeons! 🐦😳
I specifically requested them not to cut it into pieces like I did previously in V&B Cuisine and the Staff said actually there are Customers who also do not request to cut because the Juice of the Roasted Pigeon would still be retained within. 🐦😋 And she was right. The moment I tore into the Dish, the Beautiful Juices flowed out immediately and it was so Delicious OMG! 🐦❤️

Compared to VnB Cuisine, the Skin for this Pigeon has a More Lovely Roasted Taste 🔥😋 and its not Super Crispy but leans more towards Roast Duck sort of Skin. 🦆🤔 After tasting Pigeon a 2nd time, I can confirm that Pigeon does indeed have a taste profile that is Very Similar to Eating Duck Meat. 🦆🐦🤔

In addition, the Friendly Staff also recommended that other than Salt and Pepper, 🧂she also provided me with a Special Sauce that is specifically used to eat with Pigeon. Its a Sauce called "喼汁" as you can see here. 🍯🤔

It's hard to describe this 喼汁 Sauce Condiment. 🍯🤔 Its as Perky Sharp as a Vinegar that will bite your tongue softly, but its Not Overly Vinegary. 😛 It also has a Hint of Sweetness that is not Overly Sweet and also Not Salty. 😋 It almost tastes like a Mandarin Orange Extract but also not quite. 🍊🤔

This was a Very Nice Tangy Sauce that indeed paired very Well with Pigeon and helped cut down the Greasiness and make it less Jelak to eat. 🐦😋 I don't think I've ever seen this in Singapore before. It'll pair very well with Roasted Meats in general I reckon. 👍

🍲 馳名沙田滑鸡粥 Chicken Congee Sha Tin Lung Wah Style (2-3 Person) = HKD98.00

This was a Super Big Pot meant for 2-3 People. 🍲 Doesn't taste Overly Chickeny at all but does have a Noticeable Presence of Chicken Oil that teases you. 🐔😋

Consistency of the Congee itself is Soft and Smooth like Ber and the only thing I could think of is how Elegant it tasted.
🍲😋 For some reason, I also detected a Very Faint Taste of Ginseng Tails within. And I counted about 8 Small Bowls in total for it. 🥣

Within it are also 6 Thick Cut Pieces of Thigh and Breast Meats and they are Super Flavourful and Not Dry. 🐔😋 Completely Smooth and Tender.

There are also some Cabbage Slices 🥬 which I reckon is to add a Slight Veggie Crunch to offset the Softness of Everything in this Bowl. 🥬😋 This is a Very Atas Tasting Restaurant Standard Bowl of Chicken Congee. 🍲😋

🍮 原味手造豆腐花 Silk Tofu Flower (1 Person Bowl) = HKD28.00

This is of course a Dessert and while its Very Soft and Served Cold, I feel its not as Soft as the other Taufufa that I've eaten in Hong Kong. 🍮🤔 Consistency is Very Close to Singapore Tau Huay. 🤔

Whats Unique about this dish however, is a Small Bowl of Sugar Syrup that has pieces of 桂花 Osmanthus Flower Petals within. 🌼 So Elegant! 😅 It really gave it a Distinct Floral Taste and adding this Syrup into the Taufufa really made it into a Very Elegant Tasting Floral Dessert. 🌼🍮 Delightful!

Personally I feel there is a Certain Order to tasting these 3 dishes. 🤔 You can give this method a go if you wish:

1) Eat 1 or 2 Tbsps of Taufufa with 桂花 Sugar Syrup first. 🍮🥄
This is to let you taste the Elegant Taste of the 桂花. 🌼😋

2) Next, Eat the Chicken Congee and enjoy it's taste. 🍲😋

3) Only then do you start with the Roasted Pigeon. 🐦🤔 Don't try to start with Pigeon first because I feel it may be Too Meaty of a Taste 🍖🤔 and may Overpower the Delicate Taste of the 桂花 Taufufa or the Lighter tasting Congee. 🌼🍲

4) At the End of the Meal, finish off with the rest of the 桂花 Taufufa for a Sweet Finish. 🌼🍮

------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion and Closing Thoughts.

HKD261.00 (S$46.00) for Everything I've Eaten here is Absolutely Worth the Money for such High Quality Restaurant Standard Food.

Some Google Reviewers feel that the Food served here are Overated, 🤔 but for me as a First Timer here, I thought they were all made at a Very High Quality. 👍 I could taste that they used Premium Ingredients here at least. 👍

Eating at this place, you could really get a sense of how Hong Kong used to feel like in the 1960s-1970s. 🇭🇰❤️ The Place itself just oozes History and being able to taste such Exquisite Dishes in a Historical 86 years old Restaurant where HK Movie Stars once visited in the past was certainly a Rare Privilege! 🇭🇰😄

I also appreciated very much that the Staffs were so Friendly and made me feel very Welcome. It was truly an Exceptional Dining Experience. 😄 If you are ever here in Sha Tin 沙田, I Highly Recommend visiting this place! 😄
