According to the very friendly staffs here, this Bakery has been around for at least 42 years. 🤔 Almost as old as me. 😅 Truly a 老字号. As you step inside, you can also sort of feel the age of the place. 

For a 42 years old Bakery, I'm quite surprised its actually a very Small Bakery and they only have 1 Cabinet Shelf of Buns. 🤔 This means they don't sell alot of varieties, but they are specialized on the Buns they do sell. They also have quite a unique system here. Instead of the usual "Take a Tray and Self Service", you only need to point to what you want, and they'll take for you.👍 The Reason why i'm here is really for a Bread that is Unique to Sarawak: Butter Bun.

The First thing I noticed is that the Butter Bun here are Very Big and Heavy. 🥐🤔 It has a very Beautiful Crackling Crumbly Sweet Outer Crust. The interesting part is the filling, which is filled with what looks like Crumbly Butter Flour? 🧈🤔

I'll be honest, I have seen such similar buns in most Bakeries in Singapore before but I don't recall ours being as heavy as the one I had here. 🥐🤔 This really is a noticeably heavy bun. The whole bun is very filling. Its also not that sweet. It was a pity the buns weren't freshly hot off the oven, otherwise I think the Crumbly Butter Flour bits would probably be more fluid and taste more like the Rotiboy (JB Sentral) I had previously in JB. 🧈🤔

I feel I have tasted Butter Bun before in other Bakeries, only I did not know that it actually had a Proper Name for it. 🥐😅 Price feels reasonable as it really was a heavy and filling bun. I wouldn't say this is a Must Try when you're in Kuching. You will probably have tasted a similar bun elsewhere.

MILO Bun = RM3.00

MILO Bun is also as big as Butter Bun but is very much noticeably lighter in weight. The chocolate cream really is MILO and has a gritty sugary taste. 😋

Filling is very generous if you like Chocolate Buns. Having said that, this is a more common bun that is available in most Bakeries too.


For me, it feels quite special to visit a 42 Years Old 老字号 Bakery. I can imagine the years of experience and skill from this place. Kudos to the very Friendly Staffs in this Bakery. 👍 They were very accomodating when I wanted to take photos of the place, 📷 and even took out a fresh new tray of Buns for me to photograph. 😄
