Gongpia 光饼 is a Foo Chow Snack. Kuching really does have alot of Foo Chow foods. 👍 This Food Stall here has been highly recommended in many Food Blogs for this and when I mentioned this stall to Kuchingites, all of them also seem to know this place. Its one of the Many Food Stalls located in this Song Kheng Hai Hawker Centre. That said I was informed this is not considered Original Gongpia. 🤔

Gongpia according to folks is actually Plain with no fillings, although most of them do like the versions sold here. 👍 Its a very small pastry thats considered more as a Snack. 😋 To me, Gongpia actually taste like Hum Jin Peng. It really tastes like it. That Unmistakable Sweet Salty Dough Taste. In fact I feel its like a Mini Hum Jin Peng. 😋

Rihga's Original Gongpia uses Char Siew Bao Pork Filings and OMG it is such a Good Combo for this! 🍖😋 The Sweet, Savoury and Sticky Soft and Tender Pork Filling given is Generous and is a Perfect Match for this. 👍 This is an incredibly smart way to make an already Savoury Hum Jin Peng tasting Pastry even more savoury! Delicious! 😋 Heck I feel Hum Jin Pengs should all add this as a Filling instead of just Plain version! 😅

Ham and Cheese is also a Good Pair. 🐷🧀 The Taste of the Cheese and the Saltiness of the Ham makes this another Winning Combo. 👍 Not as Savoury as using Char Siew Pork Fillings but still as Good. 😋


The Stall Owners here looks like a Young Couple and the Very Friendly Chap himself say he started working here since Age 13 and it has since been 18 years already. 👍 Must have been a Family Business. I wished I asked him why the stall is called "Rihga" though. It sounds very unique. 😄 The Gongpia sold here lives up to its Reputation. 👍 Very Delicious Snack and very Friendly Stall Owners. I can highly recommend anyone to come here to give it a try. 😋
