Century Egg Belacan Beehoon = RM9.00

Belacan Beehoon is a Unique Dish thats found only in Kuching and East Malaysia and this Food Stall in Song Kheng Hai Hawker Centre is quite Famous for it apparently. The First Thing I noticed is how Pungent the Cuttlefish Smell DOMINATES the dish. Everything from the Smell, to the Broth, Cuttlefish is the Overpowering Main Force.

Sauces provided is a Sourish Sambal and a Sweet Sauce which I think is also used in Rojak that this stall also sells. Mixing these Sauces together still don't cover the Overly Strong Cuttlefish Taste. Kudos to the Owner here. He's a very Friendly Chap and asked if I wanted more Sauce.
Personally for me though, this Whole Dish has simply Too Strong of a Seafoody.腥 taste. This Smells and Tastes like the Ocean, and is Salty. Not a Taste that I'm used to, I'll be honest.

The Cuttlefish Pieces themselves are Soft and Tender to the Bite. If this is the first time you're trying this, I highly recommend adding Century Egg as I feel it actually helps alot to alleviate some of the Overly Strong Salty Seafood Taste imparting it with a Distinct Rich Century Egg Creamy Flavour.
The Beehoon used is somewhat thicker and looks like the same type used in Sarawak Laksa. Portion is generous and filling.

Culinary Wise, it is very Brave to make such an Overly Strong Seafoody Dish. Personally, not for me. I felt Too Jelak and struggled to finish it. Don't let my Average Score deter you from this Place. While this dish is not for me, and not something I'd try again, I'm not going to mark it down. Hahaha, I salute the Courage of whoever that was Brave (and Crazy) enough to invent such a Dish.
