JB Trip Preview - Taman Melodies

Hey Everyone, Apologies for the Late Post! ๐Ÿ˜…
Today's JB Trip brings me to a Classic Popular JB Suburb that I've visited before: Taman Melodies (็พŽไน่Šฑๅ›ญ)

Not a New Place certainly, the last time I was here was back in 2024 which was quite awhile already ๐Ÿค” so I thought I'd revisit it again. ๐Ÿ‘ Certainly Not an Unfamiliar Suburb with Singaporeans, I thought this Taman has one of the Most Adorable Names given. ❤️ "Taman Melodies" (Garden of Melodies) ๐ŸŽต๐ŸŽถ

I personally classify this Neighbourhood as a "Cafe Suburb" because this Place just seems to be filled with Many Modern Cafes. ☕๐Ÿ˜… 2 of the Arguably Most Famous ones are of course Keijometo and Nimmies Pastry Cafe which I've visited before that you can read about. ๐Ÿ“ In addition to just Modern Cafes, I thought I'd visit some of the Older Eateries around the Neighbourhood to check them out.

Here are some Highlights of the Trip:

Fifty Trees is a decent 4 Stars (Over 1000 Google Map Reviews) Cafe that I specifically wanted to visit just because of this Particular Google Review as you can see. ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿค”

The Reviewer specifically describes their Signature Curry as "Never tasted such Sad Curry Chicken in my Life". ๐Ÿค” Pretty Damning, so I thought I'd give it a try myself to personally test how true this was. ๐Ÿค”

The Dish itself is listed as 3010 Signature Chicken Curry with Toast RM18.90 (S$6.20) ๐Ÿค” Upon tasting the Actual Curry myself, I can truly confirm that Everyone really do indeed have their Personal Tastes when it comes to Food. ๐Ÿ˜…

I have eaten Plenty of "Sad Curries" and this is NOT one of them. ๐Ÿ™…‍♂️ In fact, it was So Rich, Robust and Thick Creamy Gao Gao ๐Ÿ˜‹ that from a Culinary Viewpoint at least, I personally feel this is a Curry that has ALOT of Effort and Work done to it. ๐Ÿ‘ Don't just take my word for it, just look at the Photo. You don't even have to eat this Curry and you can already see how Thick Gao Gao it already is no? ❤️

Hahaha this Curry is the Furthest Thing from Sad for me. ๐Ÿ˜… Not only is the Curry impressive, the Ingredients given within was a (Not Dry at all) Big Fat Thigh Cut and a Drummy together with a Big Hunk of Soft Creamy Potato as you can see. ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ— All these for S$6.20 I feel is really more than fair for the Price. ๐Ÿ‘ Heck infact I'm surprised they are so Generous with this much Meat because I had originally thought a Atas Cafe like this usually only ๆ„ๆ€ๆ„ๆ€ give a Small Amount and Charge High High. ๐Ÿ˜… As you can see, this is absolutely NOT the case here.

I'm sorry if I sound like I am desperately trying to defend the Cafe, but I really do have to say a Fair ๅ…ฌ้“่ฏ here. ⚖️ Not trying to say the Reviewer is lying, but maybe that day he was unlucky got a Bad Batch? Who knows. ๐Ÿค”

One thing interesting though, I had wanted to personally compliment the Chef who made it, but was interestingly dissuaded by the Staffs because apparently according to them, the Chef is
a 70 years old ่€ๅธˆ็ˆถ who is abit...shall we say Eccentric? ๐Ÿ‘จ‍๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ˜… Hahaha Wierd. First time encounter such an Incident. Never got to meet the Chef in the End but they do appreciate my Compliment. ๐Ÿ˜…

Next up is ๆพ้ฆ™้ธก้ฅญ Pine Chicken Rice.
Yet another visit based on a Google Review as you can see. ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿค” I have heard of this JB Chicken Rice Brand myself.

With only 4 Reviews under her name, this Google Reviewer describe until ๆœ‰้พๆœ‰่™Ž so I figured I might as well give this a try too to verify her claims. ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿ˜…

Ordered 3 Items from her List to Test:

T1 Plain Boiled Chicken + T2 Roasted Chicken + Rice = RM13.90 (S$4.60)

B5 Fried Beancurd with Thai Style Chilli Sauce = RM8.90 (S$2.90)

HK Style Milk Tea (Hot) = RM7.90 (S$2.60)

I'm glad to report that I mostly agree with her Review. ๐Ÿ˜„ (She is correct, I also feel the HK Style Milk Tea is not as Gao as Actual HK Milk Tea from Hong Kong. I prefer mine to be Gao Gao.) ☕๐Ÿค” Her 2 other choices were also mostly on point. ๐Ÿ‘

Also she did not mention this, but this may be the 1st Time I've drank a Chicken Soup that is actually boiled with ๅฝ“ๅฝ’.
๐Ÿ˜ณ Hahaha wah. Chicken Soup is usually such a Calefare side item for a Chicken Rice no? ๐Ÿ˜… This is my 1st Time drinking a ๅฝ“ๅฝ’ Side Soup for Chicken Rice. Goodness! ๐Ÿ˜… As for Chicken Quality though, I personally prefer their Roasted Chicken to their Boiled Chicken. And I also understand why she found the Fried Beancurd as "Her Favourite" this was nicely done. ๐Ÿ‘

And of course a Couple of More Places I visited and a Sneak Peak of the Other Dishes I ate! ๐Ÿ˜„

Below are the Complete List of Eateries I visited if you are interested. ๐Ÿ‘
(Hahaha yes, I made an Unannounced Surprise Visit Last Week so thats why you are seeing so many of them.
Of course its impossible to eat so many in just 1 day lah.) ๐Ÿ˜…

And so this ends Day 1 of my May 2026 JB Trip Exploration of
Taman Melodies. ๐Ÿ‘
What will I find Tomorrow Day 2?

As always: Queue? What Queue?
 ๐Ÿ˜„

Hahaha seriously though, I've read that Last Week's Labour Day Long Weekend JB Queue was Horrendous to say the least.
๐Ÿ˜… Protip: NEVER go to JB on Long Weekends if you can. I mean C'mon. 1 Year got 365 Days, you probably won't die if you choose to skip Long Weekends. ๐Ÿ˜… Let your Fellow Malaysian Colleagues easier go back see their Families lah. ❤️ Why you want to tompang and make your own life suffer? ๐Ÿ˜…

As long as there are No Technical E-Gate Issues, Weekends are PERFECTLY POSSIBLE as you can see me going regularly on Weekends since the Beginning of the Year. As long as you can reach JB Kastam by 7.00am on Weekends, you will probably be fine.
๐Ÿ‘ And Yes, if you have been following this Food Blog, there are Many Decent JB Eateries that open 7.00am or even Earlier. JB is not just about City Square Mall y'know ๐Ÿ˜… (Currently Under Renovation btw)

Plan Properly or JB will Punish You Hard if you anyhow suka suka.
๐Ÿ˜…
Always Remember: If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. ๐Ÿ‘
