Once again, credits to Francyn Tan from my previous FB Group who recommended this Place.
According to her, the Salmon here are apparently freshly delivered weekly from Japan.
She even mentioned about visiting a Certain Day of the Week where they receive the Shipment to ensure Freshness. I'm sorry I don't remember exactly when, but I remembered I purposely visited this at the correct day. As I visited this on a Thursday, I suppose this is the Best Day to come?

When it comes to Japanese Sushi and Sashimi, my Fish of Choice is actually Tuna (Maguro) especially the Chutoro and Otoro which are Fatty Cuts. This Place is More Focused on Salmon though, so thats what I went for.

This is a Japanese Restaurant located along a Street of Shophouses. As soon as I entered the Place I could immediately smell a Strong Aroma of Raw Salmon. Very Noticeably Strong in fact. For people who are sensitive to Aromas, you might want to take note of this.

The Restaurant itself don't look new, and feels like it has been around for at least a Couple of Years.
Not Crowded at all when I visited, the Place was Nicely Air-Conditioned. Furnishings were Modern and the Place adopts a Simple Monochrome sort of Colour Scheme.

I liked the Faux Cherry Blossom Tree they have in the Middle of the Restaurant as a 打卡区. The Music they play were a Mix of Modern Jpop Tunes mixed with some English Pop Songs. This is not those Very Stereotypically Traditional Type of Japanese Restaurant.

And indeed this Place is so Non-Traditional, you will not hear the Classic "Irrashaimase" Greeting as you enter. That said, the Staffs are Friendly and the Young Lady who attended to me was Polite and Friendly. Even when she was wearing a Mask, I could still "See" her smile.

She is very Earnest to Help but she herself wasn't sure when I asked her if the Salmon are delivered from Japan. I thought it was strange that a Customer (Francyn) herself knows more about the Salmon and Best Time to Visit to get their Fresh Supply of it than the Actual Staffs here. Maybe this Young Lady is a New Hire?

Anyway, ordering is thru Pencil and Paper and I requested all of the dishes to be served up together.
I'm happy that they are able to do so in about 6 Mins.

Quality of the Soy Sauce

I'm no expert when it comes to Soy Sauce but this taste alright as a Japanese styled Soy Sauce. Its Sharply Saltish as you'd expect. About similar to the Quality you'd get at Don Don Donki I suppose.

SS08 Salmon Sushi (Nigiri) = RM5.50
SS13 Shiro Maguro = RM5.50

Decently Plated and Presented, although the Sushis were ordered separately, they were all plated together.
The Salmon Meat itself was Bright and Beautiful, Firm to the Touch with No Odours. Now I'm no Sushi Connoisseur, but I have made Nigiri Sushi myself before and what I focus on here is the 刀功 Knife Skills. I am impressed with the Clean Cuts on this Nigiri Sushi. You are not going to find Typical Supermarket Level type of Jiao Jiao Cuts. This was done decently.

The Rice is neither Too Sourish or Too Sweetish and felt like the Right Balance of Both. Sticky to the Touch, this was packed shaped with some Standard. As soon as this Salmon touched my Tongue, it melted away nicely with only a Slight Tease of Salmoney Aftertaste. Very Fresh and Clean Tasting, this definitely tasted above Supermarket Level of Sushi.

Shiro Maguro (White Tuna) is a More Neutral Tasting Fish compared to Salmon and being that its Tuna it is of course Very Clean Tasting. Zero Fishiness, also Well Cut and Presented.
In fact, the Nigiri Sushi are so Fresh and Clean Tasting that other than the 1st Piece I dipped to try, I actually don't recommend dipping them in Soy Sauce or Wasabi and would recommend you enjoy them in their Original 原味. That is how Fresh and Clean Tasting they were.

SM01 Salmon Sashimi = RM22.80
SM02 Salmon Belly Sashimi = RM27.80

Despite ordering the Sashimi Pieces separately, they will plate both of them together in a Beautiful Presentation.
Quality of the Wasabi

This isn't Real Wasabi, its the Classic Green Paste "Fight your Nose" type of Wasabi. Real Wasabi is actually a Plant and is Very Much Lighter that you can actually eat it as is without what I call "Wasabi Suffocation".

You can find my Description of how Real Wasabi actually taste like in my Past TUTA Review at The Wagyu Tavern (JB)

Served as a Huge Dollop, this looks Comically Large for the Amount of Sashimi served. No idea if anyone can actually finish this much of it without Crying their Eyes out.

SM01 Salmon Sashimi = RM22.80

Served in 5 Pieces, I like that they are Decently Fat Slices. Decent Knife Cuts with No Jiao Jiao Appearance. Clean and Fresh Tasting with Zero Fishiness. These went down easy even without dipping into any Sauces.

SM02 Salmon Belly Sashimi = RM27.80

Well Presented and Similar in Appearance and also served in 5 Slices, Belly had a Slightly More Oilier and Smoother Texture but also Not Very Oily. These also went down easy with No Jelak.

WM06 Salmon Miso Soup = RM12.90

Decently Presented, of course I dissected this closely. This Dish consists of:
5 Pieces of Salmon
Few Slices of Shitake Mushrooms
1 Small Stalk of Enoki Mushroom
Few Pieces of Soft Plain Tofu
Some Onion slices

Quality of the Soup

Decently Tasty and Salted Level for a Miso Soup. Amount of Miso used is Decent, not Diluted. I like that the "Miso-ness" is also not Overly Strong. I also like that despite this being a Salmon Soup, its not Overly-Salmoney. If you are someone who do not like too 重口味 Salmon Taste in your Salmon Soup, you will probably be ok with this.

The Salmon Pieces are cut in Decent Sizes and don't feel Stingy. Firmish with a Nice Taste of Fresh Salmon. The Rest of the Ingredients tasted as you'd imagine them to taste. Overall a Warm and Comforting Soup that will be nice to eat a Bowl of Rice with.

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts

Taking a look at the Prices, I feel they are fairly priced for what they are.

SS08 Salmon Sushi (Nigiri) = RM5.50 (S$1.80)
SS13 Shiro Maguro = RM5.50
(S$1.80)

SM01 Salmon Sashimi = RM22.80 (S$7.50)
SM02 Salmon Belly Sashimi = RM27.80 (S$9.00)

WM06 Salmon Miso Soup = RM12.90 (S$4.20)

Overall, this was a Decent Place for Japanese Foods. Personally I am impressed with the Quality of their Sushis and Sashimi. While I'm not a Sushi Connoisseur, they do taste Clean and Fresh. In fact they tasted so Clean that other than the 1 time I dipped Soy Sauce, I did not bother to dip them anymore and ate them as is with Zero Jelak and Fishiness. Culinarily, I am also impressed with their Knife Skills and Presentation Style, with No Jiao Jiao Cuts like how you would normally see for a Cheapo Type of Supermarket Sushi.

It was a Pity that the Staff wasn't clear about her Product Knowledge of their Salmon. This took quite a hit on the Score because I cannot 100% confirm if the Salmon are really imported weekly from Japan as what Francyn mentioned when the Staffs themselves don't know.

It was also a tad strange to not hear the Classic "Irrashimase" upon entry given that this is a Japanese Eatery. If Myanmar or Foreign Staffs are able to do it, I'm sure this Place can too. But perhaps its not their Style? Overall I have not much other issues with this place.
If you can accept the Prices listed in the Menu and also accept that this Japanese Restaurant isn't Stereotypically Very Traditional in some aspects, I can still recommend to give this place a try.
