⚠️ For Strict Vegans, you might want to take note that this place serves Eggs. 🥚

Whenever I go on a Food Holiday Trip, I will try my best to include at least 1 Vegetarian Location.
This was a Random Place I found on Google Maps actually and based on the Various Reviews I've seen, it seems quite popular in Kulai.

Location of the Restaurant

If you are taking Grab, choose Yisin Cafe Sdn Bhd on Grab's Map. Hahaha the Actual Restoran is actually located within some Industrial Estate. Because I took Grab here, the Road to this place felt Ulu. Pretty 鸟不生蛋 kind of location.

And I'm not kidding about the Location. It totally looks like I entered some Industrial Estate Area in Jurong / Pioneer Road Area, totally not the sort of Place where you'd normally find any F&B Establishments. The Restoran itself is not just a Small Restoran Tenant, I think they actually own the Whole Big Factory Looking Building!

Check out this Video to see how "Jurong" this Place felt. Same Vibes.
Does this not remind you of some Industrial Estate in our Jurong / Pioneer Road Area?

Interior of the Restaurant

There were not much Customers around as I stepped in at 10.05am on a Weekday although I did notice a Few More Customers also started streaming in the longer I was there although its Not Full House. I thought this was actually quite amazing itself considering how Remote and Ulu this Restoran is located.

The Eatery as you can see is quite Large. In fact its so large, that I suppose it is even capable of holding Big Events, Corporate Functions or even a Vegetarian Wedding here if you wish. Think Chinese 酒楼 but Vegetarian. Its Airconditioned although of course isn't Super Cold when I reached. Still Cool and Comfortable nevertheless.

I liked the Music they played in the background here, which were some Soft Piano Instrumental Renditions of Classic Cantoppop songs. I thought that's quite Classy and certainly added more to the 酒楼 feeling.

The Staffs mostly comprise of Friendly and Polite Myanmar Folks who go about their duties quietly. As I waited for my Dishes, I went exploring and found that they also actually sell some Vegetarian Groceries on the side.

This is where I come to the realization that this Whole Building is probably a Factory dedicated to manufacturing their In-House Vegetarian Products and this Restoran is like maybe a Sample Showcase selling what they are Manufacturing? If this is correct, then its no wonder why they own such a Huge Building.

Hahaha I can't think of a reason otherwise why someone would be so Brave to build a Dedicated Building right in the Middle of an Industrial Estate just to serve Vegetarian Foods. Anyway it took 1 Min for the Tea, 6 Mins for the Luo Han Vegetable, and 8 Mins for the Ham with Broccoli. Everything was served up within 8 Mins.

Nitpicky Etiquette Test

Having said that, despite looking like a 酒楼, I wasn't given an Extra Plate by Default. As I described in my Past Review for 阿明帝皇鸭 Meng Meng Roasted Duck, while you can eat directly from the Dishes served, it is not considered Proper Etiquette to do so. As I waited to test if they are alert to my Plateless Situation. Unfortunately they never reacted. Not quite as 酒楼 Level as I thought.

TC002 Xiang Pian = RM2.50

A Tad Disappointed to find that this was served in a Teabag, not Freshly Brewed out of Natural Ingredients. The Tea itself is Brownish in Colour, not unlike a Standard "Diao He" in a Kopitiam actually.

There is an Aroma of 茉莉花 Jasmine Flower I think? As I drink this in, I thought this tasted similar to the Type of Tea you'd normally expect to drink in a Classic Chinese 酒楼 but what is unique is that the Tea Caffeine hit me hard and strong. This is a Pretty Strong Tea and the 茉莉花 also comes in as an Aftertaste in addition to just Aroma.

2510 Luo Han Mixed Vegetable (Small) =  RM18.00

This is of course the Classic Vegetarian 羅漢齋 Dish. The Version they have here had a Solid Appetizing Delicious Aroma of Fried Capsicum which is always a Very Welcome Aroma to have when eating a Plate of Pure Veggies like this.

The Dish itself comprises of Capsicum of course, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Wood Fungus, Cabbage Slices, Carrot Slices etc. All of them are drenched with this Light and Decent Tasting Zhup that I would describe like a More Atas Quality Version of Tze Char Mui Fan hahaha. I'm happy that this doesn't have that Classic Vegetarian Oyster Sauce taste that I dislike about Vegetarian Foods. Yay.

All the Veggies were Firmish Tender, Not Nua Nua and Nothing was Undercooked. Nothing wrong with this Plate of Veggies, I thought it tasted Very Decent and would probably appeal to even Non-Vegetarians. Nice to eat with Rice 下飯 but even when eating with No Carbs, I thought it was still Enjoyable and Not Overly Salty at all.

1006 Ham w Broccoli (Small) = RM20.00

Beautifully Plated like a Flower, the "Ham" they're referring to are 7 Pieces of Vegetarian Luncheon Meat. Obviously its not made out of Meat but I thought it could still pass in terms of Visual and Aroma if you don't purposely dissect it.

That said, once you bite down into the Luncheon Meat, the Visual Illusion immediately breaks. This taste exactly like a Vegetarian Gluten Char Siew if you have ever eaten such before. It still tries to maintain the Illusion with a Saltish Hit though.

The Processed Nature of this Vegetarian Luncheon Meat is the one that makes me feel that this is probably one of the Products they produce In-House and is also probably for sale too.
This Dish is definitely meant as a Sample Showcase.

Nothing Particularly Special about the Broccoli. I do like the Pieces of Goji Berries they sprinkle on top because it not only adds an Additional Colour to the Dish, it also injected a Quickshot of Sweetness which I thought paired well with the Broccoli to attempt to hit away any what I call "Veggie Monotony" when you eat this dish.

The Zhup they lum in this Dish taste like the Same they use for their 羅漢齋 which makes sense since there is no need to cook another type of Zhup. I'm sure there are other Dishes that they have on their Menu that also re-uses this. But because this Zhup itself has a Decent Foundation, I reckon any Dishes centered around it probably 不会差到哪里去.

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts

At the Price of RM2.50 (S$0.80) is an Affordable Price for their Xiang Pian Tea. Although I was disappointed that its actually a Pre-Packaged Teabag and not freshly brewed from Actual Ingredients.

That said, I thought the Tea itself had some quality to it. It is actually quite a Strong Caffeine Brew comparable to a Coffee even. It certainly was strong enough to give me a Jolt when I drank it.

At the Price of RM18.00 (S$5.70) isn't particularly cheap for what is essentially a Plate of Veggies but I thought was still Acceptable for what it is. Decent Tasting,  I thought this Dish works because the Zhup they use here works.

Decent Tasting like a Mui Fan Zhup, I'm glad it doesn't have that Classic "Vegetarian Oyster Sauce" taste that I did not like for Vegetarian Dishes. This is a Decent Plate of Veggies that I reckon will probably appeal to even Non-Vegetarian Folks too.

At the Price of RM20.00 (S$6.40), I feel this is a Tad Pushing the Line for me on whether this is Worth to Try.

For one thing, I'm not particularly keen on Processed Foods like this Vegetarian Luncheon Meat which is the Actual Highlight of this Dish. Nothing particularly Special about it tbh, if you have tasted Vegetarian Char Siew made out of Gluten, this taste about the Same.

What I thought interesting was that (if my theory is correct), this Vegetarian Luncheon Meat is probably made in-house by themselves. This Dish is probably a sort of Showcase Sampler for Customers to try out before purchase?

Overall, I actually don't have much issues with this place. In fact, I thought the place itself is very interesting being located in such Unique Industrial Estate by itself and I'm impressed that there are actually Customers visiting this place on a Weekday as I observed when I was dining here.

Don't let my Average Score deter you. While I wouldn't call this place an Absolute Die Die Must Come Place. But it was certainly a Slightly More Interesting Experience to eat Vegetarian in a rather Out of the Way Industrial Estate like this. If you are looking for a Vegetarian Place, don't mind that this place is located in a Rather Ulu Industrial Estate and is Ok with the Prices on their Menu, I can still recommend to give this a Try.
