After eating from the Famous 阿宗麵線 Ay-Chung Flour-Rice Noodle and getting a tad disappointed by the Overly Touristy Vibe from it, 🤔 I thought I'd look for a Less Famous One to try. 🤔
This was a Completely Random Eatery that I just visited since it was near to the Hostel where I was staying. 🏨
Interior of the Eatery
Run by a Friendly Young Couple, as you can see this really was a Small Eatery along a Street. 🤔 Despite how small it was, it still had at least 4 Small Tables for Customers to Dine-In although most Customers I saw bought this for Takeaway. 🛍️
If you want to Dine In, just Walk-In, Grab a Seat 🪑 and Order what you'd like. They do have an English Menu. 👍 They'll ask you if you want Spicy or Non-Spicy. 🌶️ Pay first and it will be served up to you. It only took about 1 Min for mine to be served up.

Once it was served up, I was immediately impressed by the Presentation. 👍 Even though its a Small, its actually Quite a Large Bowl. 👍 There were Pieces of Fat Oysters, 🦪 Few Pieces of Pig Intestines, 🐷 and Pieces of Taiwan Pork 🐷 all garnished with a Generous Amounts of Coriander. 🌿

I was once again Immediately Impressed upon taking my First Sip of the Mee Sua Broth. 🍲😋 Compared to Ay-Chung, this Broth has a Much More Comfortable Level of Bonito Flake. 🐟 Normally, you'd think the Stronger the Bonito Flake Flavour the Better right? 🤔
Not in this Case. Ay-Chung's version was Too Overwhelmingly Strong that I felt it Dominated way too much. 🤔 The Version here was Not as Overpowering. 👍 It formed a Nice Background Canvas to also let the Rest of the Ingredients Perform, while still simultaneously making its Presence still be felt. ♥️
I also liked the Little Splash of Black Vinegar and a Faint Peppery Hit that really made this Broth Bloom. 😋 The Amount of Mee Sua given was Very Acceptable for the Price 👍 and they were Soft and Smooth that Slides down my Throat Easily. 😋

Pig Intestines were Savoury Saltish, 🐷 Pigginess is Elevated but not too much. The Texture was Soft and Tender. 😋 The Taiwan Pork (and I know it was Taiwan Pork because of that Sticker Logo they pasted) again really tasted like Chicken than Pork. 🐷🐔😅 Zero Pigginess in them, they were also Very Tender to the Bite. 😋
The Oysters were Fresh and Clean Tasting 🦪 and they injected some Raw Seafoodiness into the Dish bringing it to Another Level. 👍I don't think Ay-Chung's Version even added Oysters. 🤔 Making this a True Legit Taiwanese Orh Ah Mee Sua.

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts
At the Price of TWD65 (S$2.70) this is Exactly the Same Price as a Small Bowl from Ay-Chung, 🤔 but the Difference here is like Heaven and Earth 一个天, 一个地. 😅
Personally, I feel it was the Broth here that really did it for me. 🍲👍 Ay-Chung's Broth Bonito Flake felt Too Much and Too Overpowering and never let the Rest of its Ingredients have any Chance to Perform. 🤔 And the Ingredients were also Not Alot and Noticeably Stingy. Ay-Chung's Version tasted "Very Touristy" if it makes any sense. 😅

The Broth here in Comparison was Much More Gentle with their Bonito Flake Flavour 🐟 and felt like they took Much More Care in Making It. ♥️ Every Ingredient given were Acceptable for the Price. 👍 Nothing Clashed at all and worked in Harmony. 😋 Eating Everything Together felt like THIS is how a True Taiwanese Mee Sua should taste. 🇹🇼🍜
I am Very Impressed with the Quality of this Mee Sua. 🍜 Eating this really felt like there was Alot of Hard Work, Passion and Soul poured into this. ♥️ Something that I never felt when I was eating Ay-Chung's Version. 🤔 Compared to Ay-Chung, the Ingredients were So Much More Well Presented as you can see in the Comparison Photo. 📷
I am even More Impressed that this was just a Random Mee Sua Shop that I just wandered into just because it was Near My Hostel. 😅 It goes to show that sometimes just because something is Very Famous, doesn't mean its the Best. 🤔 所为天外有天, 人外有人. 👍
Having said that, I'm not saying Ay-Chung is completely Trash. 🙅♂️ If you enjoy Ay-Chung, don't let me stop you. Some People may prefer the Much More Stronger Bonito Flake Flavour for their Mee Sua. 🐟 Everyone have different tastes after all. When you're here in Taiwan though, don't just blindly queue for all the Famous Ones. 🤔
Give the Less-Famous Ones a Try too. Sometimes you might just find a Surprise Hidden Gem like this! 😄
This was an Easy Highest Top Score for me. Highly Recommended! ♥️
