This was a Vegetarian Eatery that I found on Google Maps 🌏 while exploring for places to eat near the Taman Daya Pasar Pagi Area.
Its very nicely furnished, cleanly maintained and Nicely Airconditioned. ❄️ Upon stepping into the place, it gave me a Very Calming Greenery sort of vibe. 🌿😌 I especially liked the Music they play here which was a Classy Soft Piano Renditions of Classic Teresa Teng Songs. 🎵🎶 The Staffs are Polite and Mostly kept to Themselves and as you can see was quite crowded with Customers although not Full House at around 8.40am when I was there. 🌞

Vegetarian Mee Rebus and Otak seems to be the Signatures
and are frequently mentioned and praised in Google Reviews of this place. 🤔

It took 3 Mins for Everything to be served up together which was quite impressive considering the Elevated Crowd level when I was there.

N1 咖啡乌 Kopi-O-Kosong (Hot) = RM3.20

Served in a Classic and Beautifully Ornate Looking Cup and Saucer Set, the Amount of Coffee given was so Generous that it Flowed Right to the Brim and Overflowed to the Saucer. ☕👍

I liked the Robust Coffee Aroma and it had a Slight Bitterness in its taste. 😋 While its not a Super Strong Smack you Awake type of Coffee, it can still give you a Caffeine Buzz. Not Bad Tasting. 👍

Otak-Otak Addon = RM3.00

So this is purchasable as an Add-On if you were to buy a Main Meal 主食. I ordered this simply because of how raved it was by Google Reviewers. 🌏🤔 Culinarily I'm also very interested to see how an Otak can be made Vegetarian when its normally supposed to be a Fish Paste. 🐟🤔

When it was served up, I was immediately impressed by how big it is for the price. 👍 Although not Super Hot, it was Room Temp. Appearance Wise, it really did look like a Real Non-Vegetarian Otak Otak. 🤔 They even serve this on a Piece of Banana Leaf to keep up the Illusion. 😅

Biting into it, the 1st thing you notice is the Elevated Level of Spiciness. 🌶️ Its elevated but doesn't bite your tongue. The Texture was the one that really surprised me because this really taste Very Close to the Real Thing! 😳 Soft and Fleshy, it even has that Familiar Slightly Fishy Iconic Otak Aftertaste that you'd expect when you eat an Otak. 😋 The Illusion is so good that if you don't tell someone that this is Vegetarian, chances are they may not even realize it is Vegetarian. 🥬😅 Heck I even feel that because of its Nice Fleshy Bite Texture, this taste nicer than some of the Overly Dry Pasar Malam styled of Otak. 😅

The more I ate this Otak Otak, the more I kept dissecting in my mind how this was made. 🤔 I reckon Tofu probably forms the Core and Main Meat. Its the Clever Mix of Familiar Otak Spices that really maintains the Illusion. 🌿👍 Eating this made me really re-think and re-evaluate what actually is important for an Otak. Is it the Spices used? 🌿 The type of Fish? 🐟 or even Lack thereof? Very Well Made. No wonder this was so Highly Praised by Google Reviewers. 👍

T7 爪哇面 Mee Rebus = RM12.90

This is the Main Signature Dish and is also Highly Raved by Google Reviewers. 🌏🤔 When it was served up, the Presentation looked Big and Generous. It certainly felt like a Big Plate of Food. 👍 The Ingredients in the Dish consists of Yellow Noodles of course, 5 Slices of Tofu, Half an Egg and Pieces of what looks like Faux Fried Prawn Crackers. 🤔

The Mee Rebus Gravy

This Gravy is definitely Alot Lighter in Taste compared to a Real Mee Rebus. 🍲🤔 It is Sweetish but not Overly So. Something about this Gravy really clicks with me and I really like it especially because of how light tasting it tasted. 😋 There is a Mild Spiciness that won't bite but will linger abit on your Tongue. 🌶️

If you are the type that insists on your Mee Rebus Gravy to be the more Authentic Malay-Styled 重口味 taste, you will probably not like this. 🤔 That said, I still feel you should give this a Try because despite it being a Much Lighter Version, it still has a Nice Savoury Taste that I feel might appeal to even Non-Vegetarians. 👍

The Yellow Noodles

Amount of Yellow Noodles I feel is acceptable for 1 person. 🍝 Not too much, and also Not too little. Although most likely from a Package, I still liked their Soft Texture that is neither Too Firm nor Too Soft. 👍 Slurping them with that Very Nice Light Gravy was Delightful as they slide smoothly down my Throat. 😋

Tofu Slices and Egg

Nothing Particularly Special about the Tofu Slices and Egg, they taste exactly how you'd expect them to taste. 👍

The Faux Prawn Crackers

The Faux Prawn Crackers were made out of Fried Dough and were Crispy with a Nice Taste of Fried Oil. 😋

There are alot of them and I thought it was Clever from a Culinary Viewpoint on how they utilized them in this Dish to perform Multiple Functions:

1) These Faux Crackers are basically just Fried Flour and Very Cheap to make since they're basically just Flour and Oil after all. 👍

2) Because they're Cheap to make, they can afford to put a Large Amount of them in the Dish to make the Dish look alot more Fuller and Impressive. 🤔

3) These Faux Fried Crackers themselves give the Dish a Nice Crispy Bite Texture amidst the Softness of Everything Else in the Dish. 😋

4) Fried Foods have Mass Appeal. Most people aren't gonna complain to eat something Fried and Crispy in a Dish. 😅

Hahaha sorry to go off on such a Wild Tangent. 😅 I enjoy Cooking and I just think its very Clever on Multiple Fronts to use Fried Flour like this. 👍 That said, I did not bother to finish all the Fried Flour myself also lah since Old already I also tried limit myself from eating too much Fried Stuffs. 😅 Eating Everything together is Satisfying and adding that Otak Otak as an Addon pairs very well. 👍 It adds yet another Otak Taste to the Dish and Enhances it even more. 😋

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts

At a Total Combined Price of RM19.10 (S$5.80) for Everything without Service Charges, I thought this was a Very Reasonable Price to pay for what it is. 👍

The ☕ Kopi-O-Kosong was Decent Tasting and the 🍝 Mee Rebus was Satisfyingly Filling. Although the Gravy is certainly Lighter than True Authentic Mee Rebus, I thought it was made well and can still appeal, even to Non-Vegetarians. 🍲👍 I am also impressed at how Clever they utilize the Faux Fried Prawn Cracker like this to perform Multiple Functions to the Dish like this. Whoever designed this Dish knew what they were doing. 👍

Its the Otak Otak that I'm really impressed with. 😋 It really tasted like the Real Thing and totally made me re-think and dissect Culinarily what really is the Main Component that we look out for when we eat an Otak. 🤔 I'm not sure if Tofu is used in the making of this, but I also can't think of anything else that is able to do it like this. 🤔

Something about this Eatery and the Mee Rebus just clicked well with me. 👍 The Place is really nice, Staffs are Friendly and Polite, and the Amount of Customers that I see also showed me that this is a Place that even the Locals enjoy. 👍 If you are looking for a Vegetarian Eatery here in Taman Daya, I can definitely recommend this place to try. 😋 I feel that even Non-Vegetarians will probably also enjoy this place too.
