Char Kuey Teow (Chicken Egg) = RM9.00

This is a Michelin Bib Gourmand Food Stall.

Located within the Joo Hooi Kopitiam, this is also conveniently located right next to the
Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul at Lebuh Keng Kwee. 🤔 Although the Kopitiam itself was crowded, there were No Queue as of 4.50pm on a Monday Evening. As I mentioned in my Chendul Review, you can actually bring your Teochew Chendol into this Kopitiam and enjoy it together with the Char Kuey Teow if you want. 👍

The CKT Stall is run by a Young Chap and his Elder Mom. 👨🧓 Despite the Adorable Cartoon Mascot of a Guy in the Signboard, presumably the "仁哥" in the name, its the Elder Lady who is doing the Main Cooking. 🧓👍 They are Friendly and especially the Young Chap has a Very Genki and Friendly Welcoming Demeanor. 😄 The CKT was quickly served up in about 2 Mins.

Char Kuey Teow (Chicken Egg) = RM9.00

First Impression, the CKT is actually a pretty small plate with a Piece of Banana Leaf at the Bottom. 🍽️ That said, the Amount of CKT is piled high so despite being a Small Plate, its just about enough for 1 Person. Has a Very Nice Fried CKT Aroma wafting from it. 😋

This was the 1st CKT I actually eaten in Penang. 🇲🇾 The First Bite of it was quite Oily but taste Surprisingly Light. 😋 Considerably Lighter than most of the CKT we have in Singapore. Neither Overly Sweet nor Salty. The Kway Teow also noticeably have a Crystaline Look to them. 👍

All the Ingredients in a Standard CKT are here, Cockles, 🦪 Egg, 🥚 Prawns, 🦐 Lup Cheong. 🍖 All of them were very standard tasting although I enjoyed the 2 Fat Prawns as they were Bouncy, Juicy and Taste Sweet. 😋 I feel this is a CKT that will probably appeal more for People who enjoy a Lighter Tasting, not so 重口味 CKT.

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts

At the Price of RM9.00 (S$2.70), it is worth the Money to give this a Try, but I'll be very honest, I didn't think this was a Particularly Special Tasting CKT. 🤔 Other than tasting lighter than usual, I just thought it tasted quite normal for a CKT. 🤔 While this is a Well Made Plate of CKT, personally I don't feel it is worth to fly all the way to Penang just to eat this. I certainly won't queue for this either even if it's Michelin Rated. 🤔

I do appreciate the Very Genki, Friendly and Welcoming Demeanor of the Young Chap manning this place and he is a Main Reason why I can still recommend this place. 👍

As this is also just next to the
Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul, why not just shunbian also give this a try if there are no queues. 👍 Don't forget to visit the also Michelin Bib Gourmand Rated Penang Road Famous Laksa which is just a few steps away too! 👍
