Got to know of this Unique Little Place from FB Posts and TikTok Videos. This is a Classic 住家料理. There are many such places in JB where people convert their Residential House into a Eatery or Restoran. One very nice one I featured in the Past is 義興三叔 百年潮州水晶包 Ngee Heng Crystal Buns in Taman Pelangi.
At least this was when I first visited them back in January 2026.
They are no longer a Residential Location anymore and this is how their Latest Shop looks like based on Google Maps. Photo Credit to Ang Hong Huat from Google Maps.

Below Review I've written was based on when they were Still Located in their Old Residential House at Taman Johor Jaya.
The Dish sold here is of course 炸虾饼 Fried Prawn Cracker or "Cucur Udang". What it is is a Savoury Fried Dough Pastry with Full-Prawns within. The Actual Place is in a Quiet Residential Neighbourhood and other than 1 Car that drove up to collect an Online Order, there were no other people except me as of 9.47am on a Weekend.
Just as the Sign indicates, the Actual Location where they sell the item is at the Back of the House, not Front Door where you can see the Back Kitchen where they Fry them up. There are No Dining In and this is only for Takeaway.

Really Friendly Owner, I really liked that compared to Regular Food Stalls that sell this where its already Pre-Fried sitting in some Heater Cabinet, the ones here are made Fresh on the Spot so it was Super Amazing Piping Hot. If you can, I would recommend to eat as soon as you can to enjoy how Fresh this tasted.
There are a Total of 4 Different Variations so of course I bought 1 of each to review. It takes awhile though since its Freshly Fried upon order, about maybe 7 Mins? I'd imagine it might be quite a wait if there are more Customers. You can pre-order via Whatsapp if you want.

Quality of the Provided Chilli Condiments
The Kampong Koh Chilli Packet is a Classic Garlic Chilli that would be very familiar if you visit most Dim Sum Eateries in JB. Very Classic Sweetish and Robustly Garlicky Chilli. Not Very Spicy, Spiciness is quite Mild.
The Other Packet Chilli is Much More Sourish with a Taste Profile that is similar to the Type of Chilli you'd get with Chicken Rice. Its not exactly Chicken Rice Chilli but it has a Similar Note. Spiciness is abit elevated and while it doesn't bite hard, will kiss your tongue spicy.

Fried Shrimp Patties = RM2.50
This is the Basic Version which consists of 6 Shrimps. Freshly Fried, it was actually Super Hot to the Touch. There is a Very Delicious Fragrance of Oil 油香味. What I particularly like is that the Dough Part is not Too Thick actually compared to some others sold elsewhere. This results in a Really Nice Bite Texture that's never doughy with a Savoury Almost Biscuity Crunch.
The Shrimps themselves are fried with Shell-On, so it delivers an Additional Layer of Crunch. Together with the Fleshy Meaty Prawns, you get a Nice Delicious Prawny Flavour that taste Fresh with No 臭虾味. Really Love the Not Too Thick Pastry that formed the "Carb" part of this Pastry. Delicious.

Fried Massive Shrimp Patties = RM4.50
This is just like their Basic 6 Shrimps Version, but you get 14 Shrimps in this one.
The Prawn Flavour in this one is Much More Prominent and Gao Gao.
That said, while the Initial Few Bites tasted Nice, the More you eat this, the More the Prawn Flavour intensified until it became a Tad Overwhelming Jelak. Hahaha. I guess there is such a thing as Too Much of a Good Thing.

Fried Shrimp & Vege Patties = RM3.00
I think this Version has 3 Shrimps here? Again, the Base Pastry is the same as their Basic Version.
Less Prawny, and this time there is an Additional Flavour from some Freshly Cut Red Chilli Slices.
Not Spicy at all, I thought the Red Chilli Slices were a Welcome Addition to add a Slight Freshness to switch up the Flavour. Hahaha I thought It was a Welcome relief after tasting that Hardcore 14 Shrimps version. Not Bad.

Fried Mantis Shrimp Patties = RM4.00
This is the one that I thought was the Most Unique Among them. Because despite being called a "Mantis Shrimp", the Actual Pastry itself not only does not look like Actual Shrimp was used, the Meat actually interestingly tasted more like Salmon Fish than Shrimps.
Really Unique, this really tasted more like Salmon than a Prawn and I had to eat a few more times to make sure. I think this may be the Most Unique version they have here because I don't recall seeing this "Mantis Shrimp" version in Food Stalls that sells Cucur Udang.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion and Closing Thoughts
At an Average Price of about RM4.00 (S$1.40) for each Cucur Udang, I thought it was a Pretty Reasonable Price for each of them. The Main Thing I liked about them is that they are Freshly Fried upon Order, not kept in some Heater Cabinet. So you get literally the Hottest Freshest Right off the Wok Quality of Cucur Udang you can get.
I also particularly liked that the Dough part for all of them was actually Not Thick Thick Type, Not at all Doughy, Not too Thin either and provided a Nice Carb Base for all of them. As for the Flavours available, my Personal Preference is actually their Basic Classic 6 Shrimps Version because this provided just the Right Amount of Shrimps Balance and Dough and didn't taste too Jelak. At the Price of RM2.50 (S$0.90) each, it was also the Most Affordable among them.

The Most Unique One is definitely the Mantis Shrimp version which I don't think I've ever seen sold in other places. This is the One that actually taste like I'm eating Salmon instead of Shrimp. This is a Unique One I can also recommend.
Is it worth to take the time to visit this just to eat Cucur Udang which you can buy from somewhere else? For me, yes because I really like how Not Doughy this was, and especially you are getting this Freshly Boiling Hot Off-The-Wok which you cannot find in most other places.

Try to eat this as soon as you can and don't leave it for too long for Maximum Crunch and Freshness. Shiok.
The Owner was also Pretty Friendly and I have no issues with the Place overall.
If you are near the Area, I can recommend to swing by and give it a try if you enjoy Cucur Udang.
Just remember to eat in Moderation and Hydrate Adequately because this is a Pretty Heaty Pastry.
