Hey Everyone,
Continuing with my Exploration of Western JB, today's Trip brings me to a Brand New Location at Gelang Patah
Hahaha and you know what Westies?
I've found yet another place in Western JB to eat Goose again! ๐ Hahaha don't worry, I did manage to try it this time, ๐
although it is prepared in a rather Different, yet Still Quite Familiar Culinary Style! ๐
In addition, thanks to my Friend Lee Nah, apparently nearer to the Woodlands Causeway, there is ANOTHER New Goose Restoran in R&F Mall! ๐ณ So interesting, all of a Sudden it seems that JB is suddenly springing up quite a Few Goose Restorans! ๐
Truly alot of Firsts for me for this trip. ๐ First time in Gelang Patah, First time coming back to Singapore via Tuas 2nd Link. ๐ Quite a Lengthy Preview today, so Grab a Cup of Coffee, Sit Back and Relax. ☕๐
The Classic Kampung Vibe of Gelang Patah

The Atas Modern Side is really Atas Looking. ๐ค To be fair, this Area is known more as "Eko Botani / Eco Galleria". ๐ค Certainly Much More Upmarket, More Contemporary Modern Cafes and Restorans and ESPECIALLY how many Data Centres in Construction there were. ๐ค Just as the Recent News have reported, there are indeed many Data Centres being built here and we will certainly see much more Big Changes (Good or Bad) that will arise from them in the Years to come I suppose. ๐ค
The Modern Atas Vibe of Eko Botani (Also Gelang Patah?)

First up though, lets step away from Gelang Patah / Eko Botani for awhile. Special Thanks to my Friend Lee Nah for highlighting this Restoran in R&F Mall that not only serves Goose, but is also currently having a Promotion going on. ๐
Information Source is directly from R&F Mall's Official Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/RnFMallJB
So there is a "Crazy Wednesday Promo" currently going on. ๐ค From 18-May-2026 to 31-Dec-2026, various Restorans and Shops in R&F Mall are having Wednesdays-Only Price Promotions. The Restoran that serves Goose is also doing this as you can see. Promo Price is RM84.00 ๐ค
Below are the Details of the Restoran:
ไธๅ้ฃๅบ Dong Bei Shi Fu Restaurant
Address: L2-117 & L2-118 Mercu, R&F, 1, Jalan Tanjung Puteri 1, Tanjung Puteri, 80300 Johor Bahru, Johor Darul Ta'zim, Malaysia (Located within R&F Mall)

I have personally not tried this Restoran before, so I have no idea on the Actual Quality.
I'm just putting it out here, in case anyone is interested. ๐ Hahaha Sharing is Caring right? ๐ Always good to have a New Goose Restoran me thinks. Once again thanks to Lee Nah for highlighting this Promo to me. ๐
Eastern Johor Bahru:
Tanjung Puteri (R&F Mall): CMJ Kitchen ๆฝฎๆปก่ฎฐ่ๆฝฎๆฑ้ฅญๅบ
Northern Johor Bahru:
Taman Mount Austin: ๆฐ้่ฎฐ·ไธญ่ฏ้ขจๅณ Xin Long Ji Chinese Restaurant
Western Johor Bahru:
Bukit Indah: ไธๅ็น่ฒ็ฒค่้ฆ Cantonese Gourmet (I have not tried. This needs to Pre-Book 1 Day in Advance)
Gelang Patah: ้กบๅพท้ฆ Shun De Cuisine (Today's Preview Highlight. The Review will be Posted in Future)
Alright, here are some Highlights of the Trip:
้กบๅพท้ฆ Shun De Cuisine was kindly recommended by Jolene Lai from my Former FB Group. ๐ They of course specialize in China "Shun De ้กบๅพท" Cuisines. Shun De itself is a District in Foshan Guangdong ไฝๅฑฑๅนฟไธ.
Yes that same Foshan ไฝๅฑฑ of the Famous (and Highly Exaggerated) Wong Fei-Hung ้ป้ฃ้ดป. ๐ Widely celebrated as the Birthplace of Authentic Cantonese Cuisines which was especially intriguing for me since I am Cantonese myself. ๐

Authentic Cantonese Cuisines aside, the Real Reason why I'm here
is really because of their Flame Drunken Goose. ็ซ็ฐ้้น ๐
ๅๅช Half Goose = RM168.00 (S$54.00)
ไธๅช 1 Whole Goose = RM336.00 (S$107.00)
Despite the "Flame" in the Name, ๐ฅ its served in a Huge Wok actually More Braised as you can see.
The Dish actually tastes like the Very Familiar ๅง่ฑ้ธก "Ginger Scallion Chicken". ๐ค
Really familiar taste that I'm sure you will probably have eaten before, I didn't realize that this Dish is considered Cantonese. ๐ Spoiler: This Place doesn't get my Top Score, but its still a Recommended from me. ๐

Today's Trip is also a Learning Experience for me on how to come back to Singapore via the Tuas 2nd Link. ๐๐ Being a Northern Singaporean myself, I've never used Tuas 2nd Link. ๐ Quite an Interesting Process actually and quite Different from how I'd usually use the Woodlands Causeway to go back. ๐ค
I will be doing up a Detailed Step-By-Step Guide in the Future for anyone who will be interested (Especially for Northerners like me who have never used Tuas 2nd Link and is interested in Exploring Western JB.) ๐
As you can see its Very Expensive for me as a Northerner to take Grab to Western JB like Gelang Patah. ๐ RM42.23 (S$13.50) was actually what I paid for Non-Peak Hour Price at 7.15am so you can imagine how much higher Peak Hour Prices if I were to return back. ๐ Thus learning how to come back directly via Tuas 2nd Link would be a Much More Affordable and Smarter Choice. ๐๐
For now, here are some Quick Information:
1) Yes, you can Enter JB via Woodlands Causeway and return back to Singapore via Tuas 2nd Link. (And Vice Versa too I suppose.) ๐ There are No Issues in doing so. I personally used E-Gates with No Problems. ๐
2) Taxis or Ride-Hailing Services such as Grab are NOT ALLOWED to enter JB-side 2nd Link Kastam. ๐ซ๐ Its not like our Woodlands Causeway side, where you can just take a Grab back to JB Sentral or City Square and then cross the Causeway to go back Singapore. There are No Malls next to the 2nd Link Kastam where they can drop off.
If you are not Driving, your only means of Transport in Western JB coming back to Singapore are Public Buses. ๐๐ค Its a 2 Step Procedure: You take a Public Bus to the JB-Side 2nd Link Kastam, and after Immigration, you board another Public Bus to cross over the 2nd Link Bridge to our SG-Side 2nd Link Tuas Kastam.
3) On a Non-Peak Hour Period from the Time I boarded the Bus at JB Gelang Patah Bus Terminal on Saturday 12.40pm, till the time I step foot into Singapore and cross SG-Side 2nd Link Tuas Kastam at 1.27pm, it took me Roughly 47 Mins give or take. ๐๐ค Of course the Journey Timing would be different depending on where you board the Bus.
I will be preparing a More In-Depth Guide in the Future so do stay tuned for it! ๐๐
Alright with that aside, here are a Couple of More Places I visited and a Sneak Peak of the Other Dishes I ate! ๐

Below are the Complete List of Eateries I visited if you are interested. ๐
(Hahaha again yes, I made an Unannounced Surprise Visit Last Week so thats why you are seeing so many of them.
Of course its impossible to eat so many in just 1 day lah.) ๐
