When you're here in KSL City Mall, you will most likely have seen this Eatery located near to the Escalator at the LG Level. I thought the Chinese Name "老油鬼鬼" sounded Adorable (Old Oil Ghost Ghost). 👻😅 It looks like it specializes in 油条 YouTiao (Chinese Dough Fritter) and Soya Milk but they do sell other items. Not really a Full Sit-Down Restaurant Per Se, more like a Small Place to Relax after some Shopping. 🛍️ Not exactly the Most Popular Eatery in this Mall, but I do see Regular Customers now and then. Not much Customers when I was here on a Thursday Morning at 10.00am.

The Staffs are a Couple of Young Chaps and while they appear to be Friendly, I did see them raise their voices slightly towards what looks like a Filipino or Indonesian Lady who herself wasn't quite sure of what to order. 🤔 I get that sometimes it can be frustrating to wait upon a Very Indecisive Customer, but Noticeably Raising their Voice and projecting their Irritation is also perhaps not the best solution. 🤔

To order, go up to the Counter and order what you want. After paying, wait there and they will handover the food to you similar like a Fast Food Outlet. I ordered their Set E, which is 4 of their Main Food Items. It took about 3 Mins for me to collect.
豆浆水 Soya Bean Milk (Hot)
When you order this, they will ask if you want the Hot or Cold version. This is not the Gao Gao type of Soya Milk and tasted Noticeably Diluted and Watery. 😒 Not Impressive at all. 👎 I do like that it comes default with No Sugar, although I thought I could still taste a Teensy Weensy Bit of it.

If you want yours to be Sweeter, you can of course add More Sugar although I don't think they provide Sugar Syrup. Really Basic Below-Average type of Watery Soya Milk. 👎 Nothing Special at all. I reckon even our SG Hawker Centre Soya Milk taste better than this. 😅
油条 YouTiao
Even when I'm One of the First Customers here at 10.00am when they first open, these didn't taste Freshly Fried. 😒 They weren't Cold either, just Very Mildly Warmish. Disappointing. Its not served in its Long Form as its cut into pieces. Not Crispy at all with a Very Average Soft Bitefeel. Slightly Salted and Unremarkable. 👎

Dipping it into Porridge taste Slightly Better, Dipping into Soya Milk just makes it Soggy. 😅 This is a Very Basic 油条 YouTiao. Again, Nothing Special about this. Very Disappointed that this isn't Freshly Hot and Crispy even when I was one of their First Customers during their Opening Hours. 👎 I'd imagine they'd be even more Nua Nua later in the Day. 🤔
粥 Porridge
Basically a Plain White Porridge. Looks Plain and Smells Plain with some Scallion Slices. No Fragrant Oil or Taste or anything. 🤔 There is a Very Slight Bit of Saltiness in it and what i think is a Very, Very, Very Faint Hint of Cuttlefish? 🤔 Really Plain and almost Bland, this is the type of Porridge that Hospitals would serve to Patients. 😅🏥

If you are someone who needs to watch your Salt Intake, I feel the Default Salt Level in this may be enough. If not, feel free to drizzle more Soy Sauce. But thats it. This is Hospital Standard Plain White Porridge. 😅
药材盐蒸鸡 Herbal Salted Chicken Leg
Now THIS is the Dish that actually looks Impressive. 👍 Its a Whole Fat Herbal Chicken Drummy thats stewed in Danggui 当归. 🐔 The Smell of Danggui is Strong and there are even Pieces of Danggui. Its served Very Hot and the Danggui Taste is Very Noticeable. The Soup/Gravy they drench over this however is Very Oily. 🤔

This Drummy was Quite a Chonky Boy consisting of a Drummy and Thigh and Thankfully the Meat taste Tender, Juicy and Soft. 😋 I thought the Danggui taste penetrated well, making this taste Quite Flavourful. Also Not Overly Salty or Chickeny, this is the one that impressed me among the Dishes I tried. 👍 I mean of course its Not Atas Restaurant Quality Standard lah, but it is Decent for a Herbal Danggui Chicken. Like I mentioned, the thing I disliked was the Zhup they lum all over this which I felt was a Tad Too Oily. 🤔

Food Hack Protip:
Combining this Herbal Chicken with the Porridge will turn them into a Nice Warm and Comforting Chicken Porridge 😋 although you do have to note that it can make the Porridge a Tad Oilier due to the Oiliness of the Zhup. But it elevates the Porridge immensely if you were to combine them like this. 👍

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts.
At the Total Combined Price of RM25.00 (S$7.60), I felt that other than their Herbal Chicken, all the other items were a Complete Joke and a Waste of Money. 👎 豆浆水 Soya Milk was Watery and Diluted AF, 油条 YouTiao wasn't even Crispy and was Basic Average at Best, and the 粥 Porridge is basically Bland Tasteless Hospital Food. 😅🏥
The Herbal Chicken is really the Only Thing here that even felt remotely worth the Money, and I was actually impressed that the Danggui Taste is Very Prominent. 😋 Its as if they completely neglected all the other Dishes and just focused all their effort on this Herbal Chicken instead. 😅

Personally, I feel their Set F which consists of only their Herbal Chicken + Porridge is the only Worthwhile Set to buy because you can combine them into a "Herbal Chicken Porridge" like what I did. 👍 This Set F cost RM17.70 (S$5.40) which while isn't exactly Cheap itself, is still a Better Value overall if you decide to eat here.
Truth be told, I myself didn't hold much high hopes for this place either, but their Herbal Chicken surprised me. 👍 But as I said, even this is not Super Amazing or anything but at least it tasted like there's some Basic Effort done for it.
Have you eaten from this Eatery before? I'd love to know how you think about it! 😄
