A Brief History of 宮原眼科 Miyahara
Miyahara Ice Cream is a Former Ophthalmologist Clinic 👓 opened in 1927 by a Japanese Optician, Dr Takekuma Miyahara 宮原武熊, 👨⚕️ hence its Chinese name 宮原眼科 which directly translates to "Miyahara Eye Clinic". (Information and Image Source: Bulao125.com )
I won't go into further History as you can Easily Google it if you're interested. 👍 Today, it is More Well-Known as a Pastry Gift Shop 🍰 and Ice Cream Parlour 🍨 in Taiwan Taichung. Quite a Drastic Departure Career Change from its Original Purpose! 😅
The Building comprises of 2 Distinct Sections. The Main Building Interior houses the Confectionery Pastry Gift Shop and a Restaurant, 🍰 while the More Famous Ice Cream Parlour 🍨 is actually just a Very Small Section right outside of the Building.

🍰 The Main Building Interior
This is a Really Big Majestic Area as you can see from the Video. 🎥 I'm sure there is a Name to this Sort of Renovation Design, but as a Layman, the Only Thing I could think of is Hogwarts in Harry Potter! 🧙♂️🧙♀️🪄
Just for Fun, I added the Harry Potter Theme into the Video as you can see. 🎵🎶
Hahaha! Tell me does this place not remind you of Hogwarts? 😅🪄

The Place is Free for you to Explore and Look Around. 👍 It is afterall a Pastry Gift Shop. 🍰🛍️ Lavishly Designed and Comfortably Air-Conditioned, this Place just looks Magnificent. ♥️ Other than a Few Little Hints and Nods to its Original History, if you didn't know, you wouldn't even have thought that this was once an Ophthalmologist Clinic. 👓🤔
Various sorts of Pastries are available here such as Taichung's Iconic Sun Cake, 🌞 Taiwanese Pineapple Cakes 🍍 and Many Others. 🍰 There is also a Restaurant that I didn't visit, but I'm sure its quite Atas given that this Interior is already so Impressive. ♥️

🍨 The Ice Cream Parlour outside the Main Building
Located outside of the Main Building, you can easily see this because its the Section with the Most Crowd of People. 🎉 Even on a Weekday Afternoon, it was filled with Foreign Tourists and even a Couple of Locals too as you can see in this Video. 🎉

The Queue may be quite long sometimes but it does move fast because this is Only for Takeaways. 🛍️ Miyahara do have a Specific Dine-In Restaurant for their Ice-Cream somewhere else, 🤔 but Most People just prefer to come here even just for Takeaway because this is the Original Historical Building after all. 👍
That said, although Only Takeaway, there are a Couple of Stone Structures where you can take a Seat and Slowly Enjoy your Ice-Cream. 🍨 Because the Weather was Sunny 🌞 yet Cooling at around 19C when I went, ❄️ it was actually quite a Nice Feeling to eat Ice-Cream like this without Breaking a Sweat at all. 😋

How to go about Ordering your Ice-Cream
1) Grab an Order Paper located at the Entrance and use it to Decide what you want. 📃 You can take a look at this Order Paper. 📷 Very Simple System.
a) 🍨 Order Number of Scoops and Flavour you want.
b) 🍨 Choose Waffle or Sundae
c) 🍨 Choose your Free Topping

2) When you've decided, go join in the Queue where the Ice-Cream Tubs are located. 😋
This is where you can also take a look at what the Flavours actually look like. 😋 Tell the Counter what you want and Pay. 💵 You will receive a Queue Number.

3) Once your Q-Number is shown on the LCD Screen, go towards the Separate Toppings Area, give them your Q-Number and tell them what Toppings you want and finally Collect your Ice-Cream. 🍨😋
Because I queued at a Time where there were a Rare Zero Queue, it took only 3 Mins from Queue to Collecting my Ice Cream. 🕑 The Whole Process is Fast and Efficient for my Case. 👍

🍨 Salted Caramel Flavour Ice-Cream
Ordered this because this is Considered one of their Signature that also doesn't Cost Extra. 👍 Although only 1 Scoop, I thought it was a Relatively Large Scoop. 👍 Drizzled Beautifully with Honey, the Caramel Taste is Neither Overly Strong nor Overly Sweet. 😋
Soft and Creamy, this tastes like its Freshly Handmade, not some Pre-Made Factory Frozen Product. 😋 There is a Very Slight Saltiness that is also Not Overly Salty. Very Nice Tasting. ♥️

🍨 The Waffle Cup
Has a Nice Crunchy Biscuity Taste and is Slightly Sweet but Not Overly So. 😋 If you've eaten such Waffle Cups before, it tastes exactly how you'd imagine it to taste.
I do recommend to choose this because for just an Extra TWD10 (S$0.40) it was quite a Large One and you can use it to eat your Ice-Cream like an Edible Crunchy Biscuit Spoon. 🍨 Delicious! 😋
🍨 Nut-Hugging Bear Cookie (Free Topping)
Chose this simply because its so Adorable Cute no? 🧸♥️ Its a Good Tasting Butter Cookie with an Almond Nut. 🍪
Although not the Super Buttery Danish Type, it was still Good Tasting. Bite Texture had a Slight Firm Bite and Pairs very Well with this Salted Caramel. 😋 This Topping felt worth the Money because it is a Full Biscuit compared to some Cheap Sprinkles. 👍

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts
At a Total Combined Price of TWD120 (S$4.90) for a 1 Scoop Ice-Cream 🍨 with a Waffle Bowl and 1 Topping is Not Exactly Cheap, 🤔 but I feel it is reasonable because it does taste Delicious. 😋 Now I'm not a Ice-Cream Connoiseur and I really shouldn't be eating this due to my Condition but I still enjoyed it as an Occasional Treat. 🍨😅
The Only Regret I have is that I should have totally chosen a Different Coloured Flavour for my Ice Cream or Topping because all the Items I chosen 🍨 (Ice Cream + Waffle Cup + Topping) are a Uniform Beige Colour, not as nice looking to post on Social Media! Hahaha! 🍨😅

If I have to be Completely Honest, this Place is Obviously more Touristy but then again, when you're Overseas, just be a Tourist. 😄🎉 Not Everything must Die Die get Every Single Cent worth out of your Purchase. Live a Little! ♥️ This Place itself has Significant Historical Value so there's that too. The Staffs are Professional, Friendly and Polite and I have no issues with the Customer Service at all. 👍
Personally for me, I love this place just because of the Harry Potter Hogwarts Vibe it gave me. 🧙♂️🧙♀️🪄 Really Beautiful Place. The Main Building Interior really looks so much like Hogwarts that I reckon you were to take a Selfie in here and post on your Social Media, people might actually believe that you actually went to Hogwarts itself! 😅🪄
