豬血糕 or Pig Blood Pudding 🐷🩸 is a Classic Unique Taiwanese Street Snack that is Very Popular and Commonly Seen especially in Night Markets that I've personally not tasted before. 🤔

So as I was exploring around, I came across this Very Small Stall run by 2 Adorable Friendly 大姐. 👩👩 This Brand 豬大郎 itself seems to be a Franchise Chain as I've seen this Brand quite frequently all over Taiwan. 🤔

Really Small Place for this one I'm at, there is 1 Makeshift Table that you can sit down to Dine-In although Most People will order this for Takeaway. 🛍️ When you order this, you get a Choice of Spicy or Non-Spicy. 🌶️ She'll make it on the Spot and I got mine very quickly in about a Minute.

豬血糕 Pig Blood Pudding (Non Spicy) = TWD40 Each

This is a Very Long, and Fairly Heavy Kueh on a Skewer. 🍡 The Main Flesh is a Long Slab of Black-Coloured Kueh likely made of Coagulated Pig Blood 🐷🩸 that is coated with a Sweet Sticky Sauce 🍯 and Covered with Copious Amounts of Peanut Powder 🥜 and Coriander. 🌿

The Black Coloured Pig Blood Kueh completely doesn't taste Bloody at all. 🙅‍♂️ Not even a Hint of Pig Blood. 🤔 In fact, I thought it had the Bite Texture and Taste of a Firmer Mua Chee. 🍡🤔

The Sweet and Sticky Sauce coated on it tastes Very Similar to our Singapore Malaysia Style of Rojak Sauce.
🍯🤔

The Sweetness of this Sauce is Quite Elevated and forms the Main Core Taste Profile of this Dish with the Peanut Powder 🥜 providing an Additional Layer of Peanut Taste and Texture. Occasionally, the Coriander 🌿 shoots through as an Aftertaste.

Try to Imagine of Firm Texture Black Coloured Mua Chee 🍡 coated with Sweet Rojak Sauce 🍯 together with Peanut Powder 🥜 and some Coriander 🌿 and you'll get a General Idea of how this tastes like. 🤔

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts

At the Price of TWD40 (S$1.70), this was an Affordable Price to get a Skewer that is So Long and Actually Fairly Heavy. 🍡  This was a Thick Amount of Kueh you're getting. 👍

Personally, I was quite surprised to find that this is such a Sweet Tasting Dish as I thought this would probably taste More Savoury. 🤔 Despite how Dark the Kueh looked, there is Not a Single Trace of Pig Blood 🐷🩸 that I tasted. Heck, it so doesn't taste anything like a Pig Blood that I'm wondering if this is even made of Pig Blood like what its name suggests? 🤔 Or is the Name just given for Fun? Taiwanese do give Adorable Names for their Foods after all. 😅

I wish I ordered the Spicy Version though. 🌶️ The Mix of Sweet and Spicy would probably have been a More Interesting Complex Taste Mix instead of just the Flat Sweetness like this. 🤔
This is really Much More like a Sweet Kueh Dessert. 🍡🤔 The More I ate this, the More I felt this had a very 古早味 Taste and tasted like something that was probably first made in the 1950s or 1960s passed down to the Present Day. 🤔 Especially with the Unique Combination of Peanut Powder 🥜 and Coriander 🌿 Mixed like this.

I can totally imagine a Child of the 1950s or 1960s buying a Skewer of this 🍡 and sitting down on the Floor together with other Children at some Old Street Fair paying 10 cents to listen to an Old Man 👴 telling Old Stories for Entertainment while munching on this. 🍡😋 Hahaha, I dunno lah, I just got this sort of Old-School 古早味 Vibe when eating this. 😅

Due to its Elevated Sweet Taste, I couldn't eat too much of it. 🍬🙅‍♂️ If you are someone who is watching your Sugar Level, you might want to take note that this really tasted Sweet. 🍬 Not Super Sickeningly Sweet Type but definitely Sweet due to that very Familiar Tasting Sweet Rojak Sauce. 🍯
Interesting Dish, but not something I would try again tbh. 🤔 Don't let my Average Score deter you from this though. 😅 There is nothing wrong with this Eatery, the 2 Adorable 大姐 👩👩 running this Eatery is Very Friendly and Welcoming. 😄

豬血糕 is also a Common Popular Taiwanese Dish so you don't really have to come here specifically to try. 🤔 Although an Interesting Dish with a Unique Culinary Style to it and probably with a Rich History behind it, I'm just personally not a Fan of it thats all. 🤔
