This was an Eatery that started back in Nov 2024 and I was invited by the Owner to do a Collaboration. 🤝 I Politely Rejected the Offer of course for the sake of Review Transparency and Fairness. ⚖️

It has since been almost a Year since they started their Business, so I felt its the Right Time to pay them a Surprise Anonymous Visit. 🤔 So here we are.

Because the Owner specifically invited me to Collab, I thought I'd give this Place Extra Focus with a Deeper More In-Depth Review. 🤔 This Review will also be a Sort of Feedback to him too

Interior of the Eatery

The Actual Eatery is an Air-Conditioned Cafe although it wasn't really Cold when I was there. 🤔 Adorably Renovated to Mimic a Chinese Oriental sort of Look complete with Faux China-Styled of Bamboo Window Panes on their Walls. 🛕 There is even a Nice Little Area meant for Instagram Flair. 📸

Cleanly Maintained, the Background Music were Mostly Soothing Piano Instrumentals of Popular Chinese Pop Songs 🎵🎶 although there were some Songs where I thought the Pianist Aggressively play until like Very Stressful like that. 🎵🎶😅
Although the Name of this Eatery suggests its a Desserts Place, they do provide Main Meals 主食 too as you can see in their Menu. 🍽️

Although not a Full House Situation, there were Quite Alot of Customers within and seems quite Popular at around 1.00pm Noon on a Friday Afternoon. 👍 I also noticed that they are going to Expand a New Branch into Johor Kulai 古来 too. 🤔 Not Bad Progress within 1 Year. I guess my Wish to him for 生意新荣 went quite well! 😅

Customer Service Quality of the Staffs

The Place was staffed by 2 Front Counter Staffs, a Chinese Guy 🤵‍♂️and a Young Malay Lady. 🙋‍♀️ Other than these 2 Staffs, there was probably 1 more person in the Back Kitchen whom I did not see. 🤔
One Thing I noticed is that they are Quite Short-Staffed because as the Level of Customers increased, there was Lapse in Customer Service Level as you will read on. 🤔

The Young Malay Lady Staff was Very Friendly and Polite and had a Sweet Smile. 🙋‍♀️😄 The Chinese Guy looks like a Supervisor? He was Polite but he never Smiled as I observed. 🤵‍♂️🤔 Always with a Stoic Straight Face as I closely observed him, he looked Stressed with alot of Work to do. Not sure if this is the Owner himself? 🤔 His Customer Service was Basic Acceptable, but I wish he at least smiled a little being a Front Customer Facing Staff as he is. 🤔

Slight Service Lapse faced and a Small Technical Issue in the QR Menu.

There was a Slight Confusion as to whether Ordering of Food is thru QR Code or directly from them. 🤔 I got the Impression that I could read the Menu, Press the Call Button on the Table and then order directly. 🛎️
And yet, when I pressed the Call Button on the Table at 1.12pm (2 Times I think?) on a Friday Afternoon, No One Responded as the 2 Front Staffs were busy running about all over the Place. 🤔

Seeing this, I resorted to use QR Code Menu to order instead. 🤔 Here is where I faced a Minor Issue when submitting my Order. The Submission will be stuck at a "Waiting to Accept" Screen and I wasn't sure if my Order was successfully submitted or not. 😅 Luckily I did still receive my Food Items but I thought I'd highlight this in this Review lest you also face the Same thing if you were to visit this place.

Despite the Minor Issues I faced above, I was Impressed when I was served a Free Glass of Plain Water as soon as I took my Seat. 🥤👍
This was Very Much Appreciated since it was a Hot Day. 🌞🥵 Kudos to them, this Free Glass of Plain Water was Very Welcome. 🥤👍 Not Many JB Eateries actually bother to do this, not even the More Atas-Level Ones. 😅

Anyway, it took 2 Mins for the Signature Pistachio Paste and 3 Mins for the Soybean Snow Ice. Everything was served up within 3 Mins which was Not Bad Timing considering the Elevated Level of Customers when I was there. 👍

🥣 P01 Signature Pistachio Paste = RM17.90

This is the Main Signature 招牌菜 of this Place. 🤔 I noticed in Older Photos on Google Maps back in Nov 2024, this was a Weekend-Only Item. Now its Available Everyday. 👍 One of the Most Reviewed and Discussed Item, some people Love it, while others find it just So So. 🤔

The Dish itself is served in a Faux Japanese Styled Looking Tray and comes in a Standard Chinese Bowl. 🥣 The Whole Thing is a Uniform Beautiful Green Paste topped with what looks like Shallot Pieces that is Served Warm. 👍

Upon my First Taste, I don't know why but I immediately thought of Quaker Cooked Oatmeal 麦片. 🌾😅 You know that Oatmeal Gruel that you take from a Tin and Cook with Hot Water? 🌾🥣 Exactly the Same Taste. I do like that its Very Lightly Sweet and not Overly Sweet.

But therein lies the Issue. 🤔 I thought this tasted so much like a Quaker Cooked Oatmeal, that I almost forgot that this is meant to be a Pistachio Paste actually. 😅 It was only when I remembered that this is a Pistachio Paste did I only find a Very Subtle Taste for it. Very Very Light in Pistachio, I totally get why some people find this to be Only So So in taste. 🥣🤔

I do like its Overall Texture though. 👍 Smooth and Creamy and those bits what I thought was Shallots were actually little Crushed Pieces of some sort of Nut that added a Welcome Crunch amidst the Soft Creaminess of Everything. 🥜😋 Although I thought it would be interesting if they did add Shallot Oil though.

🍧 S12 Soybean Snow Ice = RM17.90

I ordered this Item based on a Google Reviewer who highly recommended it. Beautifully Presented in a Faux Japanese tray, this is Of Course a Sort of Korean-Styled Bingsu Shaved Ice Dessert. 🇰🇷🍧

The Dessert comes with:

🫘 A Generous Amount of Red Bean
🍡 Generous pieces of Taro Mochi?
🍡 Generous Amount of some White Balls
🍧 A Tall Bingsu Shaved Ice of course

The Google Reviewer was right, this Main Bingsu Shaved Ice is made out of a Not-So-Sweet Tau Hway Soy Milk. 😋 I really like the Delicate Sweetness in this.
Having said that, this Tau Hway isn't like those Rich Gao Gao Beany Homemade Taste. 🤔 It also doesn't taste like its made out of some Cheap Supermarket Package. Overall Pretty Decent Taste for me and I reckon most people will probably also have no issues with it. 👍

The Quality of the Bingsu Shaved Ice itself melts in Mouth Smoothly 100% of Every Bite I took, never once did I ever got any Raw Ice. Indeed Soft as Snow Texture. 🍧😋

The Amount of Red Beans were Generous with Many Scoops of them. They added a Delightful 红豆 Red Beany-ness to the Bingsu. 🫘😋

The Big Taro Mochi were also Generous and they provided the Chewiness for the Dish. 🍡😋
The White Ball Thing was also Plentiful. I think they're also some sort of Mochi? Just like the Big Taro Mochi they also have a Chewy Texture. 🍡

-----------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion and Closing Thoughts

At the Price of RM17.90 (S$5.60) doesn't feel cheap for this Bowl of Pistachio Paste. I totally get why this Dish is so Divisive on Google Map Reviews. 🥣🤔
If you are expecting a Very Gao Gao Pistachio Taste, you will probably be disappointed because this is not it. 🥣🙅‍♂️ To me, this really tasted more like a Cooked Oatmeal 麦片 with the Pistachio Taste being Very Subtle. 🌾😅 In fact, its so subtle that if I didn't purposely think about it, I would have actually forgotten this is supposed to be a Pistachio Paste in the First Place. 😅

Having said that, if you take the Dish as it is, I thought it was Decently Made. The Texture is beaten until Very Smooth with Zero Grittiness and the Little Nut Pieces added a Welcome Crunch Texture. 🥣😋 But at the End of the Day, this tasted more like a Oatmeal that has a Slight Pistachio Aftertaste, and not a Very Gao Gao Pistachio Paste. 🌾🥣 Perhaps renaming it as a "Pistachio Oatmeal" would be more appropriate? 😅

At the Same Price of RM17.90 (S$5.60) for the Soybean Snow Ice is also Not Very Cheap. 🍧🤔 This is basically a Korean-Styled Snow Bingsu Dessert.
The Google Reviewer was Right though, this was Not Bad. 👍 I liked the Refreshing Creamy Taste of the Delicately Sweet Tau Hway Bingsu that melted in my Mouth. 🍧😋

I am impressed with the Generous Amount of Fillings especially the Red Bean which added alot to the Taste. 🫘😋 I thought 2 Mochis were abit Much though. 🍡😅 The Big Taro Mochi was ok as it contributed with its Colour and Chewiness. The Smaller White Ball Mochi I thought could be substituted with something of a Different Bite Texture perhaps Sago? 🤔 But of course Price becomes a Factor if it were to be changed. 💵
Overall I like this Bingsu and easily finished it off. 🍧😋 If you are someone who enjoy Tau Hway ⬜ and Red Bean, 🫘 you are probably also going to like them in this Bingsu form. 口口豆奶,口口红豆,口口Mochi 黏黏 very nice. 😋

These 2 Dishes actually paired with each other Very Well. 👍 The Yang of the Warm Pistachio Paste (Oatmeal) 🌾🥣 together with the Yin of the Cold Soybean Bingsu 🍧 was quite a Delicious Treat especially when both of them were Not Overly Sweet.

Overall, I'm satisfied with this Place. It was Nicely Renovated and Staffs Customer Service was Acceptable 👍 although I hope the Chinese Guy can smile abit more though given that he is a Front Customer Facing Staff. 🤵‍♂️🤔 I do like that as I sat there after my Meal, there were No Rush to keep my Plates, 👍 although of course I left soon after eating without hogging seats for Hours on End lah. 😅

There were Several Service Lapses as I mentioned in the Main Review which was a Tad Alarming given that this was a Friday Weekday when I visited, 🤔 so expect Degraded Service if you are visiting this on a Weekend. 🤔
Overall not really a Die Die Must Come Place for me. 🤔 If you are Nearby the Area and are Ok with the Prices on the Menu, I can still recommend this Eatery to give it a Try if you are craving some Desserts maybe or somewhere to just shelter from this Ghastly Tropical Heat. 🌞🥵
