I've always wanted to visit this place ever since I first read about it in Food Blogs. According to JohorKaki, this is JB's only licensed shop that sells Coconut Wine which is also known as Tuak, Air Nira or 椰花酒 amongst other names.
Interestingly, this Beverage was banned in Singapore for some reason, and we all know that Forbidden Fruit always tastes the Sweetest no? The place looks very unique. Its a very dilapidated building that is located amongst some very modern looking malls and really looks frozen in time and extremely out of place.
Stepping inside, the Interior looks like some Super Old 1950s Shophouse that looks so Old-School, its practically Medieval. There is a Restroom located right at the back and the last time I saw such a Rustic Looking Restroom in Singapore was maybe when I was a wee little lad 40 years ago. Just look at the photos i've taken to get an idea of what i'm describing.

The Owner himself is a somewhat Elderly Indian Chap, isn't Overly Friendly or a Chatty type, but also Not Hostile. There weren't much Customers around and are mostly a Couple of Elderly Men drinking quietly and keeping to themselves. The Whole Place has a very 世外桃源 type of feel. Just a very Spartan and Simple Chill place to sit down and get away from the Stress of Modern Life.
They don't sell anything else other than this Drink and I've seen some customers dapao small finger foods from outside to bring to this place to eat while drinking. The Owner didn't seem to mind. He's Chill that way.

Now on to the Star of the Show, the Actual Coconut Wine itself.
Please bear with me as I try to describe this as best as I can.
The Drink totally looks like Barley Water and is served at Room Temperature, which is somewhat unusual for an Alcoholic Drink. When you first taste it, it is Sweet, and it's a very Slight Siap Siap type of Sweet. When I say Sweet, I really mean it.
This really is a Sweet Drink, not figuratively, but literally Sweet. In addition, there will be a Slight Fizziness that will playfully tease you on your Tongue.
As you drink it in, it is VERY SMOOTH, doesn't taste Overly Alcoholic although you can absolutely feel it. There will be a very slight flush you will feel on your face. When it's down the gullet, it has a very Subtle and Pleasant Nutty Coconut aftertaste. I've also read that this Drink may be Healthy for you. While I can't be sure if its really Healthy, it sure doesn't feel like it will harm your body like Normal Alcohol.

To be very clear, it is Alcoholic, but I feel its so Elegant a Drink that Ladies will also enjoy this. I'm not kidding when I say this actually tastes good. I had originally wanted to just order 1 Mug to try, but it tasted so good, I actually ordered a 2nd Mug. Amazing!
Having said all that, you must be a "Rubbish Eat, Rubbish Grow" type of person to enjoy this place and this drink. Because as you can see in my below photo, I found LITTLE DEAD ANTS floating in my Mug.
So if you are the Squeamish type that absolutely cannot stand even a little bit of Unhygenic-ness in your Food or Drink, I do not recommend you to drink this. The Ants are another indicator of how sweet this drink is.

As this is the only Coconut Wine Shop in JB and seeing that the Owner himself is already Elderly, I suspect once he is gone, this place might be lost forever. So don't miss out the opportunity to try this while you still have the chance.
THIS is the type of place that I love most about JB. The type of Unique place that you can find nowhere else. Bravo JB, Bravo. As Always, Drink in Moderation, and Enjoy Responsibly. Cheers!
