These are In-Flight Meal Packages offered by AirAsia (As of August 2024). You can order them ala-carte while on Flight, or get them as a Bundle Flight Package. Depending on your order, it may come with a very small 250ml Bottle of Plain Water.
I'm not sure how often AirAsia changes their Menu but I've seen some reviews as far back as 2018 so I guess they have mostly kept to the same? Being In-Flight Meals, they are not cheap by any means, but when you're hungry 30,000ft in the air, these are the only options available if you adhere to their No Outside Food Policy.

Served Very Hot, the Smell of Black Pepper is Very Prominent. Comes with 5 Bite Sized Pieces of Chicken, ๐3 Pieces of Potato, ๐ฅ a Few Stalks of Cauliflower, Broccoli ๐ฅฆ and 2 Pieces of Carrot. ๐ฅ

Black Pepper Sauce is Surprisingly Thick and Robust, ๐ฏ Black Pepper Taste is Gao Gao and Slightly Salty. Not Overly Overpowering although you will Definitely feel its Presence. Has a Slightly Elevated Level of Spiciness although it wont bite your Tongue. Not Bad Tasting actually. ๐ค
The Chicken Pieces were Thighs, Soft and abit Nua to the Bite. ๐๐ค Definitely has a Rethawed Microwave Meat sort of Taste similar to something you'd find in a Convenience Store. Thankfully Meat is not Overly Chickeny but it is Very Oily. ๐ค Not Gourmet Tasting obviously, but also Not Inedible. There is some Marination as its also Slightly Salty. ๐ง
Dipping Chicken Pieces into the Black Pepper Sauce makes it taste much better and takes away most of its Convenience Store Microwave Taste. ๐ค๐
The Potatoes on their own has a Very Nua Nua Bite Texture with a Prominent Potatoey Taste. ๐ฅ๐ค They're Slightly Salted, Not Spicy, and Slightly Oily. Servicable. Again, dipping them in the Sauce improves their Taste. ๐ฏ๐ค
Veggies were Soft and Mushy. ๐ฅฆ๐ค They're not Raw Tasting with abit of Salt. They taste exactly how you would imagine them to taste for a Soft Mushy Veggie.
The Soul of this Dish is really the Black Pepper Sauce which really helped do all the Heavy Lifting. ๐ฏ๐ค Its Presence is so Important that without it, the Whole Dish would have a Very Below Average Nua Nua type of Convenience Store Microwaved Taste. ๐
Is it worth ordering this? Personally I feel their Pak Nasser Nasi Lemak tasted nicer and feels Slightly Fuller. ๐ค But if you want to eat Lesser Carbs and dont mind a More Microwave Nua Nua type of Taste, this is still Servicable. ๐ค Enough to stave off maybe 1-2 hours of hunger.

Served Mildly Hot, not Super Hot. Among the AirAsia Flight Meals that I've tried so far, this is the one that is the Most Visually Presentable amongst all of them. ๐ It comes with 1 Chilli Pack and 1 Black Sauce Pack.
Chilli is Very Mildly Spicy. ๐ถ️๐ค TBH I feel its more Sweetish Vinegary than Spicy. Not at all what you'd expect for a Chilli meant for Chicken Rice. Thats said, I have no issues with it and I think even Children will have no issues with it due to how Non-Spicy it is. ๐ถ️
The Black Sauce tastes like a Mix of Sesame Oil and Light Soy Sauce. ๐ฏ This is Above Average in Saltiness but in a Good Way because the Light Soy Sauce they use has a Good Quality sort of Taste. I actually wont mind buying this Soy Sauce for my Regular Cooking actually. ๐

As for the Main Dish, its basically Roasted Chicken Rice and thankfully does have the Correct ็ง้ธก้ฅญ Roast Chicken Rice type of Aroma. ๐

Rice is Decently Fragrant and smells Correct. ๐ Taste is also Correctly Replicating a More Oilier Roast Chicken Rice. ๐
Obviously not Gourmet Tasting, but at least got a Kopitiam Chicken Rice Stall sort of Taste. It is Saltish but not overly so. Rice Granules Texture has a Overnight Rice type of taste. ๐๐ค Perfectly Servicable, has a Granular Bite Feel, not Niam Niam.
Chicken are all Thigh Meat and comes in 5 Decent Bite-Sized Pieces. ๐ Obviously not Amazing, but I'd say is very Acceptable as a Average Kopitiam Chicken Rice Stall level. Tender to the Bite, Not Super Juicy but Not Dry either. Thankfully Doesn't taste Overly Chickeny. ๐
Without the Chilli and Black Sauce, I feel the Savoury Oil taste of the Rice ๐ takes over most of the profile with a Soft Bite from the Chicken Pieces. ๐
When you do mix in Both Sauces though, the Sourish Element from the Chilli Surprisingly dont really Shoot thru even though it was Prominently Sourish when you just taste the Chilli on its own. ๐ถ️๐ค
The Main Taste Profile of the Dish is still that Savoury Oily Rice Taste this time with a Slight Sourish Tease. ๐๐ค The Black Sauce does increase the Saltiness of the Dish Significantly but Not in a Bad Way. In fact, I thought the Elevated Level of Saltiness opens up the Dish and it becomes even more ๅผๅณ to eat. ๐
Dunno is it because i was Hungry at that time, but the more I ate this, the more I want to eat it. ๐ You know that feeling of being Very Hungry and Jiak Jiak Jiak until you Hiccup? Thats how I felt with this one. Quite Shiok to eat. ๐
This Chicken Rice was the one I was most afraid of because its very easy to screw up a Microwave Type of Chicken Rice ๐๐ค because there is this Fear it may have a Overnight Nua Nua type of Stale Taste or the Chicken Meat too Chickeny. Luckily this was not the case here. It actually tasted quite Decent, like I said, a Average Kopitiam Chicken Rice Stall of Standard. ๐
If you are Not Overly Fussy or Particularly Picky about your Taste for Chicken Rice, or don't want to eat too much Sambal, I can actually recommend to order this. ๐ Its quite an Cute Experience to be enjoying Chicken Rice 30,000 feet in the Air. ๐๐
