If you visit City Square Mall in JB, you will surely have seen this Chinese Confectionary Shop that has Super Long Queues of People as you can see. 😳 I've always wanted to try but because I hate to queue, I never have the chance. 🤔
Protip: When I was there at 9.40pm which was very close to Closing Time (10.00pm), there were Zero Queues. 😄 I am not entirely sure if it is also Zero Queue if you were to reach earlier at say 9.00pm, but yea, 9.40pm Zero Queues and there were still Plenty of Pastries available for Sale too. 👍 So of course I jumped at the chance here! 😄 Ordered 1 of almost every Pastry available for Sale at their Main Display Case and here are my reviews for each of them.
One thing I observed is that the Customer Service of the Staffs here are actually quite good. 👍 There was a very last minute Customer who rushed in at 10.00pm while they were preparing to close and they didn't reject her. 🤔 This Customer was even the indecisive type, as she kept pondering and asking this and that and while I could feel the Frustrations of the Staffs, they didn't show their Frustrations on their Faces as I observed them. 👍
To me, this is very Commendable Service. If you have done Customer Service before, you will surely know how Gek Sim this can be. 😅 You are tired and want to go home, and you can't afford to be angry at an Indecisive Customer (especially Singaporeans who are usually very Easily Hot-Tempered.) 😅 So if you are reading this, and if you want to buy this at near to Closing Time, please spare some thought to the Staffs and don't be the Indecisive Customer type and waste people's time to close shop. 👍
Super Flaky Skin, gives way easily at the slightest bite. 😋 The Lotus Paste within is also Soft to the Bite, Sweetness is very Subtle and Elegant. 😋 I think i detected a very faint presence of Honey in the paste. 🍯
Can feel a Subtle Baked aftertaste after swallowing. Doesn't stick to throat. Beautifully layered and super crumbly, this is a Good Quality Wife Cake that is different from the usual types you normally come across. 👍 I'm not keen on Wife Cake and even I like this.

The Skin Texture for this one taste exactly like a High Quality CNY Pineapple Tart. 🍍🤔 Its caves in easily to your bite and is smooth and crumbly.
Mung Bean filling within is very very subtle and sweetness is also very elegant. 😋 Not very crumbly. Really feels like eating a CNY Pineapple Tart without Pineapple filling. 😋
Although the same size and shape, it is easy to differentiate between this one and its Mung Bean Variation because of its Slight Greenish Hue. Skin Texture is also the same like a High Quality CNY Pineapple Tart. 😋
You can definitely taste the Distinct Pandan taste in this one. Again, the Pandan Taste is not super overpowering, very Subtle. 🌱🤔 Sweetness is also very elegant, not crumbly. If you like the taste of Pandan, you will enjoy this one. 👍
Also known as Siew Pao, this is like a Baked Pastry Version of Char Siew Bao that we are familiar with. 😋 Looks very appetizing with the Dried Char Siew Sauce bursting out of it. 😋
The Char Siew Fillings within are Soft and Sweet and the Savoury Salty Taste pairs nicely with the Beautifully Flaky Skin. 🍖 I haven't tried alot of Siew Paos tbh, so I'm not sure what is special for this one. To me, this tasted like a Regular Siew Pao that I've had. 🤔 If you enjoy Siew Paos, I reckon you will probably like this too.
Skin texture for this one is Crumbly, almost like a CNY Pineapple Tart but not quite with slightly larger crumbs. The Filling Within in a Sticky Gooey Blueberry Jam that is made with Actual Juicy Blueberries Pulp. 🫐😋
Occasionally, you will bite into one and the Bite Texture is like a Raisin. Blueberry taste is quite prominent and is also not Overly Sweet. If are someone who like Blueberries in your Pastry, you will like this one. 🫐👍
This one doesn't seem to have a Chinese Name. 🤔 Just like its name it has Chicken Floss in its filling, and really does have the taste of Tausa (Red Bean Paste) even though visually there aren't any. 🫘🤔
The Filling has a very Subtle Haebee Spiciness in it. Skin is Flaky, but I find this one to taste a little unusual for my preference. 🤔 I don't know why but I felt the Haebee came on abit too Strongly for me in this one. 🦐🤔
The version they sell here resembles a Taiwan-Styled Pineapple Cake. 🇹🇼🍍 Beautifully Crumbly, the Pineapple Filling within has a very Deep Caramelized Sweetness that is again, very Elegant and not Overly Sweet. 😋
The Crumbly Skin also had a slight Saltish Tease to it, and the Aftertaste has a Subtle Roasted Flavour. I love Pineapple Cakes myself and I bought 2 of these and I'm glad I did so, because this is a very High Quality Pineapple Cake. 🍍😋 If you like Pineapple Cakes, this is a Definite Must-Buy. This is also one of the Cheapest item on their Menu.

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts
Other than the Original Tausa Chicken Floss which I didn't really like, I thought the rest of the Pastries I bought tasted very nice and very well made. 😋 There is a common factor amongst all of them, and its that the Flavours for all of them taste very Subtle and is not Overly Sweet at all. 👍 They are all very well made and have a High Quality Taste to them. These are Pastries I would totally buy for my Grandmother to try. ♥️
My Personal Favourite is the Pineapple Cake because I love Pineapple Cakes (who doesn't right?) 🍍😅 I find that the one sold here taste High Quality and has a more Atas Taste. 😋 Its also the Cheapest Item that I bought so Price-Wise makes it more Attractive. 1 Box containing 12 pieces cost RM25.80 (S$7.50) I feel is worth the money for its Quality. 👍
Would I buy the Pastries from here again? Absolutely Yes! 😄 Especially their Pineapple Cake. 🍍😋 But only if I can avoid the Long Queues. This will definitely be my go-to spot to do some Last Minute 乱乱买 Purchase before I go back to Singapore. 😅
