Because Paradigm Mall is not open until 10.00am, I figured I'd look for an Eatery for Breakfast since I always enter JB at an Early Time. 🌞 Stumbled across this place as I was exploring and since it has been quite awhile since I've eaten Roti Canai in JB, I figured why not give this a Try. 😋

This Eatery is just one of many that are situated in this Food Street. 🤔 There were a Few Eateries open in the Morning, although it looks like its more of a Supper Place. No Idea what name this Food Street is called, but I will definitely be re-visiting this in the Future! 😄
Interior of the Eatery.

The Actual Eatery itself is a Classic Warung. 👍 Its Not Air-conditioned of course, rather Warm and Humid actually. 🥵 I love the Popular 热闹人气 feel and the 马来风味 Atmosphere that it has. ❤️
As you can see in my Photos, its very Popular with the Local Folks. 👍 This place gives me the feeling that it has been around for many years already.

Being the Only Chinese Person there, of course its slightly Socially Awkward, 😅 but the Staffs here are Friendly and Welcoming in a Quiet Reserved Way. 👍 Still Really Friendly though. Check out the Thumbs Up on that Adorable Kakak (Big Sister)!
😄👍 I'm glad they could understand my attempts at speaking Non-Fluent Malay to order food. 😅 It took 1 Min for the Kopi-O-Kosong, and the rest of the Dishes were all served up in 4 Mins. Everything was up within 4 Mins.

Kopi-O-Kosong = RM1.20

This is one of the Most Affordable Priced Kopi-O-Kosong that I've encountered so far in JB. ☕

That said, unfortunately I thought it tasted Diluted. 🤔 Its not Undrinkable, but its definitely Diluted. Perhaps it was an Unlucky Bad Brew that day. 😅

Roti Canai Kosong = RM1.50
Roti Telur Bawang = RM3.00

Roti Canai is what Malaysia calls Roti Prata. Same Dish, Different Name. 😋
In Addition, Malaysia serves theirs with Sambal 🌶️ which is something that is slightly more Rare in Singapore.

Quality of the Sambal

When it comes to Sambal with its Intricacies and Complexities, 🌶️ of course no one has a Better and Deeper Understanding of it than our Malay Community and this is No Exception. 👍
The one here is more Liquidy in Texture with Slight Bits of Grittiness. 🌶️ It's the Sweet Type that is probably meant to Pair more with Nasi Lemak. What is impressive is the Initial Very Fierce Assault of Power Spiciness 🔥 that will hit you fast and hard, but will slowly calm down but still form a Lingering Heat in your Mouth. 🌶️

This is a Very Good Quality Complex Level of Sambal, but it is also one of the Sweetest I've tasted so far in JB. 🤔 I've personally cooked Sambal myself and I can confirm that ALOT of Sugar is used in the making of this. 🤔 If you are someone who needs to watch your Blood Sugar like I am, I would recommend to take it easy with this and not spam it all over your Plate if you can help it.

Quality of the Curry

This Curry looks like a Dhall, but its actually a Curry. 🥘 I think its a Kambing (Mutton) Curry. 🐐 Texture is Liquidy. What I like is this "Smooth Gentleness" in which the Muttonness is not too Prominent. Not the Very Gao Gao Type and also Not Too Bland. Spiciness is Very Mild for this one.

Finally we come to the Actual Main Star of the Show

Google Reviewers are right. The Roti Canais here are Noticeably Oily. 🤔 They're not Dripping with Oil, but there is definitely a Sheen of Oil on top when its first served up.
Having said that, having this Sheen of Oil also shows that this Roti Canai is FRESHLY served up Super Piping Hot literally Off the Grill. 🔥

Because its so FRESH off the Grill, this is one of the Crispier Roti Canais I've eaten in JB so far. 😋 What you will get, as Google Reviewers also describe is a "Outside Crispy, Inside Soft" sort of Texture. 😋 I can confirm that this is Exactly as how its being Described. 👍 There is a Very Delicious 油香味 that Permeates the Whole Thing that will immediately perk up your Appetite for it. 😋

Roti Canai Kosong = RM1.50

The Kosong Version of it at its Most Basic Default Form is Solid. 👍 I especially love that its NEVER Doughy. You will never taste any Dough Taste for this one. 😋
Like I said, Outside Crispy, Inside Soft. Mixing this to eat with Sambal 🌶️ + Curry 🥘 is Power Sedap to the Max. 又脆又软又辣, 吃的几爽一下. 😋

Roti Telur Bawang = RM3.00

Telur Bawang means Eggs 🥚 + Onions. 🧅 I though this one looked like a Mini Murtabak. Although also with a Crispy Exterior, I feel this one has a Tad Softer Texture compared to their Kosong.

The Filling within were filled Generously with Onion Slices. 🧅 Not alot of Egg actually compared to other Telur I've eaten in other Places. 🤔 The Soft Onion Slices form the Core Taste Profile of this one. Sweetish Onioney. 😋 Eating this also reminds me of eating Roti John but in a Roti Canai form for some reason is how I'd describe how this taste like. 🤔

-------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion and Closing Thoughts

At the Price of RM1.20 (S$0.40), this may be the Most Affordable Cup of Kopi-O-Kosong that I've ever drank so far in JB. ☕

Unfortunately, it was also Diluted. 🤔 Like I mentioned in the Main Review, its not Undrinkable but its Not Worth the Money to order. 🙅‍♂️ Perhaps I was unlucky to get a Bad Brew that day? 😅 Kopi is not a Strength in this Eatery at least from the Quality of this Cup.

At the Price of RM1.50 (S$0.50) is definitely worth it for their Basic Kosong Version. 👍
Roti aside, both their Sambal 🌶️ and Curry 🥘 are Very Decent. Especially their Sambal is Good, but do note that it is also one of the Sweetest Sambal I've eaten so far. 🤔 Alot of Sugar is used in the Making of this so do take care not to Spam the Sambal 🙅‍♂️ if you are someone who needs to watch your Blood Sugar.

The Roti Canai itself is a Highlight of this Place. 👍 Its FRESHLY Grilled off the Plate Piping Hot, 🔥 although it is also Noticeably Oily. This is not the sort of Soft Soft Fluffy 软绵绵 Pillowy soft type of "Use hand to Slam Slam Slam" type of Roti Canai. It is a Outside Crispy, Inside Soft type of Roti Canai as Google Reviewers have described. 😋 If this is the type that you prefer, I feel you will enjoy this. Delicious. 😋

At the Price of RM3.00 (S$1.00) is twice the Price of the Kosong, 🤔 but you are also getting a Generous Amount of Filling especially Onion Slices. 🧅
The Taste of Egg is not alot, 🥚 so don't expect this to be Very Eggy Tasting. 🤔 Onion forms the Core Taste Profile for this one and there is so Much Onion, I felt like I was eating a Roti John in a Roti Canai Form for some reason. 😅 Texture for this one is still Crispy, but not as Crispy as their Kosong Version. It leans more towards a Softer Bite due to the Amount of Onions they put in this. 🧅
Overall, this was a Malay Warung that serves Very Decent Quality Roti Canai. 👍 Very Popular Place even among the Locals. It's a Friendly and Welcoming Eatery and I enjoyed my time here. 😄 In fact I enjoyed their Roti Canai so much, I reached out to them to give my Compliments and Thumbs Up. 👍 Sedap! They appreciated the Gesture. 😊

Enjoyable DIning Experience and I am also fascinated with this Food Street where this Eatery is Located. 👍 No Idea what this Area is called, but I'll be sure to mark this place for my Future Re-Visit and Explorations! 😄
