Location of this Eatery

This Place is located Very Near to Paradigm Mall.
In fact its so near to the Mall, its literally just right across the Road Highway. 🛣️ That said, for your Safety, I highly recommend DO NOT to attempt to jaywalk because its a Very Heavy Traffic Road. 🙅‍♂️

Instead, lookout for a "Car Bridge" that is available. 🌉 You can see how it looks like in the Below Photo. Although it looks like its only meant for Cars, there is a Dedicated Footpath Built for Pedestrian for you to be able to cross over safely. 🚶

Of course if you have any Mobility Issues, I would recommend to take Grab instead which I did when I initially didn't realize about the Pedestrian Footpath. 😅
If you want take Grab here, 🚗 the name of this place is actually called "Tampoi Indah Seafood Restaurant" on Grab's Map as you can see on my Attached Screenshot.

Interior of the Eatery

Credits to Tejs Ngo from my Former FB Group for recommending this Eatery.
The Actual Place is actually an Old School Kopitiam that looks like it has been around for many years. 🤔 Non-Airconditioned, but looks relatively Popular as you can see in my Attached Video taken at around 5.00pm on a Friday Evening. This feels like an Optimal Timing to come to this Place, Not Overly Crowded nor Overly 冷清清. 👍

There are actually Several Food Stalls within (About 11 in Total) and I've taken photos of Every Stall for you to get an idea what is available here. 📷 This may be the Most Comprehensive Photo Collection of ALL the Food Stalls in this Place available Online. 👍

One particular thing you need to take note however is that this Kopitiam is Open for Smoking Everywhere, 🚬 or at least Not Fully Enforced. 🤔 So don't be surprised if you see a Fellow Patron just light up within right next to you while eating. 🚬 You might want to take note of this if this is an Issue for you. 🤔
The Food Stall I'm focusing on in this Review of course the Main Anchor Tenant Zi Char Stall.

The Zi Char Stall itself.

Just like a Typical Kopitiam Zi Char Stall, you'll have a Staff walk up to you with a Menu when you get seated. 📝 You can refer to the Photo Collection of the Full Menu Booklet that I've taken. 📷 Prices feel reasonably affordable.
The Stall itself is manned with a Mix of Foreign Myanmar? Bangladeshi? and Locals. As I observed them, they weren't Very Super Friendly and Welcoming, but were Decently Polite enough.

Being a Solo Diner of course I can't order many Dishes, 😅 so I only picked some Classic Tze Char Dishes to test and review. Tejs Ngo also specifically mentioned "Herbal Soups" for this Place 🍲 but from the Menu at least, I'm not able to find any Herbal Soups he mentioned. 🤔 I've also scoured thru the Other Food Stalls in this Kopitiam but there weren't any Food Stalls dedicated to Soups. 🤔 So for Soups, I just looked thru the Menu and Eeeny Meeny Miney Moe Randomly chose one for this Review. 😅

It took 4 Mins for both the Pai Kuat Wong and Sambal Kangkong to be served up together and 7 Mins for the Soup. It took a Total of 7 Mins in Total for Everything to be up.

🥤 Teh-O-Kosong (Ice) = RM2.60

Of course this was ordered from the Kopitiam Drink Stall. I thought it came in a Noticeably Smaller than Usual Cup. 🤔 Basic and Decent Tasting, Not Very Gao Gao, but also Not Dilluted.

🐷 Pork Ribs King (Small) = RM21.00

Ah yes, the Classic Zi Char Styled 排骨王. 😋 Beautifully Presented on a Large Lettuce Slice, 🥬 the Whole Dish was Bright and Vibrantly Pleasing to the Eye. 👍 There is also a Delicious and Appetizing Classic Aroma of 排骨王 that you'd be very familiar with. 😋
For the Small that I ordered, there are 8 Relatively Large Pieces. 🐷 This PKW Sauce is not Overly Sweet. It's that type of Taste whereby One Taste you will know Ho Jiak type of taste, not a Half Baked Dull Effort. Elevated Sweet Level but not Overly Sweet. 👍

The Meat themselves are Thick and Fleshy without any Bones. 🍖 Having said that this is not the 脆皮 type of PKW that I've eaten in other Zi Char Eateries. 🤔 Bite Texture is Soft and Meaty with lots of that Zhup. I do like that the Batter covering this Meat is not Overly Thick. 👍 Most of this Meat is Actual Meat, not Batter Padding as you can see in the Cross Section Photo I've taken.

Well Velveted, Tender, Juicy and Not at all Porky. 👍 In fact its so Tender, I hardly even tasted any Meat Fiber in this. 😋 That said, I also wouldn't call this a Very Amazing Must-Eat PKW, but it is Decent.

🥬 Sambal Kangkong (Small) = RM11.00

Another Very Classic Zi Char Dish, I always love it when they usually call this 马来风光 in Zi Char Stalls. 😅 Amount given is Decently Acceptable for the Small I ordered, feels like just nice for 2 People to Enjoy.
This is the Wet Wet type of Sambal Kangkong that is Thankfully Not Overly Oily. 👍 The Sambal for this is Not Overly Spicy. 🌶️ I thought the Spiciness is rather Mild actually. 🤔 Also not those Very Gao Gao Haebee Taste type. Salty but not Overly So.

Overall, I would consider this to be Standard Average Sambal Kangkong, maybe even Below Average for some people. 🤔 But its not Inedible. At least the Veggies aren't those Terrible Slimy Slimy type that I've encountered before. 😅

🍲 Bittergourd Beancurd Soup (Small) = RM10.00

I'll be honest, I ordered this only because of its Price. 😅 I wanted to test how much Value I can get for RM10.00 and originally didn't really hold too much expectations for this, but I'm glad to say that I struck Jackpot for this. 🌟😳
For one thing, it came in a Generous Big Bowl that looks like its chocked Full of Ingredients. 👍 Of course I dissected everything closely to take a look.

For this Small Size, you get:
🥒 Many Slices of Bittergourd
🐷 Many Small Scrap Pieces of Pork
🍥 Many Slices of Fishcake
🟧 Several Soft Tofu Pieces
🌽 Several Small Cuts of Baby Corn
🍄 A Few Button Mushrooms
🦐 1 Prawn

🍲 Quality of the Soup

This is First and Foremost an Egg Drop Soup at its Base. 🥚🍲 I'm impressed with the Amount of 蛋花 that is incorporated in it. Every Scoop is Full of Egg 口口有蛋. 👍 The Taste has a Noticeable Presence of Ginger. 🫚 Not Overly Salty, Hot and Hearty with hardly any MSG added, 👍 the Amount given feels like it will fill 2 People Nicely.

I won't describe every ingredient here, because they taste exactly like how you'd imagine them to be if you have ever tasted such Zi Char Type of Soup. 😅 Nothing Very Elite or Super Amazing but you do get a Bit of Everything in Every Scoop. 👍 Amount of Ingredients given are so Generous that whenever you scoop it, you will surely get something inside. 😄

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts

At the Price of RM2.60 (S$0.80) for this 🥤 Teh-O-Kosong from the Drinks Stall, I thought it came in a Noticeably Smaller Cup. 🤔 Quality was Average Acceptable, not Super Gao Gao but also not Diluted. Nothing Particularly Wrong, but also Nothing Particularly Special.

At the Price of RM21.00 (S$6.50) for this Plate of Pai Kuat Wong 🐷 was Affordable compared to Singapore Zi Char Prices. 🤔 Amount of Meat given is Acceptable and I liked that there are No Tricks to have a Thicker Batter. 👍 The Meat Piece really is Thick, Fleshy and Juicy. 😋

That said though, this also isn't a Very Super Amazing Level of PKW. 🤔 Its not those 脆皮 Batter type that I prefer. Bite Texture is more on the Softer Type. Decent can try, but Not a Must Order.

At the Price of RM11.00 (S$3.40) for this Plate of Sambal Kangkong 🥬 again is Affordable, but again I don't consider this as Very Amazing. I like mine to be the Very Spicy, 🌶️ Drier Type with Very Gao Gao Haebee-ness and this is not it. 🤔

For me this is Average, for some people may even consider this to be Below Average. 🤔 But its not Inedible. This is Very Basic Standard Zi Char level of Sambal Kangkong good enough to 配饭 but that's it.

At the Price of RM10.00 (S$3.10) for this Soup 🍲 was the one that surprised me most because I had originally thought they would use all sorts of Tricks to Scrimp which is absolutely not the Case here. 😳
What I got instead was a Very Decent Tasting Egg-Drop Soup that was competently made. 👍 I'm more impressed with the Amount and Variety of Ingredients that were chucked in this. 🤔

Sure, you're not gonna get any Premium Ingredients here, and most of the items like the Pork Slices are probably Off-Cuts Scraps 😅 but the Amount given really does feel More than Fair at this Price they are Charging. 👍
The Soup itself isn't some Award Winning Michelin Standard Die Die Must Order type of Dish, 😅 but it is Decent Quality. It is really the Price that pushes this over the top for me and being that it was just a Random Tikam Tikam Choice I made among their Soups, I felt I scored a Jackpot here in terms of Value. 😅

Overall, based on the Quality of the Dishes I ordered, you need to have Realistic Expectation that this isn't a Super Amazing, Top Quality Michelin Awarded Die Die Must Eat sort of Zi Char Place. 😅 What it is in actuality is a Relatively Affordable, Decent Enough Quality Local Zi Char Place that won't hurt your Wallet for a Simple and Humble Family Dinner Night Out after some Shopping in Paradigm Mall. 🍽️

Of all the Dishes I ordered, I felt the Soup was the one that offered the Most Value for Money 🍲 because of the Variety and Amount of Ingredient that was given. 👍 The Price of RM10.00 (S$3.10) for this Soup that can comfortably feed 2 People felt like Good Value. 👍
If you are not the type that is Extremely Picky about your Taste for Zi Char, 🤔 can accept that this Eatery is a Kopitiam and Not some Air-Conditioned 酒楼, can accept the Prices that they are asking on their Menu, and also OK that this is a Kopitiam that allows Smoking Everywhere, 🚬 I can still recommend this Place to give it a try.

Because this is a Kopitiam, there are also Other Food Stalls available so you and your Family do not have to just eat Zi Char if you don't want to. 😅 If I come back in the Future, I'll be sure to try out other Stalls to give them a Try!
