📋 Here is the Full Menu of the Eatery/Restaurant. (There are No Prices Listed.)

This was a Small Warung that is located near to the Indonesian Consulate in JB. 🇮🇩 Actually where I was there, there are actually a couple of Small Warungs around although this was the only one I saw on Google Maps. 🌏🤔
Its a Cozy Little Eatery with a Very Kampung Feel and there were quite alot of Customers on a Sunday Morning. 🌞 The Whole Place gave me the impression that it is Family Run. There are also a Few Adorable Meows in this place and even some Kittens! 😺😍

Although I was the only Chinese Person there, I was very warmly greeted by a Very Friendly somewhat Elderly Makcik who took my Order. 👵♥️ She has a Very Kind Grandmotherly Feel that made me completely feel at ease here. ♥️

The only thing that I didn't like about this place was that some Customers Smoke here. 🚬🤔 If you have an issue with this, you might want to take note. Both Kopi-O-Kosong ☕ and the Bakso Beranak 🧆 were served up quickly in 3 Mins.

☕ Kopi-O-Kosong (Hot) = RM2.00

Very Basic Cup of Coffee, its not the Super Strong Type although it can wake you up. ☕👍 To be honest, this also tasted abit Diluted. Nothing really special about this. Skip this. 🤔

There are 3 Bottles of Condiments provided at this place as you can see in the Photo.

The Left Bottle is a Fruity Sweetish Sauce. Its not Sour but does come with a Slight Tang to it. 🍋‍🟩🤔

Middle Bottle was a Sweet Black Sauce that I thought tasted similar to the type of Sweet Sauce that you get when you eat Sng Kueh. 🍯🤔

The Right Bottle is a Very Intense Fiery Chilli Sauce
🔥🌶️ that thats like its made from Chilli Padi. The Spiciness in this is quite Strong and Gao Gao as the Heat will definitely bite your tongue and linger long. 🌶️🔥

🧆 Bakso Beranak = RM15.00

The Dish itself is a Noodle Soup 🍜 and I thought the Broth had a Nice 清甜 Taste. 😋 I thought it kindda taste like a Cross between a Fish 🐟 and Chicken 🐔 Soup. Its Saltish but not Overly So. Very Nice to Drink. 🍲👍

The Wikipedia Article for Bakso suggests that this Dish has a Indonesian Chinese origin and I also agree. 🇮🇩 The Soup actually taste More like a Lighter Tasting type of Chinese Soup. 🍲🤔  I feel it actually has a Very Conventional Chinese-Styled 清汤 Taste Profile. Not at all 重口味 and is Nice to Drink. 🍲😋

There are also 2 Pieces of Taupok 🟧 that I initially thought was mixed with what looks like Fish Paste but is actually some kind of Soft Chewy Starch. 🤔 Never seen Starch added to a Tau Pok like this and I thought it gave it an Interesting Texture. 🤔 That said, I neither liked nor disliked the Starch being added like this. Its just different I guess? The purpose of the Taupok of course is to Soak up the Soup Broth like a Sponge. 🧽

Being a Noodle Soup, the Noodles themselves look like Tang Hoon. 🍜🤔 Portion is actually not alot but its ok because they are surprisingly not the Main Actor in this Dish despite it being a Noodle Soup 🍜 (as you can see later).

They are Extremely Soft though. They're so Super Super Soft, that if you were to use your Tongue to push them towards the Roof of your Mouth, they will disintegrate almost immediately. 😋 Really 煮到烂烂. Thats how soft the Noodles are. 🍜😋 The Rest of the Ingredients are some Pieces of Cabbages 🥬 for the Veggie Component, together with some Fried Shallots and Spring Onions.

And now we come to the Main Star of the Dish. The Actual Bakso.

Bakso or Baso is an Indonesian Meatball 🇮🇩🧆 that is usually made with Ground Beef. 🐮 It is apparently quite a Common Dish and can be found all across Indonesia from Street Vendors to High-Class Restaurants. 😋 (Source: Wikipedia)
I've heard of Bakso before but have never tried this, so this is really my First Time. 👍 There are Various Variations of Bakso and the one I had here is probably the Most Unique one of them all! 😄

The word "Beranak" basically means "Pregnant" 🤰 and this Dish is literally translated as "Pregnant Meatball". 🤰🧆 Its named this way because it is basically a Huge Meatball that is stuffed with Little Meatballs and Quail Eggs within. 🧆 OMG this is such an Adorable Way to present a Meatball! 😄♥️
The Bakso Beranak they serve here really is a Big Fat Chonky Boy! 😳 It really is a Big Fat Meatball. Bite texture is more towards the Softer Bite although not the Super Soft type. 🤔 Its Slightly Salted, and surprisingly doesn't taste Overly Meaty despite it being such a Huge Sized. 🍖🤔

Can't really tell what meat this is made of. 🤔 I think maybe its a mix of Chicken 🐔 and Mutton? 🐐 The Meat Taste is really Very Light. I'm quite sure there are some Fillers added to cut cost obviously but they aren't obvious as I couldn't tell what sort of Fillers are added too. My Guess is some sort of Flour Mixture. 🤔

Within it are 4 Smaller Meatballs 🧆 + 2 Quail Eggs. 🥚
The Small Meatballs taste like they're made from the same Meat Mixture as the Main Big Meatball, 🍖🤔 although I feel they are a tad softer. I thought they looked very cute with the Grooves they made. 😄 The Quail Egg White tasted abit Dry 🤔 which means they were left out in the open for awhile before being incorporated into the Meatball, 🥚🤔 but the Yolk is Soft and Creamy. 👍

Being such a Big Meatball, inevitably it is going to feel Jelak the more you eat it especially if eating Solo. 😅 But the Fiery Chilli Condiment really helped here. 🔥🌶️

The Fiery Spiciness really helped cut down the Jelakness considerably and it was quite enjoyable to eat. 😋

-------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion and Closing Thoughts

At RM15.00 (S$4.80) for the Huge Bakso Beranak, I thought this was Affordable to give this Unique Dish a Try. 👍 This is my First Time trying this, and I thought this Dish is Culinarily Very Unique. 😋
This is most definitely Handmade and I'm impressed with how they fit the Smaller Meatballs and Quail Eggs within 🧆🥚 and still have them detach cleanly as you can see the Clean Grooves that were made in the Main Big Meatball. 🍖 Culinarily Very Creative, this is the First Time I've seen someone do this for a Meatball. 👍

I also found this Dish to be quite Tasty and actually has a Very Chinese 清汤 sort of taste. 🍲😋 That said, I understand some Google Reviews for this place say this doesn't taste Authentic. 🍲🤔 Being that this is the First Time I'm tasting this, I have no prior reference but I honestly did enjoy this version that I had. 👍

One thing I really liked how Homely this Warung felt. 🏠♥️ The Friendly and Kind Elderly Makcik really made me feel completely at ease here. 👵♥️
Although the Dish itself does not taste Atas or Sophisticated like how you would expect from a Higher End Restoran, there is a Very Homely Soul to this. 🏠♥️

This Dish totally tasted like its someone's Personal Family Recipe, and tasted as if someone's Mom or Grandma made this. 👵👩 It felt like this is what they have been regularly eating at Home. 🏠♥️ This is the sort of Actual Taste of Homecooked Food that most Restaurants are unable to replicate. 真的有一个家的感觉. ♥️
This is the sort of Dish that I look forward the most when I look for Good Eats during my Travels. It encapsulates a "Soul" that I look for in a Dish. ♥️ Of course I went up to the Makcik and her Daughter 👵👩 and gave them a Compliment which they appreciated. 👍

If you have never eaten Bakso Beranak before, I can definitely recommend this place to give it a try. 👍 For Folks who have eaten this Dish before, I would love to know how you think of the version sold here! 😄
