One thing I noticed about this Wadi Hana area is that it has a quite a Few Indian Restaurants here. 🇮🇳 This one that I'm in is quite well reviewed in Google Maps, 🌏 so I thought I'd give it a try. Its quite a Big Place, Airconditioned ❄️ and has a Nice Aroma of Roti Canai wafting in the Air. 😋
Even at 9.00am on a Sunday Morning, there are noticeably alot of Customers and most of them looked Local. 🇲🇾 Very Multicultural Clientele, I not only see Indian Folks here, but there are also a Couple of Chinese and Malay Folks too. 👍 This feels like an Eatery that is Well Known by the Locals.

Intimidating Experience for a First Time Customer.
The Staffs were Neither Friendly Nor Unfriendly. 🤔 When I first stepped in, no one paid any attention to me. All they did was look at me blankly and said nothing. 🤔 They kept to themselves and were busy. I wished they at least Smiled. 🤔 A Simple Smile to Customers instead of a Blank Stare at the Entrance would have been very Welcome. 🤔

As a First Time Customer and someone who admittedly seldom eats in Indian Restaurants, I'll admit it did felt slightly Intimidating. 😅 I was a little lost at what to do initially after I stepped in, so I just self-service found a Random Empty Seat to sit down first. 🪑 As I sat there for a Couple of Minutes, I was getting abit Lost and Confused. 😅 I looked around and the Staffs were busy running around all over the place. 🏃 All the Customers here seemed to know what they wanted and easily ordered their Foods without the Use of a Menu. 📜
As a First Timer here, of course I don't know what they have, so I tried to look for a Menu myself. 📜 There is only 1 Menu Booklet and its located right at the Front Cashier Entrance Area so I Grabbed it and went back to my Seat. 🪑

This Initial 1st Impression as a First Time Customer wasn't a Positive One. 🫤 In the Initial 5 minutes I was there, I felt all Alone and abit Blur on what to do. 😅 Like I said, the Staffs weren't Unfriendly but they were Very Busy with hardly anyone bothering to approach me even when I was there sitting at the Seat not knowing what to do. 😅 Of course I'm not asking for Perfect Customer Service here, but it would go a long way for at least the Front Entrance Cashier to introduce how to order in this place or at least welcome Customers with a Simple Smile. 🤔 Or perhaps they are really too busy? I don't know what to think tbh. 😅
If this is your very first time here, this is what you need to do:
1) Self-Service grab a Menu Booklet from the Front Cashier Area. 📖
There is only 1 Menu Booklet in this Whole Restaurant from what I see. 🤔
2) Go to any Available Seat 🪑 and choose whatever you want from the Menu Booklet. 📖
3) When you're ready to order, signal for one of the Roaming Staffs and tell him what you want. 🙋♂️ The Staffs are Super Busy here. Do not expect them to Smile at you or explain what each Item is. 🫤 They aren't fluent in English too so you do need to speak abit of Malay or just point to what you want. They exist here just to take your order.
4) Wait at your Seat and your order will be served up to you.
Although the Initial Entry Experience wasn't a Positive One, 🫤 I did meet a Very Friendly Indian Family when I was there. ❤️ So as I was reading the Menu and trying to figure out what is good, there was an Indian Family who sat next to me and I heard them speaking in English. 🤔 So I thought I'd try and reach out to them and strike up a Friendly Convo in hopes of asking them for their Recommendations. 😅
I'm so happy that there were very Warm and Friendly, ❤️ especially for a Very Nice Elderly Lady among them who very actively assisted me. 👵❤️ She not only recommended me to try the "Rawa Thosai" here, she also listed the ingredients that are used just to let me know if i'm ok with them. OMG She was so Thoughtful! ❤️
In addition, she also recommended I should order the "Garing" version of it, which if I remember correctly, means "Fried or Crispy". 🔥🤔 This "Garing" is not mentioned anywhere in the Menu so I really appreciated her tip on this. ❤️ Even when i'm back in Singapore and asked my Indian Colleague, he doesn't even know what "Garing" means, 😅 so I reckon this "Garing" is probably some sort of Malaysian Indian Slang word? 🇲🇾🤔
I am truly appreciative of this Very Friendly Indian Family who helped me alot here. ❤️ Their Warm and Welcoming Kindness made me feel alot more at ease when I was there. 😅 They will probably not see this post, but I would like to sincerely thank them here for their Warm Kindness! Thank you so much! ❤️
The 2 Types of Curries
Before the Rotis were served up, the staff will provide 2 Small Metal Pots of Curry. 🍲 Take note, these 2 Curry Pots are not for you alone. 😅 After you've taken the amount of Curry you wanted, the Staffs will take them away and pass it to another Customer.
The 1st is a Chicken Curry that is Mild and not Very Spicy. 🌶️ Although the Spiciness is Mild initially, it does creep up on you. 🤔 What is unique about this however are the Multiple Pieces of Chicken Necks and Feet within. 🐔
I love these Necks and Feet as they taste Very Soft and have a Very Gelatineous Bite Feel. 🐔😋 Haha there are alot of Pieces of them within and I had wanted to just grab all of them to munch. 🐔😅 But because this Curry is also meant for other Customers, I refrained from taking all of them lest there is not enough for the Next Customer. 😅
The 2nd Type of Curry is actually the type that is used in Fish Head Curry. 🐟🍲 There are No Pieces of Fishes within but had pieces of Brinjal. 🍆
It had a Thicker and Creamier Consistency compared to Chicken Curry. Only Mildly Spicy. 🚫🌶️
One thing about these 2 Curries though is unfortunately they're not Hot. Not even Warm. 🤔 Both of them are Room Temperature even bordering on Cold, which I thought was Pretty Disappointing. 🫤 I personally prefer a Very Hot Curry to pair with Roti Canai. 🍲 Anyway, it took 9 mins for the Roti Canai Telur to serve up, and 11 mins for the Rawa Thosai Garing. Everything took about 11 Mins in total.
Roti Canai Telur = RM3.00
This is of course Roti Canai with Egg. 🍳 Compared to others, I feel the Version here is Noticeably Big Sized. 🤔 It also feels Considerably Thicker too. Luckily compared to the Curries, this is served Warm at least. 👍

Its more on the Firmish Side, Quite Doughy 🤔 and I feel the Eggy Taste feels quite prominent here. 🍳 Because this is a Thick Roti, I thought it worked especially well to soak up the Curries. 🍲

But if i'm going to be very honest, I don't feel there is anything special about this. 😅 In fact I feel this is very normal tasting and the only unique thing about it is how thick it was. 🤔 Do take note if you order this because of how thick it is, this one can fill you up fast.
Rawa Tosai (Garing) = RM4.00
Thosai is a Very Thin Layer Crispy Pancake that resembles a Crepe. This is a Common Dish that is available in most Indian Restaurants. 🇮🇳 This Rawa Tosai however is slightly unique because unlike a Regular Thosai which is more Smooth and resembles more like a Crepe, this one has a More "Bullet Hole" Appearance. 🤔

Also perhaps more important, unlike Regular Thosai, this Rawa Thosai uses Semolina Flour, which when translates to taste, actually tastes like you're eating Murukku. 😋 You know that Cute Round Spiral Indian Pastry that you get to see during Deepavali? Yes that Murukku. it tastes exactly like that. 😋

Now I'm not sure if Regular Rawa Thosai is supposed to be more Soft in Texture, but this "Garing" version was Very Crispy. 😋 Eating this with Curry was quite Enjoyable. 👍 Imagine a Very Thin Crispy Murukku Dipped in Curry and you're not far off with what this Tastes like.

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts
At at Total Combined Price of RM7.42 (S$2.26), this was Affordable to try. Having said that, I am not particularly Wowed by the Quality here. 🤔 I feel there is Nothing here that makes me want to come back here again. 🤔
The Roti Canai Telur was Too Thick and Doughy for my Preference. 🤔 And as interesting as the Rawa Thosai (Garing) was, It was interesting for maybe a 1 time try, but not something I would specifically come to JB for again. 🤔
The 2 Curries were a Major Factor why I won't come back because they're not Hot. 🍲🤔 I don't like my Curries served at Room Temp or even Cold. 🤔 I do like the Necks and Chicken Feet in the Chicken Curry though and they are the only thing I enjoyed from the Curries. 🐔

Ultimately though it was the Initial First Customer Experience (or lack thereof) that didn't work for me. 🫤 I wasn't impresssed with how Cold the Experience felt when I entered. 🫤 While None of the Staffs were Unfriendly, the Overall Impression I had was that I probably came at a Wrong Time and shouldn't have been there especially when met with a Blank Stare from Every Staffs there. 🫤
I wished they at least Smiled. 🫤 I've been to other Indian Restaurants and I had a much more Positive First Customer Entry Experience compared to this place. 🫤 If I had not met that Warm, Friendly and Helpful Indian Family, I reckon my experience here would have been a Whole lot Colder and Worse. 😅
This is only my Personal Opinion of this Restaurant of course. Judging from the Bustling Crowded Amount of Local Customers this place had, hahaha maybe I'm the only one having this issue. 😅 If you would like to give this place a try, I hope you have a Better Experience here than I did. 🤔
