About this Taman Sri Tebrau Hawker Centre

The last time I visited this Hawker Centre was about 20 Years Ago. 😅 This was a Really Nostalgic Place for me and it was probably one of the 1st Locations I visited to get My Very First Taste of Authentic Malaysian Food. 🇲🇾😋
How Fast Time Flies. 真的是一转眼就是二十年了.

I remember 20 Years ago when I came here, the Whole Hawker Centre was so Super Crowded, it was almost impossible to find a Seat. 😳 I could still remember the Crowded Bustling Feel that remained Fresh in my Mind. 😄 After a Meal here, we would walk over to the Nearby Holiday Plaza Mall for some Retail Therapy. 🛍️

20 Years Later, Times have Certainly Changed. 🤔

Today, Taman Sri Tebrau Hawker Centre feels like a Shadow of its Former Self. 🤔 Don't get me wrong, the Place is still a Popular Food Haunt, but even on a Friday Evening 6.30pm when I was there, there were still Plenty of Seats available, hardly crowded at all. 🪑🤔 Quite alot of Food Stalls themselves are not even open. Such a Far Cry from how it used to be. 🤔 Last time you're considered lucky if you could even find a Seat at 6.30pm. 😅 Holiday Plaza has fared even worse, now being An Almost Completely Abandoned Mall. 🥲


Very Big Difference compared to the Open-Air Johor Jaya Evening Food Street that I reviewed previously. 🤔 In Comparison, at 6.30pm Johor Jaya Food Street is already Very Much More Crowded already. 🎉

Perhaps its due to how this Hawker Centre is designed? 🤔 For people who do not know of this place, they might even drive past without even realizing there is a Hawker Centre here. 🚗 The Whole Place almost looks like a Shanty Town with Old Zinc Roofs covering the Entire Place and Almost No Ventilation making the Place Extremely Warm and Stuffy especially in this Crazy Hot Weather. 🥵

With the Ever Popular Air-Conditioned KSL City Mall with its more Modern Eateries and Cafes, ❄️ its no wonder that People nowadays are much less willing to venture out of the Mall further to endure eating in this Warm and Stuffy Hawker Centre. 🤔🥵

Type of Food Stalls Available:

The Food Stalls I enjoyed 20 years ago, are of course mostly no longer around anymore. 🤔The Most Common Stalls I saw were Seafood Stalls, 🦑🐟🦀 Char Kway Teows, 🍜 Fried Oysters, 🦪 Drink Stalls etc. 🥤 The Usual Ones you'd normally expect from a Hawker Centre. Occasionally there are some Unique Ones but on a whole 来来去去 is agar agar the Similar Varieties with a few Variations. 🤔

Nothing Special about the Ordering System here. Just go up to whatever Stall you want, order your food, and point to agar agar where you're sitting 👉🪑and Pay when your Food is delivered to your Table. 💵

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts

Compared to 20 Years ago, this Hawker Centre is certainly no longer as Massively Popular as it used to be. 🤔 That said, I'm not sure how is the Situation on a Weekend though. 🤔

It really shows its age today and in badly needed for some Renovations because the Air Ventilation here is quite bad making the Whole Place very Warm and Stuffy. 🥵 That said, we all know any Renovations will certainly raise the Food Prices, so perhaps its better to remain as it is? 💵😅

Do I recommend coming here? If you have Nostalgic Feelings for this place, Definitely. ♥️ This Place will Definitely bring back alot of Memories for you. ♥️ For the Younger Generation though, to ask them to leave the Comfort of KSL City Mall to venture out into an Old, Warm and Stuffy Hawker Centre may be abit too much for them. 😅 Food Prices in General are also not that particularly cheaper compared to other Eateries in the Vincinity tbh. 💵🤔

This place really is Very Warm and Stuffy. 🥵 You need to be prepared for this if you want to explore here. But if you do explore here, it can be quite a Unique Experience to enjoy your Meal in such a Rustic Old Looking Hawker Centre. 🍽️ This is something that you will never have the chance to experience in Singapore. 👍
